soooo.. what kind of clothes are people packing (for daily wear- I don't mean dinners) for this cruise? I mentioned it previously but I'm really curious what the majority are planning on wearing. I was in normal cruise mode thinking shorts and maybe capris, mostly wearing flipflops, never needed a jacket or sweater or anything on previous cruises, etc.- but then I see Barcelona (we'll be there 3 days) is low 70's that time of year.. and that's kinda chilly for us Texans. Will it be that cold or colder most of the cruise as well? I really need some help in what to pack....... pretty please?

I`m confident that Spain, Gib and Madeira will be warm enough for my usual linen pants & tshirts or summer dresses.
For the Caribbean it`ll be hot weather stuff. So for the possible cold days at sea I have a hoody I bought on the Baltic cruise and I will live in that.
I`m a Brit and upper 60`s is a warm summer day for us!

always mention CM's who have given good service as it is important to them.

Seriously, I keep a note of those who have made a difference so they're not forgotten... :goodvibes

I did this on our last ( and only ) cruise. I mentioned our wonderful servers etc by name and then I emailed DCL on our return and reiterated how wonderful the cruise was and named names. They emailed me back and said they would let the named individuals know and also theirmanagers. So it's all worth it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I always find the giving out of the tip envelopes a hugely embarrassing thing, I really do. It kind of spoils the final night's dinner waiting all 'secretly' with the envelopes for the appropriate time.:headache:

When exactly is the appropriate time by the way :confused3 the last evening or the last morning ??
Ours also says we have an onboard credit for online booking which I think was $50! We should also have $200 for that letter fiasco but doesn't say!

Our docs don't mention any OBC yet we have some from DU and also the letter !!! Where does it say it?

Low 70s is really warm for us Brits so I was planning on taking skirts and tops and dresses for the daytime ... with cardies / shrugs in case of chilly winds.

A small thing overall and slightly off topic...

My DD Lilian lost her first tooth today. She is very excited. :cheer2:
My baby is growing up.:goodvibes :sad1::yay:

awwwwww that is really cute ..... a visit from the tooth fairy at your place this evening

Also on Monday my daughter gave birth to my second grandchild, a tiny boy with lots of black hair. Who is absolutley gorgeous of course.

Congratulations on the birth of your grandson

Hi all,

With all the talk of excursions of late, last night I was playing around with something I started a month ago, but never got around to completing. In part I wasn't sure if everyone would want to do this, so I'd like to get feedback before I complete it.

The idea is that we could create a list of all the events (room tour, champagne girls, drink tastings, etc.) and DCL excursions, then people could enroll in the events in which they are participating, and that way we could all see what each others are doing, as well as getting head counts and such. I thought it would be nice if you are going on an excursion to know what friendly faces to look for.

reat idea ... this would be really cool :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Congratulations on the new baby!!!!

Congratulations on your new grandson!!! :cloud9:

Congratulations Jan. So exciting. Perhaps you will get a photo up sometime?

Congratulations to you and your family!!! :goodvibes

Thank you all of you.

Marilyn I would love to post a photo and will 'maybe' do so next week !!. I have never even loaded photos onto my PC, let alone put them on a thread !!. So that is my goal for next week to learn ;).

I was talking to my hubby (glenn) about the survey's and he said why do they not have resort guests fill out surveys? The cruise staff works 4 times as hard. He said he would take all the different nationalities on the cruise over the USA staff.

Sadly the more they expand the college program the more the quality of sevice go down at WDW. I have notice a big change in the last few years.

As for cruise survey I would like one to include before the cruise. Like how they could improve their air travel desk. I am still annoyed that they make no mention to the airlines that they have guests using mobility devices.

After 1 hour and 30 minutes and that is no lie. ( Over 2 days) i got my travel organized. To me that is the disney's air travel desk responsibility. If I had a travel agent who booked my flights they would do it. Will never book air travel with disney again. Much easier to do it myself.

The fact that some have a fuel credit others do not. This is all part of the cruise experience.

Also there is no room to right much at the end of the survey. I would like the opportunity to fill out a survey on line. Westjet does this :)

The website is also part of the cruise experience. Which many people found frustrating while trying to book palo, excursions etc.

For me it is the lack of accessible excursions. I wrote disney about how their should be a tab for mobility challenged. Like they have a tab for mild moderate etc. Since I I spent hours looking at each place to only be disappointed.

They said they are woking on this. Well I am sorry most of the excursions are the same as they were 2 years ago. I think the real reason is if they had a tab it would have basically nothing on it. That would make disney look bad.

The tab should have info on what is accessible like some of the disers here have given for different ports.

I understand that they do not run the excursions. But if Birkner can work it out so I can go I am sure disney could have.

I am so excited that after 6 cruises this is my first excursions. Birkner went way beyond the call of volunteering to make sure all my questions were asked.

Disney does not really do this.

So I think the pre cruise stuff is really important because it sets the tone.

But I must say some of the suggestions I have written them have been added on the ship. So I know they do listen.

hi
well i have found the website to be ok - used alot worse when i needed to talk to someone well they have been very helpful and friendly

but yes the pre cruise is all important first impressions is absolutely key

in terms of questions this thread has been so helpful

Thanks so very much the offers and insights!!! :flower3: I'm determined to come to a conclusion before the weekend's over as to how I plan to manage this, so I'll let you know!

Keep us posted!! We would love to tour with you!!

I'm with you on this!! This year 70 deg is a hot day!!! I am taking cropped trousers for Bareclona and hope to be able to wear them. I will travel in long trousers so will have those for cooler/wet days. Shorts will have to wait till onboard(hopefully) and at the other end.

When exactly is the appropriate time by the way :confused3 the last evening or the last morning ??

They always seem too busy on the final morning to give them their tips somehow.

Oh, I seem to have loads of cardi's to take with me. It would be nice not to have to wear any.:rotfl2:

Thank you all of you.

I can post pictures that I actually have on my computer, via Photobucket, but I haven't got the hang of downloading them to the computer from my camera yet. John has to do that.

Unless you have already paid Bernard for the tour, you can cancel. Some of the others who have expressed interest in a private tour have also booked with Bernard. The cost would only be a little higher, but we are assured of a van with no more than 12 people. Additionally we will be getting drinks through out the day. We have a little more freedom to choose where we want to go. Even if you go to Orient Beach, you do not have to parasail. That is just one many of the activities available at Orient Beach. Dawn Beach is fairly undeveloped when compared with Orient Beach. It is quieter and less crowded. The bonus is great snorkeling. Sunning and swimming are available at both beaches. PM me if you are interested in either tour option.

My only concern would be that I have already booked directly with Bernard.

If we get a group tour, I would want to snorkel. Not interested in the added expense of parasailing.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes... I'll get over not scuba diving, long as I can fly! stupid ear and sinuses. :(

haha
i wonder if there are really people out there that get the email and go "oh yeah, I totally forgot we're going to be cruising in a month. I'm so glad we got that email to remind us" LOL
:rotfl:

Thankyou

On a really early post I had copies of the menus attached from the last TA. The themes mainly relate to food. The Villians night however is a themed night as well so there may be other Villian stuff going on. The others are just menu nights.

Here's the menus

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=28718645&postcount=3004

Farewell to the Caribbean (similar to the Welcome to Caribbean)

Transatlantic Menu

Prince & Princess Menu

There are more if you want them but these were the ones I think that differ from those shown!

cool thanks for that so the villians is a theme night i wonder if i can find a villians tie

thanks again for the information

hopefully we will see some great characters i love the villians at mickeys not so scary halloween party :maleficen

I think I would like to do that. Do you get much notification of the dates? I'm guessing it books up very quickly.

We did the member cruise last year and I think we booked sometime in Fall 2008 for the 2009 members' cruise. And yes, it did fill up fast (within 4 hours, I believe). However, the Dream is a larger ship, so more folks can be accommodated. But then with the Dream being the newest ship, more folks will want to book it. Oh, well.

Ok, today I went into Best Buy to "see" what they had. I got a $50 gift card for my birthday. I was going to buy iTunes cards with it to upload or download songs and audiobooks when I came across something that will work much better for me.

I've been downloading some maps and online tour guides for some of the places we are going too on the Med and TA. Well, I've been a bit worried because the battery doesn't seem to last as long as my old iPhone. So as I'm walking past the Apple section I come across a package by Griffin of a wall charger, car charger and a backup battery. It costs $59.99 but with my card it only cost me $15.64 to pay the difference.

The reserve battery will give you an additional 6 hr of music listening and video watching on an iPod Classic and on the iPhone #3G, it will give you an additional 1 1/2 hr of web time (if you surf a lot) and and additional 2 hrs of phone time. The reserve battery attaches to the bottom of the phone where you plug it in and the best part is that the wall charger can be used to charge both your spare battery and your iphone, ipod at the same time.

This particular package works for the following:

iPhone 3Gs - 16 & 32 GB,
iPhone 3G - 8 & 16GB
iPhone - 4, 8 and 16GB
iPod Nano (4th gen)
iPod Nano 5th Gen (video)
iPod Touch (1st gen)
iPod Touch (2nd gen)
iPod Classic

So just assuming anyone else has the same battery life problem I have, this might be something you want to look into also. I got mine at Best Buy in the Apple section and is made by Griffin. They have 2 versions of the package, one contains the 3 items I listed above namely the car charger, wall charger and a spare battery. The other version only carries the wall charger and the spare battery. But they both run $59.99. One says made for iPod Works with iPhone and the other says - Made for iPhone works with iPod. Either way, it works for both. But I needed a car charger so I got the 3 item one. This way I feel like I got more bang for my buck. :teeth:

Hopes this helps others.

cool thanks yeah i am bringing my itouch gen 2 thanks for the info

That is very odd. On our cruise last September they were pushing the VGC as a great idea to buy just to use the points for cruising. In fact a young couple on our dining table did just that as they didn't use points for WDW. We made an appointment and had this point encouraged, and we did think about it.

Hi all,

I'd like to get feedback to see if people would be interested in doing this. Right now only the sign-up part is complete, but I could have the list of events and event detail pages completed pretty quickly.

Please feel free to play around, but the data is just test data, and will be deleted if/when we set up all the events/excursions.

Glenn

I can put photos that I have been sent from family, onto other things, but none of the other stuff yet. I am going to ask my daughter next week when I am up staying with her. ( Because of course, we will have soo much time on our hands, with nothing to do !! ;))
