Anyone know which time period is usually more crowded? We originally were going to go Oct 1-11 but my wife couldn't get off work for those dates, so we booked for Sept 14-24 and have since made all PS's. However my wife can now get off for Oct. So, I'm not sure if its really worth cancelling my current ressie along with all Ps's just for a chance of a little bit cooler weather.

Crowds will be about the same for both weeks - NO CROWDS - but the October time period should be a little cooler and dryer.

You should check your rates, however, because DIsney often goes from Value Season to Regular Season as soon as October begins, so you might have to pay more for October.

Another thing to consider is special events. Both MNSSHP and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival occur in October. If they start before Oct 11, you will have a chance to try them out, which is a big plus for the October time period. I've never been to MNSSHP, but I have been to the F&W Fest and I HIGHLY recommend it!

It won't be much cooler in Oct than Sept... don't use weather as a deciding factor! (OK... so maybe it will be 83 instead of 85... but nothing earth-shattering).

Actually I'm not sure that's true for this year. The free dining package has been very popular and it runs til Oct 4. So Sept which is usually slow might be quite busy. Have you thought of booking the free dining package? I think you could use it either week since your trip starts before it ends.

Like Kiki said, it's not going to be much cooler in October, but you will have the F&WF. So I'd rebook for October - we might even see ya as were boozin' and grubbin'!

The famous 7-for-4 package that Disney put out last year didn't pick up September bookings more than a few percent, so I seriously doubt that the free dining package will, either. I doubt that the free dining plan would increse Sept bookings more than 2-3%, but even a 30% increse in bookings would still result in crowd levels far below those of the mid-summer peak season.

September is DESERTED in WDW for one big reason: the vast majority of schools in the United States still run from late Aug-early Sept through early to mid-June. After the last week of Aug, attendance drops off drastically, and for the whole month of Sept WDW is a ghost town.

Also factor in the fact that since September saw a recor-breaking 4 hurricanes make landfall in central Florida last year, most of the country has paniced and now believes that the entire month of September is Armageddon in WDW.

I will be very interested to see what kinds of discounts and specials Disney releases over the summer for Sept; I'll be willing to bet that bookings for Sept are going to be even lower than usual.

Also, October is not much cooler than September (only a few degrees), but humidity levels are typically much lower and average rainfall decreases, making October much more comfortable than humid, rainy September.
