Hello from Honolulu. Today we drove to see the Aulani (DVC resort opening 2011). We saw the Black Pearl in the harbor nearby.

How was the Aulani? How exciting to be able to see it. DD Samantha is thinking of working in Honolulu for six months before law school. We always try to see the Arizona memorial when we are there. Our favorite place to stay is the Royal Hawaiian as it has so much history.

Noel, we got the DC25 Animal. I used it yesterday and I like it alot!! It has the ball and is very easy to navigate and it is not heavy at all. It also has great suction. The reviews I had read were all good.

I like the idea of not being heavy and good suction. Thanks for the review as I will definitely check it out.

In the run up to the Transatlantic cruise, I made friends with some people who were on the cruise and live in Dubai. I had emailed them before I went to Dubai in the hope to meet up with them. They happened to be on holiday, but emailed me on Wednesday. They raised a few issues that put me on high alert and prompted me to ask further questions. I also did some research online and I did not like what I found out through either.

This should have been a fairly straightforward transfer and I should have kept my seniority and all the length of service related benefits. By asking a few questions, I found out that they see this as a completely new employment and I would lose all the benefits that I have worked so hard for including my profit share. This was totally unacceptable to me.

I also found out that it is normal practice that you are shown your accommodation during the interview process. This did not happen. I was just given the name of the area where I would be housed. When I googled this, I found out that this is essentially an industrial estate and that most of the residential aspect of this are labour camps. They had kept rather quite about this as well.

Needless to say, I turned down their "generous" offer yesterday and I am staying put where I am. It was supposed to be permanent and I was supposed to be there by Christmas, which would have been a bit of a nightmare anyway with the cruise straight after Christmas.

To make up for this disappointment, I ordered my dress for the vow renewal today. It should hopefully be here when I come back from the Panama Canal cruise.

I am so glad for you that you have friends who were able to give you such honest and informative opinions. You would have been in for quite a shock if you had accepted this position with all the downsides.

Hello all.

I am checking in to say thanks for all of you who are still posting here. I have enjoyed the photos, videos and trip reports. I got some of my photos printed out and put a book together to share our trip with family and friends. We are still reliving the wonderful trip made special by all of the friends and acquaintances we made (DISers). There is nothing like traveling with Disney fans.

Thanksgiving was great and three of our four adult kids were able to make it. We are looking forward to Christmas with all of our kids planning to come.

We are enjoying year two in Roseburg, OR and the “Small Town America” feeling. We went to the Christmas Tree Lighting in front of the Courthouse downtown where there were Christmas carols and a Live Manger scene including a donkey and a sheep. Santa arrived on an ATV with police escort.

We have our outside Christmas lights up and the tree is being decorated as I write this. Our grandkids are putting ornaments on the tree.

I have been checking the DIS post for our next Disney Cruise, Sept 20, 2011 Vancouver to LA, post but not much is going on there. I’m sure it will get going when it gets closer (10 months away).

I still haven’t downloaded all of our Barcelona Videos, but will get it done soon.

Sounds like you had a great family Thanksgiving. My GK's had lots of fun with us as well during the holiday weekend.

We had debated whether or not not take the Vancouver to LA trip and had booked it aboard but the WBTA 2011 won out. I did check out the thread and it seemed fairly slow as you mentioned. John and I decided to transfer our deposit from that cruise to the 2012 Fantasy Inaugural.

As they say in Hawaii, Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou.

Dave and I went to see Tangled on Sunday and I LOVED IT! I think it is the best Disney movie in years - the best princess movie for sure. The music, the animation and the talent were all just wonderful! If you have a chance, go see it!

I can't wait to see Tangled .... don't know when it is due out here though. As soon as it is I will be there. Also looking forward to seeing the Pirates 4 trailer which comes out mid December I think.

How great you have been to see both the Aulani and the U.S.S. Arizona. People really were very respectful and silent when they visited the memorial which made it very memorable for me as well.

Well I am really pleased to be able to tell you that Taryn my DD is now officially a WDW Disney Cast Member for next summer .... she has been accepted on the ICP and has a post in merchandising. She is thrilled and very excited ( I am very nervous .. the though of her travelling across the globe single handed is quite a scary one given her organisational skills deficit! )

On the downside .... this means no WBTA cruise for us in September as we will be going to Orlando to visit Taryn and bring her back home. The dates are not the best as we were hoping to squeeze in a Dream cruise but because she doesn't finish the program until 2nd September, and DS will need to be back for college the first week in September.

I am thinking of doing a Med cruise in October as it is Tony's 50th birthday, but unfortunately it won't be with DCL
