Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.7

I have no problem for doing it for as many groups as you need. Seems like it is easier to have one place to go. I could just pass the info to the point persons or just leave it up for them to collect. Just let me know.

Just my thoughts....
:surfweb:

OK cool

On the EBTA, we had one centrally located dry erase board for cabin changes and other announcements. Cabin changes were noted:
NAME . . . . . CABIN
Mickey 123 - xxxx
Donald NY - xxxx
Goofy abc - xxxx

Unfortunately, some other cruisers (either accidentally or on purpose) smudged the information. This happened often.

We found it was better to have the cabin changes on a sheet of paper (held with a magnetic clip).

I suggest not posting a copy of the Excel spreadsheet (the full cabin list) on a cabin door. That information should kept within the DIS group.

On our WBTA, people could note their information and groups as follows:
NAME . . . . . CABIN . . . . . GROUPS
Mickey 123 - xxxx - Kiwi Group
Donald NY - xxxx - Postcard Exchange
Goofy abc - xxxx - Kiwi Group, Secret Mickey
My two cents.

Woody

Oh sounds like a good idea! This was one of the reasons I was thinking keep seperate lists for each group of activities ie. each FE group for example as this limits the number of groups involved that may have an issue.

I don't know what people think? Sue has a fab excel sheet (hope she doesn't mind me mentioning it) that could be used if we want 1 central place or adjusted slightly if we want each group to have one but it just depends what people would rather do?

All I know is that DH has told me that as long as you have the fully licensed Adobe package that allows one to create PDF's, He says it is relatively easy to convert to a booklet PDF if you know what buttons to push, even the Word document is up to 50 pages. He has done both manually and with Adobe many times for DD's school auction programs.

DH will probably convert our cruise plans stuff when we are finally done into a PDF file so we can view it offline on computer so we don't have to print it.

Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:

In that case Ill see if we can get out a first version in early August (for the B2B people) then our finalised version out before the 10th Sept

:scared: I just returned from a walk around the lake where I was attacked by a bird. It was so weird. The dumb thing came right at my head and it still hurts. I'm trying to decide what I should do tomorrow when I walk by that same spot. This isn't the first time I have had issues with birds at that spot, but this is the first time I've been physically assaulted by a bird!! :confused3

Any suggestions?

Ouch! I'm assuming this would be a nest spot for the bird maybe! I'd avoid it!

It was fun to look for a program that would do the job. I have learned a new skill and get to help out Sarah and the cruise group too. I was feeling lazy because I wasn't doing anything for the group and now I get help out in a small way. :surfweb: :flower3: :thumbsup2

Pj

And Sarah is extremely grateful as I have no idea how to do this stuff (the last navigator I made I just did in word as I knew how to use that lol!)

can the newbies (those who have just booked) make our own group? If we're not in a group, does that mean we don't get any fe gifts? What if a person wants to give to everyone? Connie

Connie - Sue's making new groups as people come in and so I think you should be fine. You can also take part in multiple groups if you want too

I was planning on tracking the FE groups and printing up lists. My thought was an oversized envelope outsde the door - open and take a sheet... Changes can be written on the outside of the envelope.

Thoughts?

I like this idea. I still don't know whether logistics wise it might be easiest to have one of these for each group of FE's or actual item because that way the list wont be too big and we wont miss any changes.
I dunno, what do other people think? Would it be easier one master list or would people prefer smaller lists for each group?

So far we seem to be a mixed bunch as to whether we seperate out or not so maybe we need a vote.

I vote for seperate but that's just me lol!
Paula's voted for central!

Anyone else want to chip in with a thought?

/
I think a central location would be good if possible - I think everyone doing the candy swap is also a FE gift participant.

The only issue is having to notify multiple people of a cabin change - is that it would take a lot more time to notify everyone involved with that group.

If someone could have a central list and everyone contacts that person if their cabin changes then those doing FE drops or whatever can just check that one location first before doing their gift drop.

I think as long as a public list had "Dis name" and not real name there aren't really any safety concerns.

I agree it may take longer for some people to notify as they have to go to a couple of rooms but my theory was they could deliver their FE/candy at the same time so this would actually be somewhere they would be going anyway and so would make it less time consuming.

What worried me about the central list was loss of data over the cruise. If we have a list of only 10 dis names or so on each door it means that you would have less chance of this information going missing and could keep track of it better.

I agree with you on the Dis name thing! I don;t think its unsafe to post a room number and a dis name as no one other than dis people knows who you are anyway.

:I don't mind for the whatever group I'm in. We are category 4 and the odds of us getting a free upgrade to the Walt Suite are sorta nil, so we know our cabin number won't change!!!
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

LOL hey you never know!

Glenn my Hubby turns 49 the day we depart Barcelona. Poor guy will be so jet lag. He does not sleep on planes at all. :(

We are arriving at 7:25 am on the tour to the ship I think I still might be sleeping :cloud9::laughing:

Got you down already!

So, I have about 70 people between my groups. I am willing to have the central place, along with groups printed - that way people can grab a list and then make note of the cabin moves right then. Not a problem at all! I don't mind dong the others if you will send me the finished lists. I will just have a FE envelope, a Secret Mickey envelope and a Candy Swap envelope. Easy!

Thanks for volunteering - we just need to make sure this doesn't turn out to be a huge mission for you (or anyone else)!

Which activities are reliant on cabin numbers - FE, candy swap, secret Mickey - are there others?

I'm just thinking that if there was a master list something like this on someones door -
Disname Original Cabin New Cabin
MMouse 5431
PaulaSillars 6641 1234

Then when I get notification of my new cabin number (hoping for a free upgrade ;)), I contact the master list holder via phone to their cabin, and they update the change on the list on their door.

Then once people are ready to drop off their gifts (or whatever), they check the master list and update their delivery list with any changes relevant for their groups.

Just thinking and I'm sure someone could come up with something better :)

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

We have been upgraded on every cruise we have been on - twice from a 11/12 to a 9 and on the EBPC, from a 12 to a 4 - we had a leak in the ceiling above the bed. Definitely unheard of!

I don't even want the Walt Suite, all I want is a stateroom with a verandah! Not too much to ask, is it?

Dreams are free :rotfl2:

I went to see Fame, the musical today. Hmmmmm, Wasn't my favourite stage show....

Ok, I read a heap of pages this morning and marked them to reply to but the mutipost seems to be lost. So I will remember what I can, which is barely anything as my brain leaks! :lmao:

Sue, I am so glad Becca didn't have to have another cast on and she has some freedom back, just in time for school to go back, I think?

Woody, I know I wanted to reply to you about something, I just can't remember what? Probably something either very smart or very witty you said. :confused3

Gismo Sarah, You are a legend for doing the navigator, It is really going to help our first cruise experience and I thank-you. I think mid August is a great time to get it out, it gives us time to correct anything and make changes if needed.

Connie, I was going to say Congratulations to the Netherlands for winning the soccer......I think? I'm not good with sport, did I get that right?

WELCOME to the newbies, Did I see a Bev and a Val? And I hope you get the all clear after the eye surgery Bev! :thumbsup2

You are already doing so much Sue, I know you are a 'momma bear' and like to do it, but I am happy to help or take over with this if you'd like? :goodvibes I realise it is probably safer to do it on your door as you have cabin assignment, but I can look after the list and keep track of changes until the week before the cruise date? Or if you have anything else I can help with, gimme a shout! ;)

MY hubby wears what I pack him :) But seriously he does not put up a fuss cause he does it for me. He does dress up cause he loves me and know it is important to me :)

You two sound like such a gorgeous couple! :lovestruc

I vote one list. Can you imagine someone who is doing FE, Candy swap, Postcard swap and Secret Mickey having to go around 4 different lists to collect the cabin assignment info. One location for all the info would be better.

Thanks for volunteering - we just need to make sure this doesn't turn out to be a huge mission for you (or anyone else)!

OK, I will propose something. What if I make a generic spreadsheet for each person. Every Dis'er will have their own spreadsheet with columns for Dis name, actual names, cabin number, new cabin number and what activity/group it's for. Then they can take that sheet to one location, and fill in the boxes of any new cabin assignments that have been posted on mine or Sue's door. We could have a cut off date, say the end of day 1. If you have not changed cabins, no need to do anything. If you have changed, ring or go to mine or Sue's and notify us of changes. On Day 2 morning the list of changes will be posted on the door with Dis name, old cabin and new cabin numbers.
Does that make sense, what does everyone think. Is this what people were originally thinking and I missed something? I think it would work well.

Good Morning everyone. Hope you don't mind another last minute joiner. Yesterday we found this great deal on this cruise and decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity. I booked my cabin and air ticket. Now I'm in a panic. HELP

We are coming in to Barcelona on the 14th and need help deciding where to stay and what to do. We have traveled in the US and on Disney cruises but never Europe and we don't speak anything but English. Disney lovers are the best so I feel ok reaching out for your help and asking you to share your knowledge with us.

Look forward to meeting all of you and sharing the excitement of planning for this cruise. Oh, we live in San Francisco so if any of you are coming to the west coast when the Wonder is here next year we would be happy to share info about our side of the country. We just came back from an Alaska cruise and have learned so much about that beautiful state.

Bob & Val

:welcome: Val and Bob. Never too late for new cruisers :yay:
We are Sarah and Tony from North Wales :thumbsup2

Hello again all! I haven't posted much but have been following along eagerly. Best wishes to all who have been under the weather for a speedy and complete recovery.

Thanks to those who caught the military rate discounts coming out. I wasn't sure if we could get it since we booked through USAA, but called this morning anyway. I figured what was the worst that would happen; I'd just be in exactly the same spot I was before. So I called and (drum roll, please) managed to save over $1500. DH was thrilled.

Anyway, I hope to be able to post more, but I am lurking.

Sarah, DH (Greg) and I (Erica) will be celebrating our first anniversary (9/5, but celebrating on the cruise).

:yay::yay::yay: another Sarah :yay::yay:

Got Patrick's birthday!

I was thinking maybe we could have 1 person per fish extender group with a noteboard on their door that would say the room changes for that group. If they themselves moved rooms they would need to notify just the people in their groups so not too many, and the others in the group would be able to find the rooms easily by starting off here.

Any volunteers?????

Also would need one for the list of Secrete Mickey Participants and one for the Postcard Exchange I guess as well

I will keep a list of the Secret Mickey particiapnts and their cabin numbers unless of course we opt for the central location for lists plan. I am easy with whatever.

Did you get my PM Sarah??

My DD is leaving for Russia tomorrow.....she will be gone for 2 weeks. If you all could keep the mission team in your prayers, I sure would appreciate it. :grouphug:

PM received and understood :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Sending all our best wishes for your DDs trip to Russia .... hope they keep safe and have a wonderful experience.

Take along a shotgun and give it what for :mad: Only kidding ... does it have young nearby, maybe it is being protective. Is it a large bird ... that would be very :scared1::scared1: We have gulls here which swoop down and steal your food if you eat in the streets etc. Very :scared1::scared1:

LOL sounds good! I think you might be right about it getting too confussing otherwise. I take back my idea as thinking about it it might be a nightmare to have multiple lists!

Does that make sense, what does everyone think. Is this what people were originally thinking and I missed something? I think it would work well.

I'm assuming the list needs to remain up for the entire cruise then incase people don't get a chance to stop by on Day 2. This shouldn't be an issue should it? I'm just thinking we've got Palo Day 2 so prob wont get a chance to do this any time around then

I did think of another option but I think that would be even more work for people and I don't want to give anyone more work especially when I'm not the one doing it but the other thing I thought of is that one person per group (i.e FE/Candy/Postcard/Mickey etc) could volunteer to go get this information and then supply a copy of the room numbers to the other people in their group. That way the list would only need to be on the door for a day or some and then the others could ensure they had the numbers.

This however would be a lot of work I know which is why I don't think its practicle but wanted to suggest it just as I thought about it lol! See I'm rambling now. Need more coffee

Of course, we would need to leave the list up and accessible for the entire cruise. ;)
I will probably be the first to get my Fe's delivered, as there is some food as part of my gift, It would be too tempting to have all that yummy food in our cabin! :rotfl: And as for the Candy Swap, I've already had to replace them a few times!:laughing::laughing:
I think everyone can be responsible for collecting their own cabin changes and info, What do you think?

Totally Angelic Sarah, I just love your Saturday night messages, I am so glad your hand is Ok enough to do the weekly message! BTW, I hope it's feeling better! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

well, that would be different!:thumbsup2
