Sept 16 2012 - WONDERing who's on the Calif Coastal with me?!

Good morning all (Morning on this side of the globe anyway :) )
I can feel the excitement building!!

RE cabin crawl - we are in the doldrums of the ship :( I am not sure whether anyone needs to see that part of the ship LOL. Hoping for serious pixie dust at port ;) Maybe becasue we booked on opening day and paid in full we might be the selected ones to be upgraded!! One can only hope! I would however love to be involved in the cabin crawl as I would love to see how the other half live :)

we leave in just over 5 weeks for our dream disney holiday - there have been a few hiccups from our TA perspective but we have crossed that path and sorted it

Hope you are all well, I have come down with flu today so am at home - glad I am sick now and not in a few weeks time!

Have an awesome day all - welcome to all the newbies :)

Hello! JUST booked this cruise three days ago!!! Whoo Hoo!!!! I've never sailed with Disney Cruise Line before so I am very curious to experience it-- will also be bringing two of my children! :goodvibes

hello all! Just wanted to say Hi and give a lil' background on us. Me and my hubby will be cruising with our then 29 month old daughter, my 13 year old lil' sister, and my 8 year old niece. We will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary, my birthday, my sisters birthday, and my nieces birthday. We will be coming up from Thousand Oaks, CA. This will be our first cruise and we are super excited. My husband is in a wheelchair, so we are a lil' nervous about this trip. He is a very independent guy given he his in a wheelchair - but he does get uneasy around crowds. Just found this site a few days ago and have been enjoying reading through this thread. Anyone have any insight on the seating in the theaters for people in wheelchairs? Or any other insight that might help in our situation? Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you :cool1:

Welcome. MadLove, I'm not sure how the crowds will be on this special cruise but based on my previous observations from past cruises I believe your husband will be just fine and your family will have a great time. I have seen various travellers in wheelchairs or scooters on all the trips I have been on.
The theaters have reserved seating in the back for disabled persons and I've even seen several disabled people enter through a side door in the front of the theater for a closer view.

A few years ago we traveled with some friends of the family who required a wheelchair and really had no major issues. In the theater you can either have the space in the back row, or they will also meet you down in Sessions and walk you through the side door if you want to sit in the front. The Cast Members at the entrance of the theater were great in helping us out.

The only issue we ran into was elevators. So many times they would be full with people that you could not get a wheelchair in...we actually ended up asking some people to please take the stairs after waiting for multiple elevators.

But that is all minor in the whole grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the warm welcome and quick responses. I have actually heard that about the elevators. We will just have to be a bit assertive ;)!

Pirate night question. I have read that it gets really crowded, but we don't want to miss that at all. The girls already have pirate outfits. Where do they have the pirate night activities? Any suggestions on a good location to be in our siutation where my husband will be able to move a round a little and not be face-to-butt (LOL - if that makes sense :lmao:).

Thanks again.

I prefer to grab a spot on Deck 10 Starboard. You are overlooking the party stuff, then you just turn around and have a perfect spot for the fireworks.

Another question if you all don't mind. Is there a weight limit on the checked baggage? And is each person allowed one carry-one? I am sure I will have more questions, being a newbie and all - but I do try and reserach before asking. Thanks.

I've begun to pack the clothes I KNOW we are going to want (Disney tees, ect). We recently moved and so as I find clothes I pack them rather than putting them away. My DH said "don't pack that, I want to wear that" I told him if he wears it he has to put it back in the suitcase after washing it so I can keep track of everything.
So the cruise needs to get here already! I'm making very nice progress on the FEs. We are so excited. :cool1:

No weight limit on checked baggage but obviously a concern if you are flying. When I check at the port in I usually have a carry-on and a personal item. I would suggest that you pack your essentials (medicine, cruise documents, etc) not to mention your bathing suits in your carry-on just in case you want to hit the pool when you get on board the ship. Your checked baggage might take a few hours before it arrives in your stateroom.

As mentioned by Ludari, there is no weight limit for checked items and since you're not flying (I assume, coming from Thousand Oaks!) that won't be an issue. For carry-ons, there is no limit of items...just what ever you can carry!

since I'm new, I'll ask the "dumb" question... what in the world is a Fish Extender?????? :confused3

From FE 101 Basics:

So just what exactly is a “fish” and just why does it need “extending”? Well… The “fish” is a combination wall decoration/ornament and message clip that is attached to the wall outside every cabin on the Magic & Wonder. The CMs (that’s “Cast Members” for the newbies) use them to leave messages, official forms or invitations for the occupants of the cabin as needed.

A “Fish Extender” is any thing that you care to hang on the fish. Literally anything will qualify, but in general, they are usually some type pocket organizer similar to a shoe caddy or mail organizer. They can be as simple as a canvass bag or as complex as your imagination cares to stretch.

So, what’s it for? Well… It’s become a kind of “Secret Santa” game played by the folks who roam the DIS Boards. The idea is that every DIS Member who is on the same cruise will go around the ship and leave a little “nick-nack” or “whats-it” in the pouches for the other members that are playing along. The generally agreed rules are that you give out gifts to each participant once per cruise, and that the gifts should be very inexpensive trinkets that either fit a cruise or holiday theme and/or show off a little taste of who you are or the place that you call home. Here’s a link to a continuing thread on the boards that discusses the subject at length:

For carry on it has to fit through the scanner...like the ones in airports. But other than that you can have mulitple bags.

I just booked a few day passes to Rainforest Spa. Anyone else doing this?
