Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Hello everyone, I with the thought of all you guys :grouphug: (who are sailing Sept. 17, 2005) on my mind thought about sending a letter to President Bush to see if he could talk to the senate and all those other high class people and proclaim a leap-week :bounce: for us, that would help to speed up our cruise date. I mean they have a leap year :Pinkbounc and we're only asking for a week, but then I realized that would mean some people would lose their cruise week and others may have to return home early. So to not be selfish I decided not to do it (this time) but when my cruise date arrives next year (Carnival Destiny 9/17/06) I may have to get that leap week. So to all my Disney cruise pals try not to book next years cruise a week or two before mine because you may lose that week. Looking forward to seeing you all aboard the Magic,,, and like Magic I will disappear for now only to return with some more silly-ness at another time. Oh but most of all thanks for all the welcome's to the board and aboard the Magic. Thanks all!!

Constanz  You know I am glad to have my fellow Denver(ite?) back. Sorry you have been having some trouble. I hope everything is on the right path now. When are you flying in/flying out of Denver? It was Friday night if I remember correctly.
Deege, Leap week sounds good if only to avoid all those scary waves off the coast of Africa. I serioulsy hope that we don't have to deal with any h******!
Now the good news....I spoke with Gina. Thank goodness she and her family are alright! Even their houses are alright. She said it is pretty bad there and scary to go out and try to get gas or anything but atleast they are alive. Thanks to all my friends that have had to listen to me whine for the past 5 days. Boy what a relief, now I am ready to

I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year.
All of the faces and all of the places,
wonderin' where they all disappeared.
I didn't ponder the question too long;
I was hungrey and went out for a bite.
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum,
and we wound up drinkin' all night
:dancer: :dancer:

Good morning!!!!!!

At just about this time 14 days from now I will be packing the car to drive to Port Canaveral! :Pinkbounc  :bounce:

Gas situation here seems to have stabilized, so I hope it's the same as the port. All of the stations that were "out of gas" two days ago have plenty. There aren't even lines anymore.

I'm with you Jen, watching the same shots over and over again of New Orleands is just too depressing. I gave a long diatribe to DNana last night about how the press is making the entire situation worse. Instead of focusing on the aid that DOES get in, they show you what doesn't. Instead of showing the families that ARE working together, they show those few wackos. Instead of uplifting this country into overwhelming support of those needy people, they focus on stories where aid is refused (making some people not give at all!). TURN IT AROUND MEDIA FOLKS! Okay, soapbox off..

Sooooo - I hereby declare September 17 - September 24th an official FFC holiday week - no worries allowed! :cheer2:

That's all for now, DNana is visiting and she just found me in the computer room. Gotta go....

Sweet Sue

I cannot believe it is 14 days away! I've just finished working 3 weeks in a row/12+ hours a day, so I'm looking forward to a little R&R. My DB (chickenlittle) has booked us on some fun excursions! I know it will be a blast. I rec'd our cruise packet last week and read it from cover to cover. It really is here. Someone pinch me!! I joked the other day....wow...I could have had a baby since we booked this trip!! LOL.
Lot of activity going on before the trip. DM will be moving in next week, so there's that to preoccupy the mind besides all the happenings with the gulf coast
Will be busy picking up last minute items for the trip. Looking forward to meeting all of ya!! Wooooooohoooooooo! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :earsgirl:

Good morning to everyone!! Haven't posted in a couple of days. Thought I'd take a break from cleaning the house to say hi!

Sue - DH tried on the pirate costume this morning and said "I don't think so."
Now he's not even sure about the eye patch and earring. Oh well, I'm keeping them anyway! I'll just take back the costume. (Actually, to tell the truth, he kind of looked like one of the "lost boys from Neverland"!)

I heard on the news this morning that probably by this time next week that gas prices may even go down as fast as they went up. :cool1: :cool1: ---
But do we actually believe that?? :confused3 :confused3

Anyway, I told DH that just as long as there is gas - I don't care about the price - got to get to the terminal!!! No matter how! :moped: I NEED THIS CRUISE!!! :earseek: :earseek:

Just think, in 2 weeks we'll be starting to line up!!!

TTFN!!

I can't type much (off to a wedding), but wanted to ask Deege and Constanze to confirm for me how many cabins they have - I'm making reminders for the DIS meets, one per stateroom.

I'll type more tonight. Thanks! Deege, your posts are comical - glad to have you back with your silliness.

Happy Labor Day weekend, all. Nice to see you are lurking Frank and chiming in with words to another Buffett classic. And Jen, I'm definitely needing changes in latitude and more importantly, attitude!

Nice to say hi again, snowwhite.

Our cruise :flower1: sure is coming up fast! One of our bedrooms has now been designated the "cruise bedroom". It has a king size bed that will be filled with piles by the weekend's end, with any luck.

SweetSue, I agree abt the media. One of our best friends is a special forces guy, was a Green Beret when he was young and re-enlisted after September 11. The past few years he has been working private security in Iraq, off and on. Anyway, besides being a total stud, he is a very interesting person. I talked to him yesterday and he was ranting abt how the media is portraying the fed's and the military's efforts and he explained in detail all that our selfless and brave men and women in the military are doing for the relief efforts. It is amazing the stuff we never learn, see, etc. because of the media's picking and choosing. Now, that being said, the images are horrible and just too depressing to watch over and over again. Query what Rudy Giuliani might have done if he was mayor of N.O.? ('course I'm a big Rudy fan...)

Wecome (back) Snowwhite....It is fun to have all of you all posting again. It is getting close!
Same old stuff but if you want to be included in the final distribution of the list (with pics) of everyone, send me your e-mail address. If you want to give some of your infor to me for it, send it on. I will probably send out a final list next weekend. If anyone needs it earlier holler. If anyone needs a hard copy mailed (ragdoll, lorra?, I mailed yours, nursegardner) let me know.

Hope everyone has a great day. My kids tracked off yesterday for three weeks :cool1: No more "projects" although they were send home with some which BITES because it is technically their summer break. Nat's is flat stanley and you are supposed to mail it to someone out of state and they take it around and write about their lives. Yuck. We are just stowing him away on the cruise with us. We'll take a couple pics and call it done.

 Getting close. :hourglass ...close enough to start logging on to the Natl hurricane web site and praying :worship: for sun. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
If we see that the unthinkable may happen, we might want to check out stuff to do at other ports so we have an idea....ie Costa Maya where you definately need a plan......But it is to early for that talk....we are going to have :sunny: :sunny: skies, :earboy2: faces, listen to :rockband: drinking a nice cold :drinking1
:wizard:

Sweetsue,

I totally agree with you and the media coverage!!!!

Jennat,

All 10 of us will be flying Frontier on the 10:40is am flight on Friday the 16th. When we get to Florida we're then having a shuttle take us over to the Radisson at the Port. You're staying at Disneyworld if I remember correctly?

Anyway, I feel like there's so much to do...I can't belive we leave in less than two weeks. My kids are sooooo excited about their kids clubs. :Pinkbounc I can't wait to see their faces when they first see how big the ship really is for the first time. This will be my kids first cruise...so they have no idea how much fun their going to have.

Lisa.

Got a few odds and ends done this a.m. I think we are all ready, except a few things getting altered.

Just needs compiled next weekend.......so much to do between now and then! OMGoodness, 3 papers to write. Might not seem like a big deal to some, but those of us who have been out of the "student" role for while might get a little nervous. :bitelip:

this too shall pass, this too shall pass, this too shall pass

All better now. Have a great weekend everyone.

Missy

Missy, You are right....No matter how stressful or awful what you have to do it.....time goes on and it will be over soon and then :cool1:

Does anyone know how long it takes something big and windy to come from Cape Horn in Africa and get to the USA? Something could be coming. :earseek:
Lisa, Yep, we are staying at Pop before the cruise. Are you just going with friends from Denver or family or ????

Where is everyone today?

Missy, I would hate to think I had to go back to studying, my brain is probably mush it has been so long. Especially anything math related. I know you will be glad to get those papers done and finally be able to relax. Jen, I hope whatever starts in Cape Horn...stays in Cape Horn. Unlikely I know but we can always hope. -Donna

Good Afternoon everyone... :sunny: .gosh are we all getting excited or what?!?!?!  I know this house hold is.....

DD had her yard sale today, actually someone told her she'd do better to set up at the local flea market....well that wasn't too true. But she didn't do so bad, like I told her it's more than you had before you went there. She wants to have a regular yard sale prior to the cruise and the remaining she's donating to the Hurricane relief for the New Orleans area. Trust me she has that much stuff!!!! :rotfl2: Anywho...just got everything put back up and now relaxing. DH said since I don't have to work on Monday why don't we start packing????? :Pinkbounc :cheer2: I of 'course agreed :rotfl2:

Take care all :wizard:

Jennat -- We're going with two other families from here in Colorado. Good friends of ours, not family.

I should make a list of what needs to be done before the trip... I just ordered baskets from the Perfect Gift, that has sand toy stuff for the kids, that should be waiting for us when we check in to our cabin.

I still have to get a swim suit cover-up type thing...otherwise I'll be walking around the ship half naked most of the time and frightening eveyone :teeth:

Lisa.

Wow! It is really quite today. Hope you all are having fun.
I am packing the kids. I am using those 2.5 gallon zip lock bags. Boy they really do save room when you roll the air out of them. I am a little concerned over wrinkles. I hear they don't wrinkle but it is hard to believe. Anyone have first hand experience with it?

jennat-

Where did you find the 2.5 gal zip locks? I have been looking for them and can't find them!

I have never packed in them before, but we have used space saver bags and they do wrinkle your clothes. We usually use them for underwear, etc.

Ummm, I'm not sure but if you roll out all of the air, how are the kids going to breathe? :rotfl2: And are you sure 2.5 gallon bags are big enough? I think Christina might need one of those 4 gallon bags. :rotfl2: :rotfl: I don't know why, but it just struck my funny bone about "packing the kids".

DNana and I had a successful shopping trip today! Between Dillard's and Macy's we are set for formal night. DNana found a glittery silver pantsuit for a great price. DD now has a cute little black dress with bright pink, red and white polka dots - it looks similar to Minnie's dress. And I have a LONG DRESS!!! Black with an overjacket that's aqua or tealish on black. And I found the perfect strappy black heels. A GREAT trip! So.... now I have a dress for formal night, and my off-white cocktail dress for semi-formal night and my navy cocktail dress for Palo's! :cheer2:

Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday weekend!

Sweet Sue

(ok, now for the bad news Jen - those pesky little storms are really unpredictable. Katrina was first tracked as a tropical depression on Tuesday. She hit Florida on Thursday. Yes, only 48 hours later. So - work hard on that praying!)

Hey Beth  Boy people are coming out of the woodwork and we LOVE it! Welcome back!! I got the bags at Target and Safeway has them also but for more $$$$$. I don't want them to wrinkle (do you think that will make a difference) Lord and master and all that.... :wizard: "Clothes....don't wrinkle! :wizard: " It shall be done. Blasted, I don't think that will work.
Sue :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Never thought of them needing air. Natalie has so much hot air coming out she should be fine but I may need to pack some for Trenton :rotfl2: Great job on the shopping :cool1:

Just confirmed our day sail in St Thomas. It is just Steve Trisha, Mike and I so there is room for two more fun people on board. A day of relaxing, eating, drinking, snorkling and doing whatever we want. :Pinkbounc Oh yeah!

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Hienz 57 and french fried potatoes
A big juicy pickle......

Jen...what are you doing with your kids that day...St Thomas? I think that is the day we are going Snuba diving...or DH and I would have love to join you guys.

Man we had a busy day! DS(15) had a double header baseball game starting at 9am this morning. We got home around 2ish...put the little guys down for a nap. Then we had to leave at 5 to go to DH's company outing at the Columbus Clippers! We definately had our fill of baseball today! DM-in-law is coming down from Cleveland tomorrow to spend the day with us, DS(15) has to caddy at 7am tomorrow morning and we are having people over for a cook-out tomorrow night. I am looking forward to the cook-out...it should be cool enough to light the fire pit and make smores :jumping1: Although since I am dieting...I can only have one :earseek: I am off to be lazy and watch TV on the couch until I fall asleep...that means I will watch about 10 minutes of TV :rotfl:
