Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Tammy, do call Dreams Unltd and get their price. Do not wait for the sluggo to return. Talk to his owner wife and FOLLOW UP IN WRITING. Fax notes of your conversation with her, even if it's "You told me I needed to wait until Mr. so&so who booked me returns." and then go on with "I"m sure you will appreciate my frustration and disappointment in finding that I have been overcharged by $_____ for this cruise etc etc and further disappointed by having to wait even longer. I do not understand why as the owner and operator of this agency you don't have access to all of the agencies' records and cannot yourself rectify this situation..." You get my drift?

It will scare her and she'll make it right. OK? If you want further advice, e-mail me. I'm swamped today but would have some time manana.

Hello all......
I haven't been here in a while and have alot to catch up on. First of all, the two things I couldn't do with out on a cruise are chapstick and a digital clock. I am addicted to chapstick and have to have it at all times and I can't stand waking up at night and not knowing what time it is.

Our trip to Holiday World was nice, albeit hot and humid. Thus, we spent the majority of the day in the water park. I don't think we will tent camp again though because it was way too humid for my comfort zone.
And speaking of a heat wave, I think the whole country is in on it. It is suppose to get to 95 here today with a heat index of 105-110. Smokin'! It is almost to hot to be out in the pool.

We have a some what old Olympus digital camera. It works great and I love it but beyond that I could not tell you anymore about it. You would have to ask Steve. I am not very knowledgeable about electronics and such. Steve usually takes a laptop and downloads the pictures each day so we can take high quality pics and not have to worry about running out of memory.

Emily- I know what you mean about spending time at the bowling alley, or the BA as I affectionatly call it. Steve and I bowled alot when we were dating. He got burned out on it and doesn't bowl anymore but I still bowl on women's night. I take the summer off though.
Jen- Maybe I should come visit you again. Our dark powers combined can bring the country out of this heat wave and a drought at the same time! ;)

As far as the formal wear, I haven't decided how formal I am going to get. Sometimes I don't feel like getting all dolled up on vacation. I thought we could wear tiki Mickey stuff on the night we eat at Parrot Cay. Just my thoughts.
Well, I'm sure I forgot to include something but that's about it for now.

I forgot to mention our Pastor is very critically ill and can use your prayers please. The doctors think he has some type of virus like West Nile or something like that. He was airvac'd out to St. Louis this morning and I have not heard yet how things have gone since he got there. Please remember him in our prayers. Thanks.

Tammy, that is aweful. Maybe you could just call DCL and get them to cancel that ressie and then have them rebook it at their price. I don't know if our TA charges any extra, but I know the cruise is the same price as what DCL says it is.

I asked DCL to do that very thing and they told me I would have to go through the TA??? Which I found strange. :confused3 I also sent him an e-mail, just in case he checks that while he's cruising...you never know. Of 'course the T Agency told me I would have to talk with him about changes, he is the owners husband. I'll keep you updated....Thanks

Here are the Florida resident rates from AllSea..........I am assuming you are Florida resident correct? Thought it might be nice for you to see all of them in one place.

Trisha, what is your pastor's name? Being out of St. Louis, I'm just curious, is he by any chance a Lutheran pastor, more specifically, a Missouri Synod pastor. Either way let me know as we will pray for him, but if he is LCMS, we'd really like to know.

Emily- His name is Brad Harlow and he is Baptist. We are not in St. Louis, actually 2 hours south in S. Illinois, but because he was so critical they flew him to St. Louis. It is the closest hospital that has an infectious disease unit which is what they think is causing him to be so ill. Thanks for your prayers.

Tammy1: Sorry to hear that you're getting those issues with your TA. I just don't care for it when organizations play this game where only Person A can help you. That's just not right. If that's the case, then person A best arrange their schedule around their clients needs.

The FL resident rates and Active Military rates look identical this time. If you are an FL resident, then just book that instead.

Funny part about the active military dicounts is that whenever we used them they've never asked for our ID's .... even forgot to show them one time and they didn't ask. So much for the check-in folks to do they can miss those little things I imagine.

We changed our reservation to a military discounted one last week.

OK...I started this post at around 1:15 this afternoon, and it's been sitting on my desktop here ever since...(and now it's past 5...that's how busy work's been!) OK, so here it is:

Hey everyone!
How's everyone on this scorching Thursday??? :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Good here except the unrelenting heat!! :faint:
I have now officially lost almost 11 pounds according to my weigh-in this morning!! :cheer2:

Tammy, I can't believe your TA! Hopefully it was just a mistake and not something he just did intentionally to make a little "extra money"!!
Let us know what happens.

Sherrie...Good to see you! Sounds like things are as busy as ever! Keep popping in when you get the chance :wave2:

To all of you with children...I admire you and your patience. Love your children :love2: and, yes...this too shall pass. :goodvibes

OK, gotta go home now...I'll do more when I get home...

-Christal

Hey guys!! Well I did call back to the TA seems the hubby and wife (owners) went together on this cruise till Saturday. I was nice to the poor lady who was left there alone, then when she kept telling me he'd make it right I lost it. Why should he have to make it right? Why wasn't it right in the begining?? :listen: Seems all his files are locked up in his desk and only he is a key holder. Told her I could give her my reservation # and all that... to no good. I have to wait.... I have learned a very valueable lesson. ::yes::

They will make this good, this town isn't that large that damage couldn't be accomplished by word of mouth. The lady at the TA told me she would tell him to call me first thing Monday morning. I told her he better, we cruise too often and plan to more in the future to mess it up. Funny thing is we never go alone it usually 8-16 of us that go.

Also called DCL back and they told me he can give credit from his side to change the total, to reimburse it to me.... What-Ever!! :snooty:

I'm just :crazy2:

Thanks all of you for trying to help..I will take all your info in and check other avenues.

I personally want to cancel from him and rebook somewhere else just because!!!

I'll let you know what happen's...in the mean time I think DH blood pressure shot to the moon and back..told him to make sure he was taking his meds. it's not over with yet :crazy2:

Tea for Wendy I just may be pm you when I get more details on what he did :rolleyes2

Emily, Jen, Brad, Missy all of you... Thank you :disrocks:

Hi y'all... Just checking in. I'm jealous of those of you getting discounts on your cabins. Wish the FL resident or military discount was good on Cat. 2!!

I went to a free session at Curves yesterday. I have 2 more free sessions and then I need to decide whether to join or not. I think I will. Maybe if I go every day I will be able to get something nice to wear on the cruise. (I know, I sure did wait till almost the last minute, didn't I? :confused3 )

No time for a longer post, but I'll be back.

Karen

Trisha, we were at Holiday World also last weekend. We rented the RV's next door at Lake Rudolph with 5 other families from church. It was hot and humid but we were glad to have the AC in RV. It was so humid that it took 1-1/2 cans of starter fluid to get our fire going. The kids loved riding in the golf carts -- just rode for hours.
The adults started having time trials on a predetermined course. You lose a few seconds dodging bike riders, pedestrians and fans watching the cornhole tournament.

:wave2: Good to hear from all of you "boys"!
And you too Karen! The curves thing is tempting. Right now my gym membership is more like a charity. I think I have paid for it for a year easily, without going. They love people like me. I'm going to see if I can write it off as a donation. :rotfl2: That being said, I got up at 4:45 again today and walked four miles. Yea for me! It is getting to the point that everything we put in our mouths, goes on the cruise with us via our b**ts! So, unless you want to lug around that pepperoni pizza and chicken parmagiana...just say no! (like that will happen). my scale broke yesterday (no smoke and flying springs, just stopped the digital readout) well I HAVE to have a scale, so I just got out my sharpie and wrote the number I wanted to see on it. Seems to have worked and coincidentally I hit the weight I wanted to be. It's great, no flucutating due to water weight...
Trisha, Sorry to hear about your pastor. I hope he has a complete recovery.

It was 105 here Tues. Broke every record since like 1828 or something. Yuck! :sunny:
Where is Pam (Winmo)?

I have to tell you guys I had never heard of Holiday World!! Sounded like Walley World to me! However last night we were watching a show on PBS (shows how much we really party in real life) on theme parks of yesterday and they had a little segment! Looks very quaint and like it would bring back a lot of memories for those of you who grew up around there. I think we do our equivalent 3 days a Cedar Point here. We go the week before school starts every year with my husbands family. We have actually crossed over to "adult" this year and we got our own room instead of sharing with my in-laws! The same ones we are going on this cruise with.

Funny about the jealousy thing on the discounted cabins...........ever since those rates came out we have been talking  about how our hurricane discount doesn't even compare.........I am just way to cheap. I would have switched cabins and gotten 2 cat 6's to get the discount ( I mean if I were you in a cat 2). Heck, with the difference I could go on a whole other vacation. I tend to mix the quanity vs. quality of my trips to get the most for my money. I guess that is from being a stay at home mom for 12 years, relying on a :firefight salary! You bet your buns we still went on at least one great vacation a year.......usually 2! Although the temptation of the cat 2 is pretty magnetic! Good thing I am not you and will just stick with my cat 6.......I might loose sleep over the debate in my head.

Wonder if all of you got the cool down we did last night? When I went outside this morning I could not believe it! I bet it's under 80 maybe under 75 degrees. WOW

Have a good day,

Missy

Morning everyone. Awoke this morning with a throbing headache that won't go away. Hopefully it will leave in a little while.

Missy, I've always wanted to go to Cedar Point. I love roller coasters! And that is the roller coaster capital of the world! When are you going?

Jen, you had me laughing my a** off. Does that count as exercise? Maybe I should do that to my scale, just write in my magic number. You can lose alot of weight quickly that way.

Later everyone,
Emily

Missy, I know what you mean about 1 Cat 2 vs. 2 Cat. 6 rooms. We had 2 Cat. 6 rooms on our first cruise (booked with a military discount). This Cat 2 thing was just something we wanted to do as a one-time thing; with the kids so young it is nicer to have us all in one cabin instead of having to keep the door propped open... I doubt we'll do it again. It will probably be a while before we cruise again. We'll be doing more WDW trips or other vacations to use our DVC points.

Jen, your trick with the scale is hilarious.

Oh, and I'd never heard of Holiday World, either.

Karen

Hi everyone,

Not much time to chat. Just wanted to pop in and say hi. We're off to Hocking Hills (southern Ohio) for a weekend getaway! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, have a great weekend and I'll catch up Sunday/Monday.

Emily, I hope your head feels better. That stinks!

Jenny, Have a great weekend! Hocking Hills yet another place I've never heard of. Holiday World was on the top 10 water parks (right Trisha?)

I can make my posts look shorter by leaving off my signiture! Plus, this one is short!

Finally some place I've been to! We spent a weekend at Hocking Hills 5 years ago when my husband got back from Kuwait. We stayed at Bear Run Cabins.

Hope you have fun!

Karen

Yes, Jen, Holiday World was featured on Travel Channel's 2004 top ten water parks. Of course it is not just a water park, it is also a theme park with roller coasters and everything. They have a new wave pool this year and next year they are adding a new lazy river and an all new "Thanksgiving" themed area with a new roller coaster. I can't wait! You guys should check it out at http://holidayworld.com. It is a great family place. Have you ever heard of a theme park that has free parking, free soda all day long, and free sunscreen. Holiday World has it all! ::yes::

There is no new news on my Pastor other than he is stable in St. Louis and they are still running test. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the prayers
