Sept. 11th, 2004!!! Roll Call!

Kathy, I'll email you our info this evening when I have access to our room number! Thanks for volunteering.

This forum has already provided a friend for DS12! He's very excited about going but as a "tweener" was afraid he'd be too big for the kids group and too young for the teens scene!

Our last cruise payment is due this week also!

Why does everyone's countdown clocks say something a little different?

Marti

Just made my final payment!!!:goodvibes

Now I need to keep working on the spending money!:scared:

We made our final payment on Tuesday, although it will be awhile till we get the credit card bill so we haven't really felt it yet. Must mean we are getting close!!!:bounce:

Ours is set for the Saturday before the cruise..bucause thats when our vacation starts.

I sure am missing my count down clock. I hope they hurry up and get them back on the boards....I think they said they should be up and running by tomarrow:rolleyes:

:wave2: Hi everyone! I am very new at this - first time disney cruiser. I am a single mom with 6yr old girl/boy twins traveling on 9/11 cruise. Can anyone tell me if there is a special dress code at night for dinner? Is there a formal night?

Also - concerned that my cabin is on deck 2 and worried about it being noisy with the club above me - anyone heard of any problems? Thanks! Look forward to seeing and meeting people!

Hello Lisa, SB! Welcome aboard!:earsboy:

The dress code for dinner varies by night. There is one formal night, one semi-formal night, and five casual nights (one of those is tropical night!) Your cruise documents should better define what the dress codes mean and you can do a search on this board. People debate all of the time about what you should/should not wear to dinner.

We've sailed on deck 2...we had the same worries as you about noise, but were pleasantly surprised. In fact, deck 2 turned out to be a great location...you have easy access to deck 1 for getting on/off the ship in port, plus you are an easy walk to decks 3 and 4 where the dining rooms and theater are located. Also, there is a laundry facility on deck 2 which can come in handy when travelling with kids.

welcome Lisa SB!:wave2: We are on deck 2 also. We were on deck 2 last time and really liked it. It was very quite and quick to get off the ship. We thought about getting a verandah but I'm always thinking about my next trip and so I like to economize. Besides I'm afraid if I ever did I'd have to have it everytime:)

I just wanted to say that I'll be joining all of you on 9/11. We will be bringing our almost 3 yr old twins with us on our first vacation since they were born. Wish us luck. We'll be flying cross-country (Calif), spending the night and boarding the next day. We figured it had been so long since we've taken a vacation that we'd go the distance and have a blast.

Hi Tammy,

We are also flying from California, but are going a few days before the cruise. I wish you easy flights! We will have our almost 4 year old daughter with us. She is very excited. Are your twins boys/girls/1 of each?

Erin

Welcome Tammyh and Lisa SB!

Lisa SB, I have never done the 7 night, but there is a formal and semiformal night. Like Hookedonmagic said, I would search the boards. This subject is very debated here. You will find a lot of information from several experienced cruisers on these boards. I know I did.

Tammyh - good luck with your travels to Florida. I am lucky my 7 & 4 year old can sit still for the 3 1/2 hour flight!

If you are interested, I am working on a Cruisers list. This is completely optional. I had seen it on another cruise meet and thought it would be a nice icebreaker for all. If you want to email me, I will put your information on the list. I am including information such as your DISname, Names of people in your party, ages (of children or all), Room number, Dining time (early or late), an interest of yours or your family or your favorite thing Disney. You provide what information you would like to share and I will work on the list. Also, we are planning a dismeet on the cruise and a photo swap - there are several scrapbookers sailing and it was brought up to share photos. That way we get several different pics.

Thanks to all that have provided information already. I started putting it together and will send it out to you when I get back next week.

I am off to Disneyworld tomorrow!!!!!!! One trip down, then I can concentrate on the Cruise!:Pinkbounc

Kathy

kathy,
Great idea about the list. I will email you when I get home tomorrow. (All the room info is at home.)
Thanks for compiling the list!

Erin (cali4niacruisin),
Our twins are boy/girl and will be 3 on 10/25. Sure hope that they handle the 5 hour flight. They're doing their best to show that the terrible two's were named that for a reason! I've convinced myself that once we embark, we'll be ok.

We're also working very hard on potty training right now. I believe my dd will be there but ds is questionable. I have to believe that we would be better off waiting a year but it's been so long since we've taken a vacation and the whole family needs it. If it works out, me might try it again next year (maybe!)

Thanks Kathy for the well wishing!

Hi all!
Kathy,
I sent an email with all our info for the cruise list.

I know that we are talking about a DIS meet on Saturday at the Mickey pool at 3:00ish. Sounds good to me. That is if I get myself organized!
Is anyone staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise? We have ressies there on Friday. We plan to eat at Grill's for dinner that night. (We ate there in March when we took a ride to check out the area.) The food and service were very nice. Great view of the ship canal.
If anyone is staying at the Radisson on Friday how about a pre cruise meet on Friday night?
Now I need to get busy checking out shore excursions so that I don't get left out!

princess: I did it! I booked my excursions - On Grand Cayman I am booked on Capt Bryan for stingray city and Cozumel we are swimming with the dolphins!!

If you book direct it is alot cheaper than what Disney offers - thanks to all the threads - I was able to learn quickly.

Anyone else book excursions?

Welcome to all the new cruisers!:wave2:

Looks like we'll have plenty of LISA's on board!!::yes::

Lisa SB- we've already booked our stringray excursion w/ Captain Marvins and looks like tomorrow is the 60day mark so I'm booking my daughter to parasail on castaway cay
I have NO idea why she wants to do that!!! I guess I'm just chicken!:scared1:

Welcome to all the new comers! 2 months to go and counting! :wave2:

Kathy (amgpmg), I emailed my family's info to you but didn't put that my disname is 4Sedgs but our last name is Sedgwick so if you would please note that.

Where is eveyone getting their cheaper, direct booking information for excursions from? I would love information on excursions?

We haven't made our plans about driving down yet. I was considering the Radisson if we got in town the night before.

Are there any NC or SC cruisers on our list?

Marti

:chat:
I checked to see what Disney's excursions were then I went to these websites

http://www.cozumelonline.com/
http://www.caymanislands.ky/

to see what else to do. I chose the dolphin encounter myself because it looks like Disney has to go thru the Park and I saved almost $100 by booking direct.

I read on other boards that Disney's stingray excursion gets too crowded so Capt Bryan has only 10 pp on a catamaran

Hope this helps!

4Sedgs ...I did a simple search on the internet on the places we would be in port. I also furthered my search to look for things that we wanted to do at the ports...like snorkeling in Grand Caymans, or electric cars in Key West and Beaches in Cozumel. From there I was able to find a variety of business in the area that specalized in our likes. I also found a lot of names and sites from this board. :D

Our main reason to go on our own was because with disney they consider our DD11 an adult for fee purposes...where most of the independant business don't. :teeth:
