You know I was so terrible when i got married, we pretty much invited who we wanted and didnt worry, even after 17years I feel we done the right thing, its terrible we feel we have to do the right thing for everybody else on your wedding day.

I agree with you on this one. It's nuts inviting people to anything cause there's so much politics involved!

We unfortunately fell in that trap. My parents pretty much called the shots as to who would be invited. The result was that I had a whole bunch of people at my wedding who I have not spoken to since. Some of the same people I will see again for my sister's wedding and then after that, I doubt that I would have any reason to ever meet them again. If I had to do it again, I would have a very small wedding while on holiday (preferably on DCL).

My sister did it that way at WDW. It was just me Mum & Dad her Hubby and her (his parents couldn't attend). We then had a party when we got back but that still had people in none of us really knew lol

Sounds like the PERFECT wedding Sarah.

Any you guys ever done a back to back 3 and 4 day cruise?

Hi Everyone,

Our recommendation is the Hotel Continental on Las Ramblas. the weblink is www dot hotelcontinental dot com. choose the Hotel continental Barcelona. We loved the access to taxis, buses, the metro and those hop on hop off tour buses. Our daughter's favorite thing was the 24 hour snack bar. We found this hotel from watching Rick Steve's travel series on the PBS channel. We also purchased his Europe for the TA and Med in 2007 we took and it helped us find lunch in great local places.

Don't forget the hotels in Europe aren't controlled to only booking a year out! Some hotels book up to three years out......

I hope this helps.. I also will check with a couple other diser's who are not on this trip but stayed in BCN after the cruise. If memory services me right, the one Disney hotel in the marina was not good for the Disney price they paid.

Karen

FYI.. For those that like to for their own reasons arrange hotels thru Disney in Europe at least ( like us) Called Disney..all the pre stays are full..its a waitlist deal now..

Really? Wow I guess the pre-stays were popular.

I think we're flying in the night before so going to stay the night at the airport then get Disney transfers the next morning. This is what we ended up doing on the last TA and it worked fine. Have however found a flight at 7am from London to Barcelona on the Saturday so when the flights are released might look at times and see how this one works for us. Worried incase there's a delay or anything so maybe coming in the night before would be best.

I've read somewhere - I think on another board as can't find the post anymore - that Disney will be offering before and after Land&Sea packages for all cruises next year where you can pick your own level of accomadation. We're thinking of adding 6 nights after the cruise at POP so hope this comes out soon so I can work out the costs and book up!

This is exactly what has happened with my son's wedding this Saturday. Her father is a minister and her mother is a secretary at the church they are getting married in. Her parents said they were going to invite both their congregations and the kids said absolutely not. The invitations were sent out to those the kids wanted to invite and then the following Sunday both parents put open invitations in their respective church bulletins and now there will be about 200 people at the wedding of which the bride and groom know maybe 50. I am glad I don't have to pay for the reception. We are very excited about the wedding on Saturday and very busy with last minute items.

Have a great time.
It is such a shame that the guest list has been stolen, I think thats whyI paid my own wedding, no parents to tell us what to do.otherwise it would have been a free for all, I really truly wished I had done some things differant though, wished I had waited a few years till I grew up.

Brilliant Q Sarah.:thumbsup2:worship:

Tony has the idea of getting up to watch the Disney Magic arrive in port - so a hotel very close to the port would be ideal for us - whether this idea is feasible remains to be seen, as I have no idea what time she is likely to arrive.

Another question - is the port itself close to the city of Barcelona?

Yes, kinda, look at google maps, you can click on hotels and they pop up on the map, also barcelona has street view which is great.

I love posts like this one !!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if there are any hotels in Barcelona from where you could actually see the Disney Magic!

I thought Le Meridian was the hotel to book into. Have a look on the DCL site. There are links for Barcelona.

We so want to go to Dover next year and watch sail away. I'll be waving like a mad woman. I need to get some of those Mickey hands.

How COOL would that be?
But only cause you know you will be on it shortly!

Bit too far for us though:guilty:

We stayed at the Grand Marina for the 07 Med Cruise and we could see the Magic from there. It was exciting to get up the morning we were boarding and seeing the Magic at the port.

Not a 3/ 4 night split and not on DCL either, but we did a back to back cruise on NCL in May combining a 5 night and a 2 night. Unfortunately our cruises on DCL last year do not quite qualify as back to back as we had one night on dry land in between. We did the 5 night special cruise on the Magic, spent one night at the Radisson by the Port and then got on the Wonder for a 4 nighter the next day.

That is really horrible. At least I knew everybody who attended. With us it was more that there were a lot of people of whom I know that they couldn't care less about me and the feeling is kind of mutual. In my case, my parents paid for the reception so I had to humour them. My sister is paying for everything herself so I am not sure why she is putting up with having the guest list dictated to her.

That's a good point. We were lucky enough to stay at a hotel right by the port when we cheated on the Mouse Boats in May. Our room overlooked the berth where our ship docked. There is a certain danger with that though. ;) Neither of us slept much for most of the night. It was only once the ship at arrived and we had our first glimpse of it that we then slept like logs.
