We got some excitment today. We got a delivery with our Mickey's Not So Scary Haloween Party Tickets :woohoo:
Our travel agent also called to say that we are elligable for the free dinning :cheer2: Things are finally starting to come together for our trip!!!

Can't wait for September to arrive!!!

:woohoo::dance3:
Free dining is good!

DH is arguing against it, but c'mon, of course! :goodvibes

We're hoping to take the train from Toronto to Vancouver (4 days) then make our way down the coast to visit family in San Fran. The train is pricey, but VIA has sales every now and then that give great discounts on their first class sleeper car fares that would make it doable. It's supposed to be an awesome, awesome train trip (top 10 in the world). :cool2:

Oh, we would LOVE to do that train!

This sound similar to my hoped for plans on 09/17. :rotfl: I get to BCN at 7:55am, shuttle to hotel 10:30ish, store bags, hit the hop on hop off bus, HRC for afternoon drink meet, more sites, late dinner, sleep??? I had really wanted to do the segway tour on Saturday afternoon, but if DCL isn't letting us off after we get on the ship, then that is out.

This is the hop on hop off I am looking at, it has three routes;

We are doing this with you!! We will wait for you at the hotel! :cloud9:

I feel so loved, I will move my tush to get there as soon as I can.

Pj

That sounds like a lot of fun! Have you ever been to DL? I love the train too...too bad there isn't a train to Spain from the US! LOL!

Yes, go with 3 weeks in Cali, I so want to go back, 2 days was so not enough! Would be cool to try Virgin America from YYZ to LAX, those seats look awesome,:cloud9:.

Pj

I am so pleased - I finally learned to multi-quote! Yay me!

I have never been to DL - very much want to visit. There are so many places in California that I wish to visit: DL, the giant Redwoods, San Fran, LA, San Diego. The list is endless, thus the need for 3 weeks or so. I'd love to see a bit of Nevada, too.

THose seats do look awesome but I can't imagine they are economy class! With 5 of us traveling it can add up pretty quickly.

And yes to everyone that replied, the train trip looks so awesome. I hear the food is very good too. Definately more than a mode of travel for us: it would really make the trip. If you google pics the scenery just looks breathtaking. Keeping our fingers crossed that we can book it at a discount. It's about 1500 each before discounts for the 4 days. I think we are looking at a October, November or Feb/March date so low season.
I certainly have to start saving my pennies.

DW hotfudgesundae and I did this trip in Nov 2004 and it was awsome. :cool1: The food was really great and the scenery was spectacular. We stopped off at Jasper for three nights so we could visit Banff, do the National Parks etc.
Had the Silver and Blue sleeper and it was worth it. The steward would make up the bed each night while we were at dinner :goodvibes I know you would enjoy this..

sounds amazing

O Thanks that's a good taster...

It mentions the onboard gallery and art auctions, I think I remember reading this is not a Disney owned gallery. Do they sell Disney art? and what goes on at the auctions? has anyone bought anthing? what sort of prices are the pieces?

Thanks

SW

They probably will be selling some Disney some non or at least thats what I've found before. As Ducky is onboard theyll have some of his Disney peices. Prices were quite high when I went on there before. I won a painting in one of the raffles and even the postage to the UK was $75!!! They used to give you a small peice of artwork for attending. The plates from Animators Palate were on sale on one of the cruises I did and I think it was around the $100 mark!

We've been trying to rebook our flight home from the 2nd to the 4th to stay with the Mouse a bit longer. We got some good news today that our travel agent has negotiated the exhorbitant fee of $135/ticket down to $50/ticket to chage our flights with a $51 credit so it's looking favourable! We just need to get final confirmation tomorrow. So excited to be doing the Oct 3rd MNSSHP! I think we are going to be as economical as possible (after the excesses on the ship) and book 2 rooms at Pop, and only go into the parks on the 2nd and the 3rd for the party only. It seemed so wrong to be so close to the Mouse and not go!

Congrats!

I second that about getting a taxi after the horrible long flight. Are you flying via Singapore and London? I'm sure you arrive before us, we leave home on the 16th?

Robert is flying with Singapore airlines so goes Christchurch-Singapore-Milan-Barcelona and I'm on Qantas going Christchurch-Sydney-Somewhere_in_Asia?-Heathrow-Barcelona. Robert leaves around 3 hours before me and arrives about 3 hours before me in Barcelona but he has about 5 hours in Singapore stop over while I get to fly the extra few thousand kms to Heathrow then back track to Barcelona. Mum is going Air New Zealand via the US to the UK first to visit family. We leave here on the 14th and arrive the day before Mum in Barcelona. We sound like the royal family with all these different airlines :rotfl2:

Two weeks of clothes, formal wear, pirate wear, shoes, hair dryer! Are two bags going to be enough??????:lmao::lmao:

We were just talking about this too - I've put a bunch of stuff into my suitcase that I was planning on taking - I am going to trim it down to the bare essentials I think. I simply don't need to take this much stuff with me.

Many people have talked about activities in the ports, so here's my plan for Barcelona to start that discussion:
OCD? :scared1:

Wow that is organised! I'm impressed. I have bought the Lonely Planet City guide to Barcelona which should arrive this week so will be setting out our plan in the next few weeks. Then I'll be working on each port in turn - we will be doing all ports independently.

Lynne, do you fancy doing the Segway tour with us?

When are you arriving in Barcelona? We could meet for coffee somewhere sometime. Not sure if I will be able to have alcohol by then or not.

We arrive on the 14th, Tuesday.

I would love the countdown chain! Then I wouldn't be the only one counting...

well one a day for sure... But I might sneak in a pastry from Cove Cafe... Or a chocolate covered strayberry... YUM!!

No problem, I have it in PDF format, PM me your e-mail address and I'll e-mail it to you, It's very cool!
A chocolate covered strawberry, I'll have the bowl thanks!

Sadly I enjoy both baking and cooking. Thus DrHug and I both are a bit fluffy and I see no end in sight to that. :guilty: I baked cinnamon scones today. They were quick, easy to make and yummy! My first attempt at scones. I plan to try dried cranberry ones tomorrow. Oh, maybe I will add a little orange to that. :goodvibes

Yum, I love cinnamon, I have it in the oats every morning! And I just can't get enough of the Churro's at WDW!!! :thumbsup2

YAY, I love getting Disney mail, no matter what it is!
Congratulations on the free dining, we had it in Septmeber 2008 for 24 days!!!! We had 2 bookings because we were there so long, We had so many snack credits left at the end of each booking, we just let the kids go wild with sweets! Oh, the sugar highs :scared1::scared1::scared1:

A very very big favor to ask!

Is there anyone out there with a daughter in the 14-16 year age range that my daughter - 15 - can become friends with before the cruise. On our cruise in October she had 2 great girls she hung out with on the ship and still talks to them on Facebook but on the EBTA she never really found a friend to hang out with. She met people but . . .

So here is a little about her - can give you more info if you PM me -

She is 15 and will be in the 10th grade on the cruise
We homeschool
She loves kareoke (sp?) on the cruise
her favorite character is Tinkerbell

if there is a chance we can connect daughters up please let me know!

Thanks in advance

Krisann

Oh, I feel for her, I'd love to help but best I can do is an 8 and a 9 year old, girls, Sorry! If you get really desperate my 9 year old would love to hang out with a "teenager"! :rotfl:

I think in the end we won't extend our trip. All the costs for our little family exceed $1500 for 2 nights/3 days, and that's staying at POP. The cancellation fees and tickets for MNSSHP are more than $500 right there. With food and lodging on top, plus park tickets, it's just too much to justify. I think I would rather we put it towards our next trip, which is to California for 3 weeks next fall or early 2012. I'm sad to miss out on an extended trip, but I'm not willing to pay that for what we'll get out of it. I'm happy for all the rest of you who are going to see The Mouse after our lovely cruise!

WDW isn't going anywhere, It will be there when your ready :goodvibes
3 weeks in California will be great and worth waiting for :thumbsup2

Many people have talked about activities in the ports, so here's my plan for Barcelona to start that discussion:

Arrive BCN a.m. 17 Sep, taxi to U232 Hotel for check-in (or store bags if too early :confused3 ).
Metro Blue Line to Sagrada Familia (Gaudi architecture) for a look.
Metro Blue Line to Le Pedrera (also Gaudi) for a look.
Metro Green Line to Columbus Monument, followed by a stroll up Las Ramblas stopping for lunch (tapas and sangria at La Zarzuela?), winding up at Hard Rock Cafe for 1700 DIS meet :drinking1 :rockband:
Metro Red Line to Poble Espanyol de Montjuic (Spanish Village), then Montjuic Fountain (Magic Fountain) :rainbow:
Finishing up with dinner at Filigrana then back to the hotel! :faint:

OCD? :scared1:
Oh my, you are organised! I'd love to copy your plan, but after 34 hours travelling, and dragged 2 kids, I think we'll grab McDonalds or something similar and sleep, unfortunately! :headache:

DH is arguing against it, but c'mon, of course! :goodvibes

WOW, that is complicated! We are flying Qantas, but leave on the 16th.:thumbsup2

Ive just fb'd you! that sounds rather rude:rotfl2:

Got it thanks!! And yes it does.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Mmmm, looks interesting. Will investigate later.

I could buy this luggage for what it would cost to pay for extra case and get nearly 10 kgs extra. I have just started a thread on the uk board to see if any advice.

It does feel so wrong to be so close and not to even go for just a little! We're going on the second and the third and doing the party on the third. I have comp tickets from working at the Disney Store that we'll use so at least that is covered. I'm so excited for the cruise, but I'm also really excited for WDW too! :)

We are staying at SSR for 4 nights after the cruise, normally we buy a 14 day ultimate park hopper but with only 4 days this year we looked at a 4 day pass, $277 :scared1: so then we looked at an AP, $414 with DVC discount :dance3: So we have ordered two APs and we will get next years trip out of them :thumbsup2 Dont know yet about MNSSHP as we have done a few so might give it a miss this year, F&W is a must though :cool1:
