Sept 16, 2010, Disney Wonder Bahama Cruise

I've tried to figure out how to PM and can't find it. Please add our family to the FE list. Room 7028: 2 girls (3,4), Room 7030: Boy (6), girl (5). Thanks!!

CAN'T WAIT:banana:

On our 3 night cruise, I read we have a Pirate night. What do you do that night? What does everyone wear?? Is there a "dress-up" night on the 3 day cruise? I appreciate any info!! pirate:

The 2nd night is "pirate night". A lot of people dress up like pirates and have fun with it. At 9pm or so, DCL puts out a huge dessert buffet on deck 9, and they have a "pirate party". Bring your eye patches and hand-hooks and puffy shirts.

The 3rd night is a de-facto "formal night", although there isn't an official "formal night" on the 3-nt cruise. A lot of people dress up (we don't), and you'll see some beautiful dresses, especially on all the little princesses.

OK, the Fish Extender list, so far, is:

KSandbergFL - room 2050, DS(8)
FloridaDad - room 5006, DS(6), DD(4)
CapriseP - room 7028: DD(4), DD(3)
Caprise P - room 7030: DS(6), DD(5)

That makes seven (7) kids.

Yes we do have 4 cruises already booked. We are slightly addicted, plus we wanted both kids to be able to celebrate their birthday's next year on the dream. We haven't really been able to find a better vacation for the whole family (we get to relax and the kids get to play all day) so that's what we save our money for.

Hi,
I sent ya a message to be added to the FE. I forgot to mention that we do not have our room number yet. When do you normally receive them? This is our first disney cruise so if anyone has any advice.....please share.
Thanks and see you all on the 16th.

KJDaniel66 - room ????: DS(7)

Usually you will get your room assignment when you get your documents in the mail for your cruise. I have heard of some people not getting their room assignment until they get to the port, but that has never happened to us. You can also check your reservation online to see if you have gotten a room # yet.

You will have a great time.

Thanks for the advice everyone! And thanks for the PM. I was able to get our room number on the disney cruise website. If you all didn't tell me....than I would never have noticed it there.
Thanks so much.
Do you have any good advice for a first time cruiser????
Thanks in advance,
Kelly J. Daniel

Do you have any good advice for a first time cruiser????

1.) on the first day, bring your swimsuits with you, or wear them. Your luggage might not get to your room until 2pm or 3pm... and you might want to jump in the pool.

2.) On Nassau Day, we like to skip the excursions and the shopping, and just hang out at the beach. You can get a taxi for $4 per person, to just about anywhere.... you could go to a swanky hotel, like the Hilton or the Wyndham, and pay to use their beach; or there's a free public beach called Cabbage Beach, just 1/2 mile down the road from Atlantis. The Hilton is within walking distance of the port terminal, no taxi needed. I think it's $30 per person for beach access, but that includes a poolside lunch. We learned the "hard way" that a day at Castaway Cay is not guaranteed... so if you spend Nassau Day on the boat, thinking that you have the next day for playing on the beach -- you might miss out.

3.) feel free to skip a dinner and/or a show. You are not "required" to go, and sometimes "the flow" of the day just leads you to spend the evening up on the 9th deck, or in your room. You can order room service, or get ala-carte items (like pizza, burgers, hot dogs, panini's) up on the 9th deck. We always skip at least one dinner, and haven't been to any shows since our first cruise.

4.) Use the pre-paid tipping option.... Disney makes it easy to tip your servers and room steward... you can charge the tips to your VISA/room account... quick and easy.

Thanks so much for the advice.
I am so happy you told me about the luggage thing. Our flight leaves PA at 0700, and we will not see our luggage again until we get on the ship. I will plan to have our swimsuits in our carry-on when we take off in the morning.

Thanks for all the advice. It's fantastic.
Kelly

Does anyone have an idea where I can purchase Disney Photo mats for the characters to sign? Also, has anyone purchased the prepaid photo credits before the cruise? Thanks for the advise and info :cool1:

OK, the Fish Extender list is still the same (see above). Please check the room numbers, make sure everything is still correct. Looks like there are 4 boys and 4 girls... does everyone have their Fish Extender done yet?

If someone is following this thread, and you haven't asked to join the FE list yet -- you have about one more week -- please don't dawdle!

Hi,
Sorry such late notice but just made aware of this forum and our first Disney Cruise and such. How does the fe work, how often, etc? We are surprising our dd who will turn 8 on embarkation day, so that will be exciting! Looking forward to it!
Thanks,
sojourners

I ordered mine several weeks ago from a lady on E-bay. She had excellent ratings and I have already paid for all 3. I'm hoping to get them this weekend!!
If not, I'm gonna be stuck with a lot of stuff for my grandkids that I've bought to surprise them with!

I'm not too worried about the weather but I am totally exhausted trying to pull everything together! We decided at the last minute to go the Magic Kingdom and take the kids to the Halloween party on TUesday night then Universal on Wednesday. By the time we make it to the boat on Thursday, I might collapse!!

I'm so ready for this trip!!!:woohoo:

hi there, thanks for "opting in". We surprised our son last September, for his 8th birthday, the same way -- he was so stunned he was speechless.

Did you look up the Fish Extender info thread (I posted it earlier)? It's just a letter/envelope holder that you decorate with Disney stuff, and hang over the metal fish in the hallway, outside your door. The others on the list will sneak by at various times and put candy/treats, or little "stocking stuffer" type gifts in the pouch. The kids love it -- coming back to the room from dinner or the show, and having a surprise waiting for them. Most people just stop by once, but on one cruise we had a creative family who came by several times, with different "crafty" things. Please don't spend a lot of money, or a lot of time worrying about it. MY wife finds lots of Disney knick-knacks at Target and such, on clearance, so we're always stocked up and ready to FE!

So now the list is:

KSandbergFL - room 2050, DS(8)
FloridaDad - room 5006, DS(6), DD(4)
CapriseP - room 7028: DD(4), DD(3)
Caprise P - room 7030: DS(6), DD(5)
KJDaniel66 - room 2611 DS(7)
Sojourners -- room 6503, DD(8 - birthday girl!)

Thanks so much for adding her! Had no idea all this went on in the background but sure sounds like fun for the kids!
