I know just what you mean about it being harder to lose weight past the menopause!!! What I find more than a little annoying is that as we get older we are supposed to eat a lot less, eat none of the good stuff we enjoy, and exercise a lot more. Just completely the wrong way round to me!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Its very wrong..... after all that we have done to proliferate the human race we should deserve some compensation in our post-menopause years most definitely.

What I would give to have to loose just 7 pounds!! Of course if I were that close, I would be a typical California woman and opt for liposuction!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Regretfully I am past where liposuction would work, I need the nip tuck!!!;) So, I will just opt to cover it all up!!!:rotfl2: Oh and I'm thinking Spanx!!!;)

oooooohhhhh ..... I am way too much of a wimp for that Noel :rotfl2:
No ... it will be salads only in August and no desserts ( apart from the wedding I need to attend )

Sometimes I just want to sit around and watch TV all day eating chocolates or rich puddings!!!!!!

The last few lbs are always the hardest. Keep going!!! Sometimes I think the last couple of weeks before the vacation or whatever we are aiming for give us the will to have a final go at it, plus being excited and busy all helps.

In all seriousness, I have a friend who is DH's age of 66 and had her "saddlebags" removed about 5 years ago. She still looks great. I am going to consider doing this if I ever get to my ideal weight.

I agree that the last few pounds we want to loose seem to take forever. I will be happy with whatever I can loose as DH seems to think I am still size 3 as those are the size of clothes he always brings me home from a trip. Ah....the eyes of love see what they want to see.

Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:

I was told that you had to complete 5 to be gold, and complete 10 to be platinum. If you book cruise 6 on board, you don't get the gold OBC - but you do get the advanced booking perks and the gold gift in your cabin.:

I agree that you have to have completed X number of cruises to be considered at the next level (Gold or Platinum). However, we were told and I think Noel was told as well, that the OBC you receive will be based on what your level is at the time of your sailing (starting in 2011). Thus if you take cruise number 6 in 2011, then you should receive the higher OBC for gold members at the time you sail, regardless of when you booked or what OBC you were promised at the time of booking. (This is how it was explained to me onboard.)

I know we don't stay on a topic long, but I really don't remembering chatting about recycling underware... :rotfl2:

The underwear thread is best forgotten. I think it was way back in part 3 or 4. It's been a few months since that one!

It doesn't make sense that you would not get the on board credit if you had already COMPLETED five cruises when you boarded. The way it was explained to me yesterday by the DCL Castaway Club rep on the phone was that if your had COMPLETED your fifth cruise when you board, you WOULD get the on gold credit and gifts. You might just call the Castaway at DCL and reconfirm.

If I remember correctly, the recycled underwear came up in a conversation about throwing them away and having them returned by room steward.

Agree on both counts.

:
So if the WBTA is my 5th is it better to book on board or wait til I get home so I can get the gold OBC? (So much to learn...) :confused3

Never wait to book if there is a cruise you really want to do! You could book it now, and reshop it onboard to get the benefits. Plus, as mentioned above, we were told onboard in Dec and Jan that when they start the OBCs that are tiered with your CC level in 2011, that you will receive the appropriate OBC based on your level at the time you sail, not at the time you originally booked.

Daniel Taxi is in Madeira. If you are interested, please send me PM and I will tell you all the details and add you to the list.

I have not made firm plans in Gibraltar. Will keep you posted.

Thanks so much; will PM after talking w/DH.

No, no, no. Just trying to help out the economy.

Woody

And job well done, Woody.

I wanted to say :welcome: to all the new cruisers. This should be a great cruise. As always w/DISers, there are a lot of friendly, helpful folks here.

Corinna, I have to say that your dress is gorgeous! Unfortunately, DH and I will probably pass on all of the formal/semiformal dinners; he refuses to dress up and I don't know how we'd pack all that stuff anyway.

I'm getting very nervous about packing everything we need since we've never done anything remotely like this before. Dunno how much $ we'll need to convert. If anyone has recommendations, I'd love to hear them. Thx.

I should have thought of that! It's MM4MM (Skokie, IL). I'm just here on business travel this week and looking for some ideas for evening distractions. We're actually the ones on the Google map right next to Port Canaveral (Oviedo, FL).

Well, there are Cubs games if you want to go to baseball. And I suppose you could go see the White Sox, but that is criminal in my eyes - I am a DIE HARD CUBBIES fan. My father instilled it in me, as his father did to him... Don't forget to splurge and go out for a good Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza. Quite the experience. Navy Pier is good for walking, very touristy... Walk the magnificent Mile and window shop. If you have time there are museums galore!! Science and Industry really needs at least a day to really do it, but there are others that are open in the evenings that you can do.

If I were to noodle it a while I could come up with tons more - what do you typically like to do / see when you visit somewhere that DCL doesn't go to? :rotfl2:

It doesn't make sense that you would not get the on board credit if you had already COMPLETED five cruises when you boarded. The way it was explained to me yesterday by the DCL Castaway Club rep on the phone was that if your had COMPLETED your fifth cruise when you board, you WOULD get the on gold credit and gifts. You might just call the Castaway at DCL and reconfirm.

If I remember correctly, the recycled underwear came up in a conversation about throwing them away and having them returned by room steward.

So, we were told that we wouldn't get the gold OBC until after the 5th - that was from the agent on the ship. I like that you do though as it makes sense (and maybe that is why there is such confusion :confused3

Ah, yes - the undies in the trash thread... I remember now... Started with one of the we throw everything away and then shop before going home posts... :rotfl2: Still good for a laugh!

I have had trouble losing weight since hitting 40. Even exercising doesn't seem to help and I just yo-yo up and down a few lbs. want to get down to 140lbs before this cruise, but have a stubborn 7lbs hanging on in there.:sad2:

I can't get seem to loose the weight I gained with pregnancy. I was on pretty strict bedrest for all, and while I initially lost weight (sick), that didn't last long...

Are there any viewers of "Deadliest Catch" from Discovery Channel on-board with me? Tonight's episode is going to be very difficult to watch. I just might have to recorded it and watch later.

Last week's episode was difficult to swallow too. When Jake told his dad he was an addict and then Phil told him he wanted him out of his life and to never see him again after they got back to port, you just couldn't help but think about those words from his pop. Imagine how Jake must have felt when he saw that fight air on television, months after his death. I hope the young man is on a road to recovery in honor of his dad's love for him. :sad1:

Yes, we too will be watching. My heart breaks for Phils boys - especially Jake. How awful if will be to see that episode replayed and replayed... I too hope that he has opted to get into a good rehab program - and that he sticks with it.

This is so true!! Especially since you can normally get a reduced deposit along with the OBC. you can always move the date to one that works...
Oh - and don't forget to get the friends and family certificates! That way everyone gets some pixie dust!

So after MANY MANY hours of feeling like a total bum sitting in front of this computer I have finally read at least this "chapter" of the thread now. (If there was anything important in chapters 1-5 I will assume Johanna would have told me about it.)

Introductions for those who don't know me yet: (or you can wait until the icebreakers in the RBD - apparently I was pretty good at introducing myself there last time)... :cool1: I'm Kimberly. But to avoid the Sarah/Ann/Lynn/Linda confusion you can call me Kimmy and Buckeye Gal can stay Kimberly. :hippie: I sailed with some of these pirates in 2008 on the EBPC and that's where I met my roommate for this trip. And all I can say is thank GOD she's more organized than me and helps keep me on track!! We're doing Palo brunch & dinner and got all the excursions we wanted because she has stayed on top of it!! :worship: Works great cause I'm just here to go with the flow...

Look forward to trying to stay up with this thread from now on and look forward to meeting those of you I don't know yet.

See, I told you Johanna is on top of it... lovin' the special tours!!:thumbsup2

 Hi Kimmy

Did Johanna tell you that you need to come out to SF for the Pirate Festival next year?

OK had a lovely weekend but I'm officially knackered now! Anyway trying to catch up on posts so here goes

It is pretty much the same gown as in this photo:

Bhc6yDwB2kKGrHqQOKioEry9ucReBLJQi0b.jpg

It has loads of intricate embroidery and the photo really does not do it justice. This is the most beautiful item of clothing I ever owned. I can't wait to try it on later. It definitely does need a tiara. This is a gown fit for a princess if I have ever seen one.

Corinna

Corinna thats a lovely dress!

I spoke with a truly lovely CM this morning at DCL about the FSC and she apologized profusely that we would not be getting a refund/credit as oil closed at $77/barrel yesterday. She was so sweet and kept telling me how much I am going to enjoy our cruise that I kinda forgot for a minute that they were keeping some of my money that I had hoped to use for excursions. I want to work for Disney when I retire. If they can make you forget or even feel ok about losing money then they are doing an awesome job training their employees. :rotfl2:

LOL I'm sure they train them far too well at this!

Awe! That's the cutest thing to say! It brings a happy tear to my eye. I will have to pass that thought along to DMom.

The great news is that mom and her husband are both dealing with Sidney's passing much better with her around. I'm very thankful for that!

I hope things are still going well and that your family are coping!

I had been trying to decide whether to snorkel on Tortola or St Marteen. Looks like I'll go for a DCL snorkel excursion on Tortola because of the limited time. Gee, I guess I should have been paying attention to the port times when trying to figure out what I wanted to do.

But then again I've been trying to figure out if I was even going to sail. And now that is in jeopardy again. DS is at a Six Flags park today and called earlier to say he lost one of his hearing aids on a roller coaster. There goes my cruise money if I have to replace it. Wonder if my homeowners insurance will cover it? I've had good luck with Disney lost and found. Let's hope Six Flags is just as effective. He knows exactly where he lost it. He felt it go and almost caught it. So hopefully they will truly do a sweep of the ground under the coaster like they said they would.

Oh no! Hope its found!

Right, formal wear. I love the idea of dressing up, but the reality is I'm not that comfortable dressed up too much and can't see myself in a ball gown. What are you all considering wearing? I have noticed that the longer cruises see more dressing up than the shorter ones, and I will indeed make a big effort.:lmao:

I am wearing a long cocktail dress thats shaped at the front so I can walk in it. Its purple and it will be worn on both formal nights as I can't be bothered to find another dress lol!

Just checked our online reservation and noted that our Cat 7 GTY status has been updated to an actual number! I'll be updating the roll call with our number!

Not sure if this got kicked up early as they ended up reshopping my category to throw a few dollars back on the credit card so that the fuel surcharge went away....hmmmmm....

Michael

Congrats on the room!

I got my dad a tshirt that says " The Bank of Dad " on it:goodvibes

Drats I wish I'd seen that Tshirt! Where was it from

Having said that, last year I found some Crocs with heels that are really comfortable and don't make my ankle swell if I wear them. I got a blue pair last year and bought some black ones for the Med cruise, which I wore every evening.

Corinna

Oh these look fab! May have to look for these!

So, I just logged into my disney cruise online to make sure I have everything ready for tonight and I had a message stating that a Fuel Supplement Credit had been applied to our account! We booked on points thru DVC so I thought it must be a mistake but I just called member services and DCL and there's a $224 credit on our account!!! Wooohoooo!! That was a nice surprise! :woohoo:

Just thought I should give a heads up to anyone else who maybe never noticed it when they logged in. It was in a small box on the right hand side under Retrieve Another Reservation.

I printed it out just in case there are any problems!!

Interesting! Very odd! I think there was a thread awhile back where DVC people had got the FSC back while non-DVC hadn't

OK just 30 more pages to go!

:rotfl: Hoping that will catch someones eye...

Someone paid $24.00 towards shirts via PayPal and didn't list a DIS or full name on the payment, so I don't know who sent it.

I have tried to match the amount - but no one has the total that was sent ($24.00). :confused3

I tried to send an email based on the email address shown on PayPal, but it has bounced.

Any takers? I need to give credit to someone on my list... :headache:

For me, I need a what NOT to pack list!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:rotfl2: Me too. I know i will take far too many clothes.

I actually bought a dress in the sales today. Should do for formal night, though it isn't long. I will need some fine shrug or something to hide the upper arm crepey skin!! Once I am there I probably won't care, but I will need something. Most of what I can find are fairly heavy weight or a little too sparkly for this dress, but most of all some are far more money than the dress cost!!!:lmao: I'm really very pleased as I don't 'do' dresses really.

What is the "friends & family certificate?" Sounds like something my family will be bugging me about to book for them...

 Hi Kimmy

Did Johanna tell you that you need to come out to SF for the Pirate Festival next year?

pirate: Hi Monica!! Yes, I was told all about the Pirate Festival - I'm SO JEALOUS!! But if I can ever get my never-ending list done and somehow move to Tampa then we will all have to do Gasparilla also!! (See how FL pirates compare to CA pirates :rotfl: )

Hey, did Trevoy find his hearing aid? And what excursions did you finally decide on? You said you were snorkeling in Tortola - is that with the Virgin Island Sail, Snorkel, & Beach Adventure?

For me, I need a what NOT to pack list!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Amen to this one!! All I can say is thank goodness I'm flying on Delta where I've finally reached some status - that increases my weight limit & I don't have to pay for my bags! :woohoo:  :cool1:

I am so glad you found something you like. I don't like a lot of the newer style so it is hard for me find things I like at a reasonable price.

I have the same problem with heavy clothing. Most of the normal cruise clothing I wear are St John knits which weigh a ton!!

We have the Elite status on United. Our problem is our el cheapo Air Berlin flight with the one bag each limit or 150 euros per extra bag. I hate to pay that much for an extra bag!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: OMG - that's INSANE!! Now I'm even more grateful for my friend who loaned me some extra miles awhile back... :worship:

We just saw Toy Story 3. Great movie. I can't believe I cried!! Very poignant.

Oh I can't wait to see this!

I had to share this with the DIS board as no one else would understand. DH and I have spent the day finalizing our plans for shore excursion, he on his notebook and I on mine.

However, he has hooked my computer up to our 60" HD TV so he can watch my posts and when I go online to book the shore execursions.

He has just finished giving me his inputs on Castaway Cay. DH told me he is feeling sad just like our trip is ending. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

LOL I love it!

Stupid me one hour to early, we have summertime.:headache:

Better too late than not at all

good morning ......05:15 here and I am just about to try and book some stuff .......

Morning Sarah! Hope your hand is better now!

I had booked palo, but can't see it anymore. Do i have it or not?
They kicked me out.

Oh dear!

For some reason, I was under the impression we could book 2 Palo dinners due to the length of the cruise, but it will only let me book one.

Only 1 per person unfortunately!

Hope you all got everything you wanted booked tonight. My family and I are new to the DisBoards. We are doing the last Med and the TA, back2back. I have just finished reading about 100+ posts. You all sound like very experienced cruisers. This will be our family's 4th Disney Cruise. It will be me, my dh age 39 (he will be turning 40 while on the med cruise on 9-15), ds age 12, dd age 8, and g-ma (my mom). This will be g-ma's first ever cruise, so she is very excited! I signed up on the "roll call", but would also like to do the FE group, scavenger hunt, etc. It all sounds like so much fun. We are also interested in the West Madeira private excursion. I tried to PM Noel, but wasn't able to til I have 10 posts.

Hi! Welcome onboard! Glad you are joining us! I'm travelling with my other half Dan and its his first cruise (I know throwing him in at the deep end) and my 6th

Hi everyone, some great info on this thread, I just thought I would introduce myself (be gentle lol)
There is me, Tim and my DW Kerrie, we are from Yorkshire in the U.K. and love everything Disney, we got married in Florida in 2003 on our first trip together to WDW and have been back every year since. This will be our 3rd DCL cruise and can't wait  We bought DVC at Bay Lake Tower last year while on the Magic and have booked this cruise with DVC points (only 330 for both of us :thumbsup2 )
We fly to Barcelona on the 17th with Easyjet from Doncaster and are staying at the Marriot Reannaisance for the night.
I was also up at 5am this morning and managed to get Palo dinner for the day and time that I wanted as well as the 2 shore excursions I wanted, but you can add me to the growing list who couldn't get brunch :sad1: so I will keep checking online or try onboard.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better (I think I know a couple of you already) not long now :banana::banana::banana::banana:

Tim

More Brits I see! Welcome aboard. We're flying on the 17th with BA from Heathrow and are staying at the Renaissance. We don't get in until 10pm mind! You can join us in the spot the cruisers lol! There are a few of us there overnight!

Hi! My mom went online last night, it was her 90 day mark, she went to sign up
for Palo brunch and tea...it was already gone! She was a little upset with this, it
is one of the few things she,my grandmother and great aunt really want to do.
She called DCL and she was told that gold and platinum members took the ressies.
Anyone else run into this? She is really upset and disappointed. Any suggestions

There should be some released when we get onboard so try and book then, and also they take a waitlist once we get onboard.

I read somewhere that Disney finances and sends their own pyrotechnics to Barcelona for the two EBTA arrivals in part as a publicity event to let Europe know they are there. So, I highly doubt we'll get a send-off of the same nature. :sad1:
:rotfl2:

It's okay if they don't b/c we'll get them for the Pirates party (weather permitting)! It will be cool if they do though! :goodvibes

Does anyone know if there were fireworks for the last WBTA?:

There weren't any on the WBTA unfortunately!

OK! So we were away for the weekend...and it was not practical to get up at 5am UK time..and try to pay for an Internet Access..that was not even available to pay for.........so we missed everything. No bookings for Palo, the nights we wish for....nor even nights we not wish for. Checked just.............and rubbish bookings left.
Am so not happy.........Surely there must be a better fairer system?
:-( :confused3

Sorry Lynne!! Hopefully youll get something when they release extras onboard!

For me, I need a what NOT to pack list!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You are too funny!!!

Last weekend I was able to talk my husband into booking the Med cruise right before our TA (it took lots of convincing). But...I called Disney and they let us transfer our "pre-Barcelona" hotel nights (3) and apply it to the Med cruise. In the end, we only had to pay an extra $1628 for myself, my dh and dd (8). My mom and ds (12) cruise only cost them a total of $874 extra after their pre-cruise stay in Barcelona was credited.
I also tried to recoup the fuel surcharge as many of you did, but was denied. I was told that it was great that we have the OBC. Kinda like, "Look on the bright side.."

Also, has anyone booked airfare through DCL. I was just wondering when we would find out which airline, flight times, etc. I have heard mixed reviews, but hopefully they will give us a good flight.

Lastly, just wanted to say thanks to all of you, (especially those I see here posting every day), for all of the great info you have. You all do so much reaearch and all of your tips are great! I have been reading these posts since our PC crossing in 2008, so it only took my 2 yrs to join. Thanks again!
