I apologize in advance if this might have been posted before:

I know about the usual things to pack but some people bring not so common items that are useful and great like the over the door shoe organizers; highlighters to mark the Navigator; sticky note pads to leave notes for the cabin steward. What are other useful items that you bring?

I am not a neat freak nor a germaphobic - but after catching a nasty bug on a cruise, I bring clorox wipes. The very first thing we do when we enter our cabin or hotel room is we each wipe down the enter place, especially hitting the telephone, remotes, inside of the frig and handles. And believe me you don't want to look at the wipe after you do. Have you ever seen housekeeping clean these? We also get to find out were all the plugs and such are in a room and if there are problems with the room right away. I also bring a small squeeze bottle of dish soap and wash the glasses and coffee stuff. I know it sounds paranoid but we didn't start doing this until after getting sick once. val

The other thing I do is pack everything in 2 gallon ziplock plastic bags, sorting each type of clothes in each. i.e. tops, slacks, sleepwear etc. I leave things in the bags making finding clothes easier. It makes both unpacking and repacking easier too. val

OK everyone I think the "Final" Version of the Navigator is ready. I can still update things like errors or people's room numbers but the main bulk of the writing should be accurate. Obviously we still don't have tasting dates but I think the rest is ready and Penny has done her magic to create the printable versions. She is working on the Digital version for those wanting that but below are the versions. One of them is if you have a printer that can do Duplux prints and two are for those people with single sided printing where you need to reload the paper once you do one side.

Oh also coat hangers, clothes hooks and celotape. You never know when any of these come in useful!

Same here, no bright and earlies for us anymore. But, the eye clinic called and said poor Dennis has to be there at 6:30 am on Monday. So, I guess I will have to set an alarm for that day. We can just think of it as practice for our flight out of Spokane on Sept 13 which leaves at 6:20 am.

Wow, you'll really have to be up early for that, depending on how close you are to the airport (we're an hour and change away w/no traffic).

Those sound like very smart ideas. I'm always taking new things away from this board.

so fabulous! Thanks!

If anyone has any corrections to the navigator I'm going to try and lump them together for a Final "Final" version! One typo has already been found so feel free to pm me anything you notice or post on here. Ill try and keep up with any that appear but hoping there will only be a couple and by the end of next week we may have it all done and dusted after all its only 3 weeks now until I leave for the cruise and only 3weeks 1 day until were there. Just wanted to get this out for the B2Bers who are leaving soon!

As said for those taking electronic equipment, an electronic version is on the cards and Ill post as soon as its available so don't worry it is coming! Our wizard Penny is working on it! She did a fab job on getting this done so quickly as I only sent it yesterday so I just wanted to say again bug hugs to Penny!

We always have an elastic washing line to stretch across the bath. Useful for drying socks and hand-washed mentionables :):)

OK so one of Dan's work mates just got back from a Med cruise on DCL (he booked the same time we did) and he said he really enjoyed it. He did however say they had run out of all American beers so only had Amstel and Heineken onboard. I'm hoping this was an issue coming out of Dover as this was the first time that they cruised the med after the Dover repositioning (Dan only saw him today).

I'm hoping that Lorraine or Giles may be able to let us know? Please say they had Sam Adams?

Fantastic, thank you.

Ill tell Lorraine and Giles by FB that there's a shout out.

Sarah, you rock!!! I knew that already, of course! : )

Sarah - THANKS for the Navigator! It looks fantastic! I cannot wait to start making my notes and highlighting things. All your hard work is much appreciated.

Wow, you'll really have to be up early for that, depending on how close you are to the airport (we're an hour and change away w/no traffic).

We are 3.5 hours from Spokane Airport, only 5 minutes from Missoula Airport. However, the theme of Missoula Airport is "you can't get there from here" :snooty: (except we can fly direct and cheap:yay: to LAX now on Allegiant), so we mostly fly from Spokane. We will drive over the day before the flight and stay in an airport hotel with a 5 am shuttle. We have a friend in Coeur D'Alene, ID who will car sit for us while we are gone. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear that. We're having a car service drive us to the airport and our oldest daughter will pick us up on the way back, so no airport parking for us either (it turns out this way is cheaper than paying for two weeks' of parking).

I agree with both the chlorox wipes and the ziplock bags. We've been doing that for a while, although it didn't stop me from getting the norovirus at the end of the Baltic cruise!

I also bring our own disney mugs with lids for soda, water, coffee etc. They hold more and the ice doesn't melt so fast.

Sadly we don't know - DH purposely stayed away from the beer on this cruise to ensure he could get in his clothes for the next cruise - he says he may not be as diligent this time!

I think we are good to go, but if anybody has any questions or needs help with anything, please PM me or ask away. This will be a fun exchange for all participating. It will be fun to take away a little bit of our dis friends for our TA scrapbook.

Thanks!
Sandi

Clearly, you are my cruising kindred spirit!

Too many people do not wash their hands (or wash them well enough).
