Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

Your plans sound amazing and what a way to celebrate turning 40 ( although you know way look anywhere near that age ) . We hope to take time off to travel in the USA once the kids are self sufficient ( if that ever becomes a reality remains to be seen !! ). I had better start saving now !!

Sarah, you know you have a place to stay in Orlando!

Paula - I will be in Kidani on Saturday night till Sunday!! At the pool on Sunday. Hope to see you!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Only just caught up with the board now so really sorry we missed you - we could have had lunch ... at separate tables obviously! :rotfl2:

SF Bay Area met, count me in!!!

I booked my flight to the US last night for next year - I've been home two days so needed to get things moving for my next trip. ;)

Mum and I will be in SF towards the end of July - dates to be confirmed but probably 20th-28th (ish).

Most likely at DL for the days immediately before and after this too.

Greetings from Lake Titicaca, Puno, Peru, where we are continuing our adventures.

Isn't Peru fabulous? We just loved it when we went a few years ago and highly recommend it as a travel destination.

For those who rebooked something onboard and had it transferred straight away to Dreams, have you heard anything from them yet? I am sure we have normally heard before now.

We thought we had booked a dummy date while onboard as I confirmed with Leslie that we wish to go ahead with the quote - she never indicated we needed to do anything more. Once we got to Florida, after a week and still no deposit hitting my card I contacted DCL and they said that because we hadn't made the deposit onboard that it had been canceled - sent them a snotty email saying that it was due to their clerical issue or lack of communication and they reinstated it. I contacted Dreams last night and Tammy contacted me today with a form to arrange for it to be transferred and confirmed almost immediately that she was faxing DCL with the confirmation to transfer.

So we have a date booked for Dec 2011 on the Wonder but will probably push this back into 2012 or even further - hoping for Hawaii... else we might go on the Fantasy and go to WDW.

Hi
Can I just ask if everyone who recieved that Med / Baltic OBC letter, the one about $100 per person for booking one of these cruises, actually was given the OBC on the ship.

Yes we got it along with a mystery other OBC for $25 ...

In terms of other stuff that happened... Mum's case was badly damaged when we collected it at the cruise terminal - she was given the run around a bit on the phone regarding getting it replaced as there was no way it was going to make it back to NZ - they finally got her to take it to bell services at Kidani where they called a while later saying it couldn't be repaired and they gave her a nice new Disney suitcase.

Kidani was an amazing resort but they have to be quite possibly the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on!

The rental car we picked up at MCO was disgustingly dirty and since we got home, they have now billed us for the cleaning of it - we should have complained at the time we collected it, but they were having IT issues and the line waiting to get cars was huge, we decided not to worry about it and completely forgot to mention it when returning the car - I'm disputing this with them at the moment.

Mum is stuck in LA still, she was traveling standby back to NZ and the flights are overbooked along with Qantas having issues with their aircraft so passengers are moving over to ANZ - she's hoping to get home in a few days - yikes!

The earthquake tally is up to 2046 since the "big one" - we had a 5 today and I was out in my car at the time so didn't feel it - however it did quite a bit of damage around the city again. Six weeks its been going now. A water main near work burst yesterday when we had a 4.4 and we were without water at work for a few hours. At least they are no where near as frequent, I've only actually felt 1 since we got home - thats just good luck more than anything I think :)

Paula,,,,hope your Mum makes it home safe and sound.

I can't even begin to imagine living through the earthquakes. One is bad enough but the number that you have lived through is just unbelievable!!!!!

It is. We are great tour guides of the West if you ever get the opportunity.

Thank you ... hopefully one day we can take you up on that kind offer !!

Sarah, you know you have a place to stay in Orlando!

Thank you Michael :hug::hug::hug:

Great news on booking flights already! Not great news on the continuing earthquakes :scared1: your Mum's baggage and her being stranded in LA. Hope she makes it home safely soon.

Paula, you seem to have had quite a few mishaps. Such a shame after the great cruise. I can't believe your mum is still in the US. Is she coping OK?

Hope the earthquakes settle soon. What was it like before all this happened? Did you always get 'small' ones?

Hope your mum is home soon, and that the car issue is sorted.

Someone else bought a case on the ship and it was cracked after first use. :confused3
While we have never had issues with rental car companies charging us, we always take photos of anything that is amiss. For instance, we picked up one and the gas was only half full. I photograghed the gauge with the mileage showing, told them when we returned it half full and there was no charge. We also photograph any dings, dents and damage.

Hope you mum gets home soon and that the earth stops shaking under you feet. That should only happen when you fall in love. :)

We have been home a week now and still trying to get sorted out. Saw a few friendly faces around WDW during the week there. We spent sometime with Jason at AK and MK. But, it had to come to an end, got home at 10:45pm on Sunday and was back to work at 7:00am Monday.

Now Candida's work is just beginning, between the two of us over the 5 weeks we have 9997 pics of our own, 8 DVD of cruise pics, and a couple hundred Photopass pics.

In regards to the onboard bookings. We never received a confirmation number or any paperwork onboard that we booked. So, after reading the problems people have been having I called Disney. The good news is that they had it, and no issues.

Thank you to everyone for making this trip a pleasant and very special time.

Jon

I am so sorry that I did not manage to meet up with you at the Magic Kingdom on the Saturday. We had a nightmare with the DCL transport this time round. I kept my eyes open for the two of you, but unfortunately never bumped into you.

What cruise did you end up booking?

Hi everyone, we are finally home.
Haven't had a chance to read back at what's been happening, I will catch up over the next few days, Hope everyone is happy and healthy.

We have re-booked the Mexican riviera next September but are unsure whether we will do it or the WBTA again, We had such fun!

OK, need to go and unpack 8 suitcases and 4 cabin bags, and get the kids organised for school tomorrow, Arghhh, back to reality.......

I have to confess I am still not entirely done with unpacking. The clothes have been unpacked, but there are still various souvenirs and the Fish Extender gifts that need unpacking.

It's a shame that you are not booked on the October 2nd Mexican Riviera Cruise. I could do with a couple of flower girls for my vow renewal.

Only just caught up with the board now so really sorry we missed you - we could have had lunch ... at separate tables obviously! :rotfl2:

We also got the $25 onboard credit. It was for booking online.

I am sorry that your mum has so much trouble getting home. This makes me all the more grateful that we managed to get on our chosen flight. This was the first time that I flew standby on another carrier.

We booked our air fare for the Panama Canal Cruise last week. With our schedule being so tight, we are not risking flying standby this time round. We are on a direct flight from Manchester to Orlando on January 5th and then on a flight from Los Angeles to London Heathrow with a connecting flight to Manchester on January 21st. So all I have to sort out now is Magical Express from Orlando International to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

By the way, to all you Dooney and Bourke fans, are you aware that the DCL bags are available in different colours. I did a search for Disney Dooney and Bourke on Ebay as I really want to get another Disneyland/ Disney World wristlet for a present and the DCL wristlets came up in navy blue, red and yellow. I only ever have seen them in white. If they now come in different colours, this is going to make the choice for a purse so much more difficult and I might also be forced to get another wristlet.

I love my wristlet and I got so much use out of it in the parks. Everything I needed (camera, sunscreen, ticket, Key To The World Card and credit card) fit in there and it was just happily sitting on my wrist even on some of the more thrilling rides.

I ended up getting another wristlet at WDW. I wanted to get one as a present for somebody, but did not like any that I saw at Magic Kingdom, Epcot and at a couple of the resorts. Ultimately I found one that I loved at the Grand Floridian. They also had a purple one there that I just had to get for myself. The one I gave away as a present was a huge success and now another friend of mine wants one as well.

Just got our WBTA deposit paid for next year after finding out it didn't get taken on board when we thought it had :)

Francescas excuse to me was they kept loosing their satelite signal and didn't manage to charge the card while were still on board :confused3

At least we are sorted now. It was great meeting everyone and thanks to all for the wonderful fish extender gifts :thumbsup2

Dawn

Seemed like there were many mistakes with bookings one way or anothernDawn. Glad you got it sorted, and even more glad you will be onboard!!!:thumbsup2

I'm happy to report that my sister is now home from the hospital. She came home on Friday and actually went back to work today. She's being very careful with her diet and so far so good. She just got home from school and her students made her get well cards!

Dave and I also celebrated out first anniversary on Sunday, the 17th. We had a very relaxing day and went to PF Chang's for dinner. We defrosted our wedding cake and the cake itself was so moist, it tasted like it had been baked the day before! The icing didn't fair as well though, but the cake was great!

Congratulations to you and Dave.

It is. We are great tour guides of the West if you ever get the opportunity.

Ooooo, tempting.

BTW, Angie, tell Dennis "thank you" from us; Wayne finally got his posterior down to the DAV and filed his papers. I know Dennis was the big factor in getting him to do that. :flower3:

Hi there fellow WBTA'rs. Just checking to see if anyone booked the Fantasy today for 2012? We moved 3 of our dummy bookings to 3 different Fantasy cruises today (6/23 Western, 8/18 Western and 8/25 Eastern), and the Oceanview price for each, after the rebooking discount, was about what we'd originally booked the WBTA for (before switching to the military rates.)

I was especially excited because I made two onboard bookings while on the WBTA, and had assigned them to a different agency (but with an agent that many of us used for this cruise) and ended up get significantly more OBC as a result. (Plus I love the personalized service!)

I am especially happy about the change in the deposit policy. So far, each of the cruises booked has required a lower deposit that what we would have paid under the old system, even for rebooked reservations. And after originally paying some of the super expensive $600/pp deposits last year (paying >50% of the 10nt MR cruise we'd booked), it was quite a nice change to be talking about deposits payments of $300 some dollars today, rather than deposits of $2400 that we paid last year

This was for booking online I believe

Aha that is our mystery solved!

Mum arrived home today - 3 days late but could have been worse.

We live on a fault line - like california - and I've probably felt maybe a dozen or so in my lifetime but nothing major - just more of a "ooo earthquake"... probably only about a 3-4 on the scale - certainly nothing like a 7.1 and the shear quantity of aftershocks is certainly new to us. We have had 8 quakes in the last 24 hours including a 4.5 this morning.

While we have never had issues with rental car companies charging us, we always take photos of anything that is amiss. For instance, we picked up one and the gas was only half full. I photograghed the gauge with the mileage showing, told them when we returned it half full and there was no charge. We also photograph any dings, dents and damage.

We don't worry about dings etc as we take the full insurance as our travel insurance doesn't cover it. We can virtually return the steering wheel and we are covered.

With the car, it was just dirty outside and windows in and out were dirty - outside with dead love bugs and in the inside looked like grubby children's finger prints. We didn't notice the stains on the seats initially and only found the food left overs quite some time after hiring it. I'm hoping they will believe it wasn't us but if not, I'll be sure to put a really snotty review onto the net somewhere - it'll make me feel better :lmao:
