Okay, the duct tape....I've seen it on several lists, and scrapperjill just mentioned it again. What's the duct tape for? Anyone? I just can't imagine...

Well, just found out we do NOT have to go out of town this weekend afterall!
The birthday party has been postoned to the weekend after we get back thank goodness!

So now, I have NO excuse for not getting everything done this 3 day weekend.....or at least get close to it!!


scrapperjill- no specials plans before taking off. I had planned on getting my nails done the day before but now I have to work
so I'll have to figure something out! And my daughter along with aaronamy's daughter
will be at a football game until who knows when
so it will be a crazy day and night prior to leaving!

Well, I just talked to my TA and DCL still hasn't sent our documents. They are checking to find out why. Now I'm really nervous. I said they still have us on the ship, right? She said yes, but I'm really worried because they don't know why they haven't sent them. She also told me that she never booked my hotel, even though the quote included it. I am still arguing with whether she needs to do it now and not make me pay anything extra as that is what the quote included. We'll see.

I started my room sign and buttons. I started packing some things that I know I won't need until the cruise, but I figure I'll do most of it on Monday when I have off.

The kids are getting really excited, everyday we take a ring off of our chain and they love counting down.

We are so busy with appointments before the trip. On Friday I have my ultrasound and get my hair and nails done. We have Girl Scouts and gymnastics and our care broke down last night and the other one got a recall notice. Ugh!! The time is going so fast right now. Why does everything happen at once?

It will be so nice to relax in 10 days!! The only port that we have an excursion planned is GC because I just want to RELAX.

Sounds like everyone is busy trying to pack. Don't pack too much! We did that last time and I regretted it. The kids barely wear more that a swimsuit each day, I don't even bring an outfit for each day except for dinner. I figure I can do laundry if we run into a problem.

If I do need to book the hotel on my own, where are you guys staying on Friday night? Have you booked your own transportation to the port? Maybe a group of us could share a limo. Let me know what you think.

Duct tape ....I had that very same question about what in the world would duct tape be for.....since then I have learned...you can use duct tape for a number of things...from taping your suitcase shut...if the zipper or latch should break, quick fix of a hem in a bind, a strapless wonder boost bra if needed, tape that blind shut for mid day naps....the list goes on and on and on it a all in wonder tool. However hopefuly someone else will be bring it along... cuz we just dont have the room for our roll .

Lopezgang...I hope they figure something out PDQ about your document mystery. It will be nice and quite a relief once you find out something. And if your quote included your TA booking a room for you and it is noted in your confirmation...you shouldn't have to worry about her/them not making the reservation for you. Also if you were quoated your price to include your room you shouldn't be expected to pay additional now...just because she forgot or didn't get around to doing it until now.....Just my opion We will be staying in Kissimmee area at Give Kids the World the night before..and driving to the port in the morning. However in some ways it would be nice to be staying closer to the port the night before.

Idb1030...that will be nice not to have to worry about going out of town...and being able to spend some time getting things together. I too was thinking of getting my nails done before we go...but haven't decided yet...I'm thinking I better decide soon. We also have a very busy week ahead....the girls started school today We have to get the slider door repaired (the glass shattered out of the blue...we were sitting in the family room and BAMM the whole slider busted...real weird....at first we thought someone threw something at it...but at the same time the bamm happened our friend was walking in the gate..and saw the initial break...without anything hitting it) I have a apointment on Thursday, then on Friday we have to take Sydney back over to Children's for a recheck. So by Saturday...we will need a day of rest and relaxation.

Well schools about out...and have to go pick the girls up....hey anyone else watching the hurricanes and tropical stormes that are working there way up??? I'm praying Frances will make a trun in the right directions.

Thanks for the duct tape info! I already feel like I'm packing so many "incidentals" that I might have to skip the duct tape. Watch, with my luck, I'll be the first one who needs it!

I've been watching the hurricanes too on www.hurricane.accuweather.com. My brother is going on a mini-trip to Myrtle Beach SC for a long weekend, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll have good weather. With his luck, he'll be evacuated out right in the middle of his trip!

Scrapperjill -- hope your girls had a great first day of school! We're already in week 3 here...the summer is just too short!

We are staying at the Quality Suites Cocoa Beach Friday night. All of the rooms are suites, it is a new hotel, and you can get a shuttle to the airport from the sister property, the Radisson. You can also leave your car at the Radisson when you buy the shuttle package. I beleive that it was less than $20 total for three of us (parking and shuttle). If you have the PassPorter, you can check out their write-up on the hotel.

We still do not have our docs either

Well, supposedly the paperwork is on the way, but now the hold up is my medical clearance. I let the TA know as soon as I found out I was pregnant and just now they tell me that I have to have a medical clearance TODAY before they send out the tickets! I am so frustrated. I thought everything was taken care of. Come to find out when I didn't book the airfare with them they did not include the hotel, but weren't very clear about it. Since they didn't do the hotel I decided to cancel the Disney transfers as it didn't make any sense to use them. It ends up being $200 back, so it's actually cheaper to book our own hotel and car. I got a room at the Marriott Airport for $36 on priceline and I think we're going to do Happy Limo town car with the money we got back.

Oh well, at least I know I'm on the ship. All the more reason to relax when onboard.

We are at the Radisson on Friday night (barring any change in departure caused by these storms!) We have a one way rental from Budget and will return the car on Saturday and use their shuttle. We have DCL transfers for the return to the airport.

I have been on the Hurricane Frances thread here, as have some of you. It sounds as if DCL is making contact with Thurs, Sat and maybe Sunday cruisers to get updated contact info in case of a diversion or delay. (Remember Charley?) Their are folks due to leave this week who seem to have several contingency plans from changes in port to changes in their departure from home! (And I thought that I had that licked by flying in on Friday!)

TraSee and HookedonMagic, my prayers are with you and everyone else in the area. Let's hope Frances takes a sharp turn away from land or downgrades to something less intense!

Nancy...thanks for the well wishes. At 11am this morning it looked like Frances was heading more towards Jacksonville. At 5pm, the local news says it looks more like a direct hit into Volusia/Brevard counties.(right towards my house)(again) The problem is that we have empty fields stacked with debris from Charley, mostly trees. This debris will be missles into our homes if Frances hits. They are talking about a manditory evacuation of anyone within a 5 mile radius of a field where muclching is happening. There are a lot of fields and that means a lot of people. It is crazy. We went to Wal-mart this evening and there was hardly any water, ceral, or bread left. My husband is a police lieutenant and was in our local grocery store today. The manager said that they had not restocked all of the shelves since Charley and cancelled all of their shipments for this week because they lost so much money from spoiled food just weeks ago. PLEASE send your prayers to whomever ends up in the track of this dangerous storm.

On a lighter note...on our first cruise we had rough seas and our closet door kept opening and closing and making all kinds of noise. Duct tape would have been the answer!!

Congrats on your upgrade Scrapperjill!! That is great! I still have not packed, trying to clean my house for my son's birthday party this weekend. Why I would plan something like this so close to leaving, I must have had a moment of insanity! Anyways it will be done with and then Monday I can finish packing. My DH just asked me yesterday what I was going to do with all of the snorkel gear? I reminded him of the gear he rented last year and he now sees the need for our own.

Lopezgang, we are staying at the Best Western at the airport the night before and using FL tours to get to port. We do not get in to FL until almost 11:00 pm.

We have nothing planned for the day before we leave. My son starts 2nd grade on the 9th (for 1 hour) and then a full day on the 10th - his school went through a major construction project which delayed their start. I have to work, so I need to have everything done and packed no later than Thursday evening.

I cannot believe we are down to single digits!

Yep...after thinking of all the uses for the duct tape...I'm given' it some more thought...maybe I should make some room to add a roll ...or two.....From what I hear...you can buy it in a variety of colors now ...so we won't have to be board with the old metal gray....theres..blue, red, green and even pink or yellow. So many choices...what will we do. I'm thinking of the closet door bouncing back and forth...eeks it would drive me nuts.

Continuing to pray for hurricane Francise to die down...or take a turn out to open sea.

The duct tape does come in a variety of neon colors and it comes in a travel-like flat package~not that big roll. My attitude, which my husband doesn't always agree with, is if there is still room in the suitcase, why not?!

Can some one tell me what time the meet is, i can not locate the post....i remeber somthing about 3pm by the kiddy pool, is that correct?

Also, have any of you seen Dolphins or anything from the ship? We saw a group of Dolphins last year from our Verandah. But i was wondering, many people say as the Ship leaves the port you see a lot of sea creatures...I am wondering should we risk missing the sail away party to watch for animals from our veranda? Our room is towards the back of the ship.

On my 2 previous cruises, I've never seen any sea creatures but have talked to people who have!

I believe the meet is 3pm but not sure at which pool?! I'll just follow aaronamy around!
