Great, done! We trying to work out how we can get some beer there, although DH is a bourbon drinker, so just for others to taste. Have to check out how much room we have left after I've packed.

Question, do the kids make friends in kids clubs? I was wondering whether I should set up an e-mail address for them and make little cards for them to give to new friends? They are 8 and 9, DD's.

I never thought of cards or even email for my DS who will be 7. I'm pretty sure kids will make friends on this trip. lots of sea days where they will all be in the lab together.

Anyway, the timing isn't too good, and it could be we have to cancel this cruise. Hopefully if nothing is wrong, and they don't want to do further investigations all will be ok(and I am going with that outcome), but I only get to see the consultant at the end of April and PIF date for the cruise is May 21st, so if I need a gallbladder operation I don't think it would be urgent enough to get done by then. The problem is I wouldn't be covered by insurance. We have an annual policy that finishes in June, and so of course vacations after then won't be covered and no company would cover me for any ongoing problem. They covered me for this last vacation once I got the ok from the doctors but said next year would be different!

If we do have to cancel, then the flights are in place for us to rebook if we can, which we would do, though I chose our room and wouldn't have it then!! I so want to cruise with old friends and new.

I haven't been joining any groups, but will when I can!!!!!!!

Oh no!! A gallbladder surgery can't be scheduled in 3 months?? April to July with 2 months to recover?? We will for sure keep you in our prayers! Not only because we REALLY want to sail with you again, but also just because we love you!!

Hello All,

I just got word back from Barcelona tonight. They are offering reduced drink prices to our group. I will need to know how many, so that they can provide "bracelets" for identification. Here's the offer:

3€ beer, wine, soft drinks, water, juices
6€ long drinks (vodka,gin,whisky,rum)

I don't know what the going rate is these days but from my previous travels to Spain these sound reasonable.

Of course, we would need to deconflict with the "drinkie-poos" (do I have that right? Vacations are so tough!

What say you?

Marilyn Happy Birthday and I am so so crossing my fingers for you right now with the gallbladder stuff. They thought Dan was going to need his out about 6 months ago but it seems to have got better recently - they couldn't see any gall stones so couldn't tell what it was but said it may need surgery. Fingers crossed its something equally straight forward.

If we PIF and have to cancel before 45 days we lose our deposit which is $600 for this cruise, after that it is the full amount I think. No insurance company would cover me until everything was fully ok after the surgery.

I had a rather interesting day, the horse dentist came and gave them a dental, it is amazing, the horses are so trusting, he puts a huge metal gag into mouth, then racks it open then goes at the teeth with a huge rasp.
then he cleans up all the tarter and stuff.then they rinse out with special stuff. They are very well behaved nags though, I am a kinda no nonsense horse owner, well actually just person

I understand what you are going through. I found out two weeks ago that I have a growth on my pancreas and had an MRI on Friday. I am still waiting for the results. The doctors have told me they think it is from passing gall stones a couple of years ago before I had the gall bladder removed. I hope they are right and it isn't anything more serious. Good luck to you. My gall bladder surgery was the easiest I have had and I was back to work in 10 days.

Thanks to the Marine Corps, I traveled to (in no particular order!) Mexico, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Wake Island, and the Philippines - not to mention almost all 50 States.

Australia actually came after I "retired." I got into modeling and simulation for military training and I had a couple of meetings with a software developer, once in Canberra and once in Adelaide and Sydney. Later, I was named as Chair for a NATO Committee. Besides my third trip to Australia (Brisbane), I've added New Zealand, Fiji, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, and Sweden to the tally. No, Australia isn't in NATO but they are an invited partner, so we decided to have one of our meetings there!

I'm still doing the modeling and simulation for training bit, only as a civilian for the Marine Corps now.

We need to decide on a date and time. The original concept was for Friday the 17th, since many of us won't be arriving in Barcelona until that morning. We need to deconflict with Lynne's (I hope I have that right) soirée. We could go for an afternoon gathering (tapas?) or a late evening get-together, although the jet lag monster may reach out and grab those of us coming across the pond! Alternatively, we could move it to the 16th for those who will be in town.

It's open for discussion!!! Input, please!
