Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

a mistake -- I just inserted myself into a thread that's getting a bit nasty abt whether or not you pay for a child you invite (like a kids' friend). Whoops. I'm an only child and I have an only child so I wanted to share my experience. And my DH is the youngest of 5! Big Catholic family. Shhh...I sometimes hide in the bathrrom with a book when they visit or we go there. :earboy2:

I think it might actually work for his family to join us on DCL sometime (provided they come thru with early dining for me this trip. :rotfl2: ) b/c the counsins are of varying ages and they could all have their own group on the ship and each family would have their own room. Different categories perhaps?! Geeze. I'm cracking myself up tonight. Must be bedtime. DH laid over in KC tonight so I've lots of time for the boards. Yipee!

Wendy, It is good to know I'm not the only one that escapes to the bathroom! There is such a thing of "too much togetherness!" Just kidding. I'm sure it could work especially on different decks. I have cruised with my sister and her family but never more than 2 families. I am up late tonite waiting for my dh to call me back. -Donna

Well, just got back from DCL site. Still on second seating here too. So, Wendy I guess you & I are in the same :boat: . :jester:. Off to send an e-mail to T/A & Disney.

... I kept DD up a bit too late tonight and she turns into whining demanding child from some bad place when she's sleepy but refuses to admit it and I really don't want to deal with that on the cruise. Who would have guessed 4 would be this hard?

Wendy, I don't think it's confined to a 4 year old thing ... mine just turned 9 a few weeks ago and she has the same "disease", "It's late, I'm tired, and cranky, but I won't admit it" disease. Maybe it's a girl thing? :rotfl: just kidding. Anyway, I hope you get your early seating!! I'm guessing that this cruising should have a few less family's with school age kids since most schools are back in session when we cruise ... at least compared to peak season. Ours just happens to be on their first week long break of the year ... been back to school since August 1st.

Must be a girl thing! :teeth: My DS (5) goes to bed no problem. DD (8 almost 9) is a yenta. Doesn't want to miss a thing. :rotfl:

I've never cruised during peak season but there were plenty of school age kids on the cruise last Sept. We still take our kids out of school to go on vacation. We figure kindergarten and 3rd grade they're not missing much the first couple of weeks of school. Ok, not that any of you would, but putting on flame proof suit. :scared1:

Btw, I remember reading about someone buying pirate stuff from oriental trading. I've decided not to do the tropical thing but to go for it and dress up piratey. Didn't want to order the same stuff if you had extra and we could split the cost. :cool1:

Counting down 'til school starts and then the Magical Vacation begins!!!!!

For those of you who have your docs... How are they getting to you? Through TA or from Disney direct? Regular, certified or UPS mail. Just wondering. Maybe when I get those I will be more excited. Right now I am just trying to get to that week so I can say.. "okay now I gotta bust it and get ready for Saturday". I work best under pressure. Actually I think I have to have it all packed by Thurs since Tracy is coming in Thurs night. Don't want to be packing when she is here. We need to be doing last minute shopping. HEE-HEE.

I think this year I am going to pack very light. I think maybe a few pairs of shorts, a few tops for the days and two pairs of capris. I can then interchange them w/ tops for dinner. Maybe a sundress or two. Pretty much wear bathing suit all day so that gives me an excuse to buy another one. See my packing list is complete except for throwing in the bathroom vanity and closet the week of. DH is on his own. He won't wear what I tell him anyway.

Well going to surf the boards. Be back soon.

Hello. A little about our family. Me-33, other half -30(Bobby) and our two sons, ages 11 and 2. We will be cruising with Bobby's sister and brother-in-law, ages 35 and 33 and their son age 7. Bobby's mother and my mom. We have been on the western cruise with my son (11), but this will be the first cruise for the rest. We are in cabins 6072,6074 and his sister and family in 6071. He is sharing a cabin with his mother and me with mine. Thank god, because yes I need an escape. We are all getting very excited. I am the travel planner of the group and it has been interesting trying to make everyone happy! We are touring with Joyce Prince in St. Martin and doing the rhino ride excursion. St. Thomas we are going to Sapphire Beach in the a.m. (Brother in law wants to scuba dive) and the rest of us with just hang out on the beach and then us girls are going shopping in the afternoon. The guys are going to give us a break and take the kids. We are flying in the night before and staying at the Cocoa Beach resort and some are going to Kennedy space center, while some are just relaxing at the hotel. Sorry it took so long to post on this thread, we had originally booked the 4 day and then changed to the 7 day in may when another family was unable to go with us.

I see some storms developing in the caribbean, hopefully we will have a hurricane free cruise.

Look forward to getting to know everyone a little more before we cruise. I see some have gotten their travel documents, I hope everyday when I check the mail, but still nothing.

Oh, and by the way we have second seating for dinner. I have scheduled flounder's nursery for 3 nights during dinner. My 2 year old is very active and sitting through dinner is going to be interesting to say the least. I guess he may surprise me, but just in case I thought I would make us both happy a few nights.

Hi! It was a busy night last night. I was up until 2:30 A.M. cleaning and getting ready for my exchange student. Then this morning I get a phone call, due to a screwed up flight he will not get here until Friday afternoon. No sleep for nothing! He is now at a motel in Ecuador for two days. I will have him for three weeks and then another host family will have him for ten days and then I get him back until June 9. I don't know what I was thinking but pray for me that this is a good thing to do and that I'm making a good decision for my family. I'm now living on a little sleep so now I'm going to try to nap for about an hour.

I hadn't thought of that. No flames here ... I wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing!

:wave2: Everyone,

Your plans are going well, and that is G-R-E-A-T!! :cheer2:

I am going to jump in here with my big mouth, for anyone who is waitlisted and not received Early Dining, have you tried to link your ressies together with someone on early????? THis does not ALWAYS work, but more often than not it does..

Last year we were 4 families, and we were the only ones with early, and the 3 others just linked, and joined us.... Please don't shoot the messenger, if it does not work, just a kind suggestion that may....You can call DCL yourself with this to link them together, and they "should" be able to do this and tell you right away!!

I really hope this works for Wendy and Brad, and anyone else needing it...THose are the two I can remember...

Have a good time guys, and REMEMBER, I will be waiting for a LIVE Thread on Sept 17th or soon thereafter..

:grouphug: Sherrie

Morning everyone!!!

Jenny this is for you: 24 MORE DAYS TILL WE CRUISE ON THE MAGIC!!!! :rotfl2:

Hey everyone, just so you know, I asked Jen to take our room number off the next list she sends out. I didn't realize that my parents didn't want me giving out the number. Oops.

Later everyone,
Emily

Hey Sherrie! Thanks for the tip. We'll see if that works. How's the star QB?

Amey, welcome again and thanks for filling us in on your group.

I would also take my child out for a vacation. Duh. :flower1:

We'll see what the day brings regarding seatings... :rotfl2:

After all my dramatic foot stamping yesterday, my TA called this morning and the supervisor she spoke with yesterday e-mailed (and faxed confirmation) that I was moved to early. Hooray! All those   's for nothing!

Yay! :cheer2: :flower1: :flower1:

Now, Brad, we gotta get your family early. Sweet Sue said it right. Persistence. I think 5 or 6 calls were made yesterday. :flower1:

Now I'm feeling a bit guilty...

Great news Wendy...

Hope it works out for Brad also...

My son is doing well, as his team is.. :cheer2: HIs team played their first NIGHT game last night and won 38-7...They are now 3-0, and very excited for their Home opener Saturday morning.. So am I, we have an Adults only dance after, and the kiddos are sleeping at my Mom's, always nice!!! Thanks for asking......

:grouphug: Sherrie

Way to go Wendy!! See, those toddlers know how to work it, why do we forget as adults?? Throw a tantrum!! Don't feel guilty, it's better to get it how you want it and be happy than take what you can get and have a cranky child to deal with at dinner! Also thanks from all us late diners!! Although my sis may have something to say about that, her kids might be cranky! I'm hoping my little night owls will be just fine for late dinner, which isn't too late for us being central time.

Congrats to those who are getting their docs!!! I can't wait!!

Hi Sherrie!!!

Way to go Wendy!!!! Way to keep pushing their buttons. See eventually if you call them enough, they'll give you what you want just to get you to leave them alone.

Wendy, thats a good deal. What # did you call? I received the form e-mail back today from DCL. No call yet. Going to call the T/A.

BRAD :teeth:
