Last week I was able to book my one way FF tickets on American Airlines :woohoo: non-stop to Barcelona.....

Got my hotel booked.......:yay:

Let the party begin! :dance3:

Fantastic!!!! :thumbsup2 Still need all of the above for myself!!! :rotfl2:

The cost of the return flights will decide whether we do the cruise or not. WE are doing the Panama Canal not long after so it wouldn't be tooooooo much of a disappointment, but I would miss cruising with my friends.:sad1:

Fingers crossed youll be able to muster both as we will miss you

Your too funny.

I know but I met lots and lots of great folks in there.

I am glad it went so well.

Is that another victem for dancing then?lol

Brilliant, your posh, a tour guide!:cutie:

LOL trust me Dan will not dance! He doesn't even dance with me just likes the music. He is however going to do dance classes while onboard if they offer them!

Quite a while as we are hoping to stay in Orlando for a few weeks. If we leave on 22nd October say, then the flights won't be out till just after 22nd November. Oh, the waiting. Plus I am due to be on jury service from the 23rd. Argh, bad timing - you have to really be on the ball for reward flights.

our return flights will not be released for a while - but that will be under $200,,,,,,it is the going over that is a killer for us as many US airlines do not allow u to book one way at a reasonable price - especially to Europe.
RT NY to Barcelona next fall was $800ish on AA - one way was $2500!
CRAZY!

I am seeing Aer Lingus as the most reasonable one-way option. . .
We're back.

While onboard, I met a couple who have been on five Transatlantic cruises. Each time, they flew one-way on Aer Lingus and were very pleased.

They like that Aer Lingus gives you a weight allowance for baggage, regardless of number of bags. I haven't checked if they still do this.

YMMV

Thanks for the update Woody, nice to hear about Aer Lingus. I had seen sales for Sept '09 for near $400, so I am going to keep my eyes open and jump when I feel good about the price.

I have never been called POSH before and I think I like it!
Does David Beckham come as part of the deal? :rolleyes1
David Beckham!! Ah, I just got it!lol.

I was just flight shopping on Expedia. :surfweb: AA came up at $783 out of Buffalo to Birmingham (we are planning to visit friends the week before the cruise) with a stop in Chicago and Dublin. In Dublin we would switch to Aer Lingus. With in the :rolleyes1 few seconds it took me to click on the select flight to get more information the price went down to $522. Nothing like the rollercoaster of pricing. Didn't book it yet since we are in discussions about when exactly we want to fly out.

TA has us booked on this cruise last year. DH thinks it sounds fun. I have ready have used Starwood points to book hotel the Le Méridien Barcelona, but waiting for United to open up flights so we can use miles.

We are still debating about the trip. We are John (65) and Noel (58) and this would be out 5th DCL cruise.

Anybody going that is around our age?

Two more geezers checking in!

DH & I were originally booked on the 1st Baltic cruise but moved it a few weeks ago to WBTA. We are looking forward to gaining the hours back we lost on the Eastbound cruise in 2007.

We are making progress with planning, London to Barcelona flight booked and Le Meridien for the the 17th. Now waiting for the flights to open up for the trip home.

Looking forward to meeting old and new friends

Ann

:welcome: on board.

Well I have some sad news and some happy news. The sad:sad1: news is that we had to cancel our 2010 WB TA cruise........................the HAPPY:rotfl:news is that we are are booked on the Jan 2011 PC cruise AND the Sept 2011 WB TA cruise. Yes we have to wait a bit but I can handle it since we will have 2 WDW and 2 DL trips in between now and then. So, we are sorry that we will miss all of you on this cruise but I am sure that you will understand.

HI everyone....I have not been on here in a long time. My DD got married Sept 5. I was really busy with that.

I wanted to let you know that I have cancelled this cruise for next year. I was in charge of the Secret Mickey. So now I need to pass it on to someone else. Please PM me if you are interested in taking this over. It is not difficult and I already have some of the info for people that have signed up and I can email it to you.

I am sorry that you can't join us.

wow, I almost feel like I am intruding upon a family gathering or something. You all have been here a long while!

We just booked this cruise on our last (1st cruise ever) cruise just a couple weeks ago (7 day western carib).

Anyway, total newbie here to traveling overseas so my question today is this:

Is it really going to cost me 3x the amount to fly one way from the USA to Barcelona as it would a round trip ticket? I am soooo confused!

We would fly out of PHL (Philadelphia altho Baltimore is a possibility as well, heck I'd get myself to NJ or NYC for a deep enough discount).

We could fly into someplace else across the pond and take another flight too. Whatever works out to be most reasonablly priced.

Anyone have any advice at all? Is it to soon to book or should I be looking now? What price range should I be looking for?

Oiy! :confused3 Please help my Disboard friends!

:welcome: on board.

Boy, you guys have been busy while I was away. It's bedtime for me, but I hope to catch up with the rest of the thread tomorrow.

Well, I am back again. I came back from my vacation a week ago, but I have been really busy. We had a great time and I will start working on a trip report as soon as I can. I have also taken loads of photos and will add those to the trip report.

While I was on the Magic, I booked the Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise for next year. We had originally planned to do both Transatlantic cruises. This is still what I intend to do. However, DH has decided that he really does not like sea days and that he will go stir crazy if he is doing two cruises with so many sea days. He is still committed to the Westbound Transatlantic and I will do the Eastbound solo. I am little worried about doing this on my own, but I figure that I usually do my own thing during the day anyway and I will still have company at dinner. There are a number of solo cruisers on the cruise meet thread and there has been some suggestion of linking reservations so that I would even sit with other DISers.

Fortunately they lifted the overtime ban that we had for most of the year just before I went on vacation so I am doing as much overtime as I can get away with to pay for my solo cruise. The single occupancy rate is quite a bit higher than the rate for two or more people sharing.
