Great pictures! It's fun to see how others decorate for the holidays!

Howdy everyone,
love the picture of the tree and the snow.'I love snow if I dont have to drive in it.
After living the last 8 years in Florida I have only seen Disneys magical snow at Christmas time.
Now it seems we are also going to get snow this weekend in Oregon.:goodvibes I love to watch it snow but we are suppose to get down in the high teens to low 20's and highs around freezing:scared: That I dont like.

I heard about the snow this weekend-- yikes!:sad2:
I moved from Florida less then 3 years ago and I too miss 'fake snow'!
Seattle tends to 'shut down' during heavy snow fall:guilty: Oh... and the hills with ice-- oh geez.. And I live on a hill! I never look forward to snow:scared1:

On a another note.. I will be sure to upload PIC's of the poodles by Sunday!

Hope everyones day is going well!:dance3: :cheer2: :santa:

We have plenty of snow. Blah, already.

Last winter killed. This one looks like it's gonna be a doozy, too.

--Merry Christmas from the Illinois/Wisconsin border. Ho Ho Ho

I am concerned about my husbands sanity during the TA's sea days when we cross the Atlantic. Can anyone offer and sug. for entertainment.. if one should grow tired of the onboard Rockin D bar and the other 'adult' options.;)

Just checing in. I hope all is well with everyone. :wave2:

I have had a very sick 3yo and and I am running the Christmas Store at my daughters school this week! I am happy to report that we have broken even on the 1st day of sales plus some. Yeah! Anything more is pure profit!!!

Brooklyn is awaiting the cast list for a play she auditioned for. It is Willy Wonka and she wants to be in it sooooo bad, even if just an Oompa Loompa! Hopefully the cast list comes out tonight!!!

Again I hope all is well and you are having a GREAT holiday season!!!

-Stephanie
Sorry that the youngest is sick. That is so hard becuase they just understand why their body is doing this! Hopefully she will get well soon and the rest of you won't catch it!:wizard: Did you hear about Willy Wonka? I think the Oompa Loompa's had a great job (and great songs too!)
...Hadley referenced our ties once before----but for those who haven't heard....a DCL tradition of mine & Jason's is Disney ties at dinner. It's ironic because neither of us dresses up at home EVER----we never wear ties here at home unless we are going to a funeral or a wedding! :lmao: However, on the cruise we dress for dinner every evening....and we wear disney ties every evening (and very, very few of them are Mickey Mouse ties....they're ties from other animated films)----and our ties NEVER repeat! :cool1: We have developed quite a collection of unique Disney ties----many of which I bought, but some of which I actually made---and I made our disney tie and cummerbund set for one of the formal nights even (i changed our picture in my siggy to show that----they're 101 dalmations)! Doing the B2B this time...we're going to need more ties than we've ever needed on a cruise so I've been on the hunt recently actually to get a few extras....and (Hadley will love this news) I have already found 3 great new ties that none of our cruise friends have even seen yet! :thumbsup2
It was always fun to see what the "new tie" was each evening.:3dglasses
Good evening everybody! I hope everybody is having a great night.

I took a picture of our Christmas tree so I thought I'd post it.

It's the Disney Tree and the tree topper is Mickey jumping out of a present. I'm sitting here looking at it and all of the wonderful memories the different ornaments hold.
Lovely tree!
Thanks!

This cruise is much easier to pack for. Not only are we taking less (no door signs, fish extender, pirate gear, or pins to trade), but we don't have to fly or deal with TSA either (we don't have to weigh the suitcases, are not limited to 3 oz. toiletries, etc.).

I'll check in when we return.

Woody
Safe travels Woody and Mrs. Woody! Our very first cruise (DCL or otherwise) was 2005 Mexican Riviera. It was wonderful to be able to drive to the port! Here's hoping we can make that a regular occurance - home base a DCL ship on the west coast after the new ships are built!
OK everyone's being far too quiet lol

Well I'm back in work! Still ill but only been sick once today from this bloody coughing! All good! Dans managed to catch it now too, though to be fair its his own fault as I did tell him he had to stay away from me. We're meant to be going out with work tomorrow for my Xmas meal so might have to give it a pass.

At least I feel a lot better. Seems the whole of the UK is slowly being taken down by this bug.

Anyway leaving work soon as want to pop to Woolworths for their closing down sale (such a sad situation when such a huge name over here is closing down! I still remember going to Woolies with my Grandad every weekend when I was young for some sweets). Hopefully can get a few bargins for Dan for Xmas, although I've promised I wont buy him any more so will have to say they are for me!
:wizard: Hope you are feeling better soon!
Hey everyone.....just wanted to share a couple pics of what I woke up to this morning. Remember that I am in South Mississippi....60 miles from the coast....so this is highly unusual for us. Although I was born in Illinois and lived there for 15 years, I still think the snow is so pretty!! These were taken at 7am soon after it started snowing and there was enough light to see. It is still coming down really heavy. They are predicting 3 - 5"....we shall see.[/IMG]
white stuff in South Mississippi ?? Wow!

Great decorations. I noticed lots of wrapped presents under the tree. It looks like SM is an organized person:worship: . I've shopped, but not wrapped yet. Every year I say I will be better. Every year I'm up wrapping late on Christmas eve! :rotfl2:

I was suppose to finish my Christmas shopping this weekend, that may not happen now.

I should get my trip report with photos posted today. When I do I will post the link in case anyone wants to read it.

Holiday traditions:
well when the kids were growing up it was baking and decorating cookies with them. They always made special cookies for mom & dad which was fun. Then on the 24th we always sat around telling stories of funny events that have happened during past Christmases, then we always watched A Christmas Carol on Christmas eve while munching on the kids cookies and hot cocoa.
Of course watching the kids decorate the tree accept for the topper which Greg always put on at the end. The kids would string popcorn and hang cookies on it.
Then getting 4 kids to sleep while Greg always had last minute assemblies to do even though he said this year I will get it done ahead of time:rolleyes1

We always loved to lay awake early waiting to hear the first kid get up and squeal when they saw santa had come and then waking up the other kids who all come running in to wake us up.

Now its just us and the 2 furry kids so things have changed a bit. We always talk of past Christmas times with the family and we always call the kids and grand kids if we cant see them to ask what they got for Christmas.

We now enjoy watching our pups open their presents Chrsitmas morning. I buy them more things than I do my DH:lmao: They are easier to buy for. Anything edible is a hit;)

Kathy
Sounds like it is a good weekend to stay in curled up by the fireplace with hot cocoa and a good book.

I love reading about everyone's holiday traditions!

Hi there! Sorry it looks to be another cold winter for you. We have had a crazy warm winter so far. It is only this week that DH suggested maybe it was time to turn on the heat. The kids are still wearing flip flops to school though!:rotfl2:

ETA: turns out there is a limit to how many images you can use in multi-post! I had to go back and take out some pictures. oops!

There is so much activity scheduled by DCL on the sea days. There will be plenty to keep him occupied. The harder part is deciding what you want to do with conflicting activities:rotfl2: . Somewhere the navigators are posted from the TA's in 2007. I don't remember where now. Try a search... That should give you some ideas. Then there was just the usual random stuff like galley tours, walks on deck 4, rainforest room, games, cove cafe, pool time, bumping into Diss'ers ...

We had fun yesterday. My kids (and me!) met Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin:banana:   She met with the kids' swim team answering questions for almost 30 minutes, passed around her medals (I held an Olympic medal!!) and then signed autographs:banana: . She was so nice and great with the kids. It was really, really cool!

Beautiful trees everyone!
We put ours up yesterday! No pictures yet.
We have to put ours "up" since our dingle berry cats like to eat the tree otherwise.

it is snowing like crazy here now. I am NOT looking forward to the ride home. Its just so long in bad weather.

OK well there is loads!

During the day you have no end of paid wine/beer/spirit tastings. You've also got free food tastings each day. You also had lectures each day on the different ports and I believe on pirates on the WB cruise. They do adult pool activities. There are some family activities going on such as pool parties. There's quizes and theirs also Pub Quest which is an ongoing adult competition thing were you have various quiz/activities throughout the cruise and collect points for your side of the boat. There were dance lessons, animation talks and various other things like art auctions and the mystery at sea to take part in.

In the evening they have various music options from Rockin' Bar D, to the Promanade Lounge duo of Chuey & Danielle to the Cadillac Lounge piano music. They also do a cigar and cognac as well during the evening. There's also things like the on deck movie or movies in the cinema. Oh and on the longer cruises they give you the chance to go into the Oceanears lab and experience some of what the kids get to do every day (such as making flubber at midnight!)

These are just the things I can remember but I'm sure there are about a thousand more!

Yes, he did....Jason won mouseketeer that night...and he was wearing one of a matching set of tinkerbell ties that I made for us for that cruise....those will probably come out one night during one of these two cruises again as they didn't go on the Double Dip with us! :thumbsup2

Also for formal night on the last TA we wore mickey mouse tuxedo vests...we still have those but now we have our dalmation tie and cummerbund and we have another mickey mouse tie and cummerbund set, too....and i'm in the process of trying to find just one more matching set of disney formalwear...although I might have to make it. Because if you're doing the B2B...how many formal and how many semiformal nights will there be??

Erik, I love your new siggie pic. You both look very handsome in your ties. It'll be fun to see your Disney ensembles every night.

We leave tomorrow on a 10-night Holland America cruise to the Mexican Riviera/Sea of Cortez. I'll check in when we return.

Woody

Have a great time!

Good evening everybody! I hope everybody is having a great night.

Everyone's trees are beautiful. DGD6 helped me decorate ours and so the results are a little "spotty" but she really enjoyed helping.

And an extra helping of pixie dust for everyone who's feeling under the weather (it always seems to happen around this time of year, at least in our family). Get better soon!

Send him to talk with my husband. Mine goes out on deck 4 and takes a long nap when he has nothing to do. :lmao: He says it refreshes him so he can be up late to enjoy all the activities.

Do ou guys like board games, they have lots of them on board.
They also have movies playing in the theater too..:thumbsup2

I don't know about on the TA crusies but on 7 day they often have a matinee in the afternoon of the evening show, if you go to that the evening is more relaxing.
All you repeat TA people, do they have any matinee performances on sea days?? Or do they change to all new shows in the evenings?

Kathy
