Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.5

Thanks for your help! We'll be in touch...... I know there are companies that do pickups at the airports....we might do that, unless we decided to fly through New York City JFK.

Not sure if you had this info already...

(not at home so this is off the top of my head). :scared:

Cities in US with direct flights to BCN are Atlanta (Delta), Philly (I think USAirways), Newark (Continental), and two airlines have flights out of JFK.

Of course lots of airlines codeshare with their partners.

I think some people here got good fares from consolidators, but we lucked into a decent one way fare from Lufthansa. We fly into Frankfurt and then into BCN.

Good luck!

I would have loved that - how lucky are you???? The night ones are especially beautiful because you can watch it forever in the sky. We blare the TV and stand outside so we can hear everything. That is nice that the Captain did that - unfortunately not a launch when we are around the area. The next launch is Sept. 16, maybe it will be delayed for 10-12 days or so. We can hope!!!!

We will put a shuttle launch delay on our list of wants!! :thumbsup2

Well congrats Philly fans....an Islander fan here....we play a great game of golf these days!

OK fellow Transatlantic cruisers.....never did anything longer than a 7 night cruise.....so maybe some of the experts can help me. First, we are flying on DCL air....any idea when we will be assigned flights....we are flying from JFK to Barcelona and then MCO to JFK.....secondly we are category 11 GTY....any idea when and if they assign staterooms on the longer cruises any earlier than the 7 night ones?

Thanks....hopefully some of you experts out there have some advice.

Tom:cool1:

The staterooms should be assigned by around 30 days out. They have a limited crew and they are working on current cruises, then move to the next, then the next. Same as the 7 night.

So we had an interesting evening tonight. Around 5:15ish, a thunderstorm started to roll into Allentown, PA. I was at my parent's house at the time and I was just playing around on the computer. Next thing I knew, we had a severe thunderstorm warning...did I mention my parent's are puppy-sitting two dogs and one dog HATES thunderstorms. The storm starts and it's gettng pretty bad...next thing I know, I heard hail...1-3" inch hail. I run to the front of the house and look out the window at our cars parked in the driveway and the hail was bouncing off the cars like mad! :scared1:

So it continues to hail...next thing I know my sister tells us that there is a tornado warning! There is no basement at my parent's house so my sister says that we are going into the bathroom because there are no windows in there. So, my sister gathers our purses, we put the dogs on their leashes and take the computer into the bathroom. We were in there for a good 15 minutes until the storm had passed. Although we didn't have a tornado, a funnel cloud was reported in a town next to Allentown.

We don't get funnel clouds or tornado warnings very often, so when they happen it is scary. When the storm was over, the skies cleared and the sun came out. Thankfully there was no damage done to the cars... but it was an interesting early evening!

:scared1::eek: Not the kind of excitement one wants! Glad all is well.

I just read that It's a Small World will be closed while we are at WDW. :headache: That is just WRONG!!

We had the hail about the same time, but I can say it was not as bad as last year. I took pictures and the hail looked like a sheet of ice on the lawn.

I wish I would have taken a picture before we took cover in the bathroom because most of the hail had melted by the time I got outside. It was crazy though!

I just read that It's a Small World will be closed while we are at WDW. :headache: That is just WRONG!!

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:(

Good morning :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We now have .......

ONLY 18 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

It's funny to hear 'good morning' because I'm thinking that I need to get to bed since it's almost 2am here! LOL! Regardless, it is still only 18 weeks until we set sail!!!!

Hi all, as some of you know, I (and my colleagues) have been fundraising for Canteen and Child Cancer Foundation. Thanks to those here who donated to our cause :lovestruc

We raised nearly $5000 over the last 8 or so weeks and last night we had our heads shaved.

I opted of a #4 on the clippers as I didn't want to look like a skinhead for our trip not to mention, I burn very easily and even though its nearly winter here now, the UV index is still very high (we have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world (even more so than Australia).

So without further ado, here is my new style - its taking some getting used to I have to say and it feels like a plush toy :rotfl:

Also while I was updating pictures, I also updated the Candy Swap page - still room to join if anyone is interested. I'd be happy to create group 6 ;)

I just read that It's a Small World will be closed while we are at WDW. :headache: That is just WRONG!!

Noooooo, I'm so sorry for you. However John will be happy that I don't have to force him on for once!!!

What, is was closed at DL and now at WDW, it has been years agh!

Pj

Yes I remember it being closed at DL after the PC cruise and we had been told it was slightly different and worth riding!!! I would have thought by now that Angie and Dennis and their love story would be famous enough for Disney NOT to close IASW when they are going to a Dianey park!!! Not good enough IMHO!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

By the way, I have to tell you what I did yesterday. I went to the beach, Gulf side and the water was 83 (why isn't it like that at Castaway) anyway, I was swimming, floating, lounging and I saw this huge thing underway coming at me. First I thought, shadow of some kind, second, seaweed and third school of fish. Then i noticed it was quite huge. :scared1:I didn't panic but wasn't breathing and it lifted its head from the water and it was a manatee! I was so excited. I love animals, mammals, etc. so the start of my Mother's Day was fabulous as I swam next to a manatee!!!! Had to share:lovestruc

OMG that must have been incredible! We have seen them in the wild near Kennedy Space Centre (Merritt Island) but to swim with them must have been amazing!

Gorgeous pic!

And to all of you , thank you for at least reading ...and now let me share with you pictures of one of the Happiest days of my life ...

Congratulations to you both and Helen is beautiful! I hope you have a lone and happy life together.

Todd,

Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the start of a new journey and blessings to you two. May your compass point to each otherpirate:

Jon

That is brilliant!

Will try to catch up on the rest of the posts tomorrow - I'm about a week behind :headache:

Thanks, have you ever seen cruise ship diarys?

No, on whits channel was this?
http://natgeotv.com/uk/cruise-ship-diaries
We did get to see a night launch from the Magic. It was an amazing once in a lifetime event!! The Captain kept us just off shore rather than heading on out. :goodvibes The launch was around 8:45 I think. We were late dining and when it was launch time the restaurant emptied and we all ran out to watch, hear, feel it. Felt bad for the servers, but they understood and picked up the pace when we returned so that dinner was not too late finishing.
That would be amazing.

Our stateroom host dressed our monkeys for us! (We were in the Roy Suite so we got one for each bedroom.)

Up front apologies... this is long... So, grab a conch cooler substitute, take a load off and read up on where we are...

Daily Update!
Ahoy Mates! This is the first of many daily updates that will be sent out! I say daily, but I imagine that they could be sent out 2X per day as we are trying to wrap things up and we don’t want anyone to be left out.

T SHIRTS
The t-shirt deadline is looming and I need all ye orders as quickly as possible! We get a price break at 100 shirts and as of today we are at 64. To keep the prices in line, we really need to get all orders in as soon as possible. As a reminder, our cutoff date for ordering shirts is May 31. So, no time like the present, please get your orders in. NO EXTRA SHIRTS WILL BE ORDERED!!!

PRICING:
Shirts should come in at about $12-$13 per shirt. This is for sizes up to an adult XL. Shirts above XL will have a slightly higher price. We are getting a very high quality shirt that should not shrink, and should hold the screened image very well.

SHIPPING:
The captain is able to secure a flat rate to ship for the US. We are looking at about $8 per box. There is no other easy way to do this, so get 1 get 4 the shipping rate will be the same. Shipping internationally may present a problem – but we are not certain. Different countries will treat boxes differently. We are suggesting that we ship one box to country or geographical area – or, if you have a US counterpart that can bring your shirts to the ship that would work as well. Obviously, we can’t and won’t say that we will only ship one box to South Wales, or Australia – but that would be the most economical. For shipping fees for non US orders, please send me your postal code. We will plug it into the system and get the actual costs to ship.

I WILL NEED EVERYONES ADDRESSES FOR SHIPPING.

IF YOU ARE IN THE US – PLEASE SEND ME THE FOLLOWING IN AN EMAIL TO wbta.pirate.shirts@gmail.com:
DIS Name
Real Name
Shipping address including your zip for postal service

If you are outside of the US, I need to know if you are willing to receive and either bring to the ship, or re package and send to other people in your area. For instance, if you are in Australia, are you willing to carry all of the AU and NZ shirts to Barcelona, or are you willing to accept and re post shirts to others in your part of the world. In addition, please let me know the above shipping information shown above via email to wbta.pirate.shirts@gmail.com .

IF THIS IS CONFUSING PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP!

PAYMENT:

We are looking to set up and accept PayPal as this is easier than mailing checks. PayPal accounts are free, but there may be a small service charge on each transaction. While PayPal is preferred, checks and money orders will also be accepted. More details to come on this!

FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE

For anyone that is interested, I still have spots open!! For those that are new to the group, we had concerns about luggage weight restrictions, so we broke into smaller groups. We are aiming for groups of about 15 cabins – however, the last groups may be smaller or larger depending on last minute signups. ALL ARE WELCOME but we need to have everyone signed up by MAY 28. I am sorry to impose a deadline, however, by this time, the PIF date has passed, and we need to be mindful that people are making gifts.

Once all of the groups are confirmed I will post the final groupings. From here, I would appreciate it if the groups would appoint someone (a group lead) to facilitate cabin assignment changes that take place at time of or after boarding. It is my intention to post the groups before we leave for the airport on the 15th. However, after this date, I am flying blind. Upon boarding, we will post a dry erase board, and put a pad of sticky notes in our FE so you can let me know of cabin changes. I will have the spreadsheet with me and will have a master listing available. If you upgrade or move cabins and your group lead is not onboard, please call our cabin (8548) and leave me a message with your group name (KIWI, PINEAPPLE, etc, your DIS Name, old cabin and new cabin number. If you change cabins after 4pm all aboard, please contact your group lead with the prior information. The group leads will get the message out to the group.

TASTINGS

Deadline of July 10th as we have to get with DCL and get these set up. I suggest the same deadline for the others pulling tastings together. There are a couple of us that will be working with a DCL rep to schedule these. We are aiming for sea days only, avoiding other entertainment series events.

By July 10th I need to have full names and cabin numbers for those that are in the tasting groups. This is not a me thing, this is a DCL thing as they are going to set these up and will be counting on a certain number of people. I will be posting a GOOGLE docs spreadsheet to put this information into. More data to come on this in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to get it all our there!
Sue

Oh my what a lot of work you have been doing on our behalf. Thanks Su.

The new haircut looks good Paula. Kylie Minogue had a similar haircut and I thought it suited her.

Lynn, we will ship direct to you - no worries. We were looking for options to save people money thats all.

As for cabin numbers, I know we have to supply as much info as possible to book out the tastings, but hey, if DCL doesn't assign the cabin number, then they can't really get too bent about it...

Glad everyone was safe. Our "pup" doesn't like storms either. So, I can understand how that can make and evening fun. We had some heavy rain and t-storms pass through on Thursday night. Last night I went to the basement to get something and stepped into a puddle of water :scared1: Damage wasn't nearly as bad as it seemed at first. Most stuff was safe.

I just read that It's a Small World will be closed while we are at WDW. :headache: That is just WRONG!!

That might be a good thing. I know I won't be "small" after two weeks on the ship:lmao:

Good morning :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We now have .......

ONLY 18 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

:cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo:

Jon

Hate to tell you this.....but if you're worried about kids on your cruise, you probably shouldn't have booked a Disney cruise!!! :rotfl: There are going to be kids and they are going to be excited, and even the most well behaved kids can get a little unruly when they are dosed up with Mickey Bars and Disney excitement!!! :rotfl: I have 2, they are usually pretty good kids, but I can't guarantee you don't witness a folded arm pout or sugar induced giggling fit :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I have to say we have never had any problems with kids on our Disney cruises and we have done 4 of them so far. We have late dinner seating and spend a lot of time by the adult pool, in the spa and in the gym and often we do not see any kids for hours on end. The only cruise where kids became a bit of an issue was the 5 night part of the back to back cruise on the Norwegian Jade last year. There were less than 100 kids on that cruise, but they were a menace. Unlike on a Disney cruise, there was nothing to do for them for large parts of the day so they went around the ship to cause trouble.

The good news is I have been accepted to nursing school:banana::banana::banana::banana: I have been taking prerequisite classes for the past year toward this goal.

Now the bad news, school starts July 12, so I will officially be cancelling this cruise later this morning:sad1:

I know you will all have a wonderful time on the cruise, and I'll be thinking about all of you come September!

Congratulations for getting into nursing school. It is a shame though that you can't join us.

My phone ringtone is DCL horn also!! :dance3:

I use my iPhone as my alarm clock and the ring tone for this is the DCL horn. My ringtone for calls is the music from Soarin

I just want you guys to know I had to cancel this cruise. I know I've been MIA for awhile, but I needed a little time to pout about it.

I'm all better now though :)

My Mom is opening a new restaurant and asked me to help her get it going. There is a big festival going on for both of the weekends we'd be gone and so the timing kind of stinks. I've transferred my deposit to another cruise in Jan, and I will be turning my Oct. stay in WDW into a two week trip - so all is not lost. I was just really looking forward to meeting you all on this TA trip!

I've let Erik know about the lanyards, but I'm also signed up for the candy swap and the fish extenders. So please take me off those lists.

Have an amazing cruise everyone! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!!

I am sorry that you can't join us, but this new business venture sounds really exciting. Good luck with this.

I am concerned about custom charges if I was to receive a large quantity of t shirts. If this was not a problem, I would be more than happy to receive the t shirts for the UK and send them on, but customs will most certainly get interested if you receive a large box of identical t shirts.

So we had an interesting evening tonight. Around 5:15ish, a thunderstorm started to roll into Allentown, PA. I was at my parent's house at the time and I was just playing around on the computer.

Looks like you had a scary evening. I am glad that everybody is OK.

I just read that It's a Small World will be closed while we are at WDW. :headache: That is just WRONG!!

Oh, what a shame. I love this ride and will really miss it.

Corinna

YEAH! Steffy - glad to hear that you are Captain dining also. Bring some of that fun attitude with you and we will all have a great time! I cannot wait to eat the Bleu Cheese soup - my FAVE thing!!!

Ok I am stupid here - what is Captain dining? I assume it means you are eating with the captain but how, when, etc.? I have never heard of this.

Glad everything was ok - I live in Jackson, TN and we have had 3 major tornado's in the past 10 years go through our city so we jump everytime there is a warning.
