Lynne, did you have a good holiday? I'm glad you didn't go abroad!:scared1:

Well it is a dismal day here today. Many schools should be back so it will be safe to venture out!!:lmao: I hate school holidays.:headache: Used to quite like them when John was teaching though.:rotfl2: Nowadays I think they are too long, and think that the children would all do so much better if they only had 4 weeks vacation like the rest of the population.;):lmao::lmao::lmao:

So, might to out of town to some shops for a change.

I know, its starting to turn into a right nightmare:confused:
I did have a lovely hol, very realxing, we laughed a lot.:goodvibes

That is a great holiday when you can laugh a lot with your best pal!!!:thumbsup2 John and I always have loads of laughs too.:dance3:

Hi folks!
Looks like we'll be joining this merry band of swashbucklers!
Dh has just told me he secretly booked this as an anniversary surprise!!!
I know a few of you from other threads and holidays.....but I don't think I'll manage to catch up on everything this late in the day!

Look forward to joining in some of the fun

x

Mandy & Mark

:welcome: on board.

Hi everyone, Wow the cruise is really getting close now - its great to see there are loads of other compulsive planners like me out there! I've been wondering how much longer I have to wait before its acceptable to drag the suitcases out??

We were so pleased when we logged on to Disney today to find we have been assigned our cabin. We were a GTY CAT6 and we have been allocated our cabin midship on level 6 as requested. Myself (Paula) and my DS 11(Tyler) and DS 8 (Samuel) all suffer from motion sickness so we didnt want to take any risks. We didnt have any problems on the 4 night Wonder cruise we did in 08 - Its a bit different bobbing around the Caribbean as oppossed to crossing the Atlantic though. We will be bringing plenty of ginger - that seems to work for us.

My DH (Gary) loves the rough seas. It doesn't bother him in the least.

We are staying in England the week before the cruise and are really looking forward to showing the boys all that England has to offer. Gary and myself have both been there several times over the years but never with the kids. Our boys are mad keen soccer (football) players and I love the Royal Family so I'm thinking we will fit in very nicely

I notice there are some more Aussies on the DISBOARD now - I think that makes 5 families in total - Disney Cruise line is not well known down here. Our travel agent mentioned it in passing to us one day and now we are hooked - I'm already eyeing off the Alaska Iterinery.

We have just completed all our ADR for the 2 weeks in Florida following the cruise - I can't believe how quickly those spots fill up!

:welcome: on board.

Hi everyone!! Well I am officially "back" on this cruise. Thanks to a little nudge by Todd, I have re-booked. We are in a Cat 11 GTY of which I am not thrilled about since I have always been in a Cat 5...but as Laura said, at least I am on the ship! I guess it will just force me to be out and about more instead of sitting on my balcony!

I have not kept up with all your planning and hope that I can catch up. Not sure at this point when we will be arriving, but may need suggestions on where to stay in Barcelona. I have family and friends in England, may go see them before going to Barcelona. Just not real sure yet. I did the WBTA in 2007 and missed my flight from JFK to Barcelona, so I would really like to arrive early and see the sights in Barcelona that I missed last time.

How do I go about getting on the lanyard list? I didnt notice any place to sign up on the website.....did I over look it?

Any information on what everyone is doing will help so that I dont spend days re-reading the last 1 1/2yrs of posts!!

I am really excited and looking forward to cruising with all my old friends and making new friends!!

It will be myself (Pam) and DH (Mike).....he has never been to Europe so this will be a new experience for him. In 2007 I flew over solo!!

:welcome: back.

I saw some postings about the price going down so I checked the DCL website. I noticed there is no longer a fuel supplement if booked now. So I checked my account and I'm still being charged a fuel supplement fee. I'm going to call DCL in the morning and ask about this but in the meantime does anyone know what this is all about? Are you still being charged the fuel supplement fee?

If you paid the fuel surcharge when you made the booking, then chances are you will be charged for this unless you rebooked. There is a cut off date for assessing if we will get a refund of the fuel surcharge. I want to say it is June 17th. I the price of the barrel of oil is below a certain level at the end of trading that day, then you get the fuel surcharge back in form of an OBC.

Those of us who booked early enough have been charged the fuel supplement fee. Some have called to have it removed (I don't know the procedure for this). I think they would either just remove the fee if you haven't PIF yet. Or an OBC if you have. Some have just left the fee in place because, if the fee ISN'T being charged at the time of sailing, we will (read that as SHOULD) be getting an OBC for it.

Unfortunately that is not correct. We booked the cruise we took last October when they were charging a fuel surcharge. The discontinued this shortly afterwards for new bookings. On the cut off date, the barrel of oil was a few cents above the amount that was specified before we would get our fuel surcharge back. Therefore we did not get anything. Yet, the vast majority of people on board had not paid the fuel surcharge as they booked once it had been stopped.

My Dad works in Engineering at Heathrow and said it was very weird yesterday! Be interesting to see what happens in the next few days!

I can well imagine. Well, I heard that they don't expect anything to change before the end of this week the very earliest. I am on a late shift today after having yesterday off so it will be interesting what today will bring.

Which airline do you work for? Karen

I work for Emirates.

Oh it is just a huge nightmare isn't it? I hope by the time you are due to fly the ash will have settled far away. I have been following a thread on a UK forum, and so many people are on there caught up either stuck at home or in the US or other countries. Someone was due to fly home from Orlando yesterday and the earliest they can be flown home is next Wednesday!!!

Which airline do you work for? It must be so difficult as the airlines don't have much info either to pass on to passengers.

It is a complete nightmare. A lot of people simply do not understand what is going on. I have heard many times that people ask as to rebook them on another airline if we cannot fly them. They just don't understand that other airlines don't fly either.

Not knowing what will happen is difficult. One of the first complaints that I took when this all started was from a customer who is desperate to get back to her home country. She screamed at me when I told her that the first date I can rebook her for would be April 20th. Of course, I will have to ring her today to tell her that she won't be going anywhere tomorrow either and might not do so for weeks to come.

DH and I were thinking of you last evening when we were talking about this and all the poor people who are affected. Hopefully the cloud will be blown away someplace else before you travel. Have you got contingency plans?

I think I might have found a solution for getting to Barcelona and I am actually quite excited about this. We were supposed to fly out on Thursday so we have two nights accommodation booked in Barcelona anyway. I found this morning that there is a Portsmouth Santander ferry that leaves on Wednesday at 11:00 and gets into Santander at Midday the following day. From Santander, there are regular trains to Madrid that take 4.5 hours. From Madrid there are then lots of high-speed trains to Barcelona that take about 2.5 hours. I checked the timings and we could be in Barcelona at 22:48 on the Thursday. That still gives us the whole of Friday in hand if something goes wrong or to explore Barcelona if everything goes according to plan. Now I just have to convince my employer to let me take two additional days leave.

If I can't get the additional leave, then there is a plan B. There are regular ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre so we could get on the 11 PM ferry on Thursday, which would get us to Le Havre by 8:00 AM on Friday. From there we would have to get a train to Paris and then Paris to Barcelona. This might be cutting it a bit fine, but it still should work.

Keep your fingers crossed that I can get the additional leave.

Corinna

Corinna, your plans look very doable and it looks like you are going to make the cruise!!!!!!

I really hope so. I am in the process of completing the online check in for the cruise and will start packing in a minute.

This week seems to be a conversation about formal dress for diners. So, question of the week, from the Curse of the Black Pearl, is: Who were the two characters that dress in women’s clothing to distract the Royal Navy?

PM answers please.

Jon

Good morning all!

The ash thing is really putting a crimp in everyone's plans. A bunch of Brits from my husband's company were supposed to fly here for a week long meeting starting this Sunday. Needless to say, they cancelled the meeting this morning.:headache:

I really need to plan what we are doing in each port... Signing up for the excursions is creeping up on me!

Do you think we should start posts for each port and try to gather the best links together? (or is that too much work?)

I would be willing to be in charge of gathering all the Gibraltar information posted from this point forward, if you all think that it would help.

I could post links to the port posts on the afternoon tea list.

Let me know what you all think!

Kathy

I miss the summers off with my kids. My GK's have only 6 weeks off in summer which means I can't spend August at the Lake with them like I did with my kids.

LittleDisneyLovers and Goiou:

Something else that my kids did on the EBPC cruise was the Coast to Coast sleepover in the Club. They had a blast! They actually stay all night. I think we picked them up at 7:30 am. If I remember correctly, you do need to sign up for that soon after getting the kids set up in the clubs. :)

Are your grand kids in year round school? I would really like that option. It was discussed a few years ago, but never really went anywhere.
