Sept 11, I'm sad :(

This may be just my opinion…but I am just shocked at the lack of coverage today on the television stations regarding the anniversary of 9/11. It feels like, in the media at least, that it’s just another day. In downtown Indy, there is a volunteer-fair on Monument Circle, which is nice, but as far as the news (the Today Show, GMA, etc, etc), the anniversary is hardly getting a passing glance.

On yahoo, there was an article written by the AP that started out with “the nation pauses to remember”. Pauses? It’s a fine line, I suppose, not to dwell, but I think we owe those that lost their lives and to the family members that lost loved ones more than a pause…

I don’t know… maybe I’m just uber-sensitive… but I don’t want it to become just another day. There’s something about the words “September Eleventh” that should be held sacred when they are spoken out-loud. Am I alone in thinking this way?

No your are not wrong in your thinking. This is not just another day.
September Eeleventh is a sacred day and should be remember as that.
It should also be the day of love, let those you love know it.

I remember this day like very few other days my sr year of high school. It was my 18th birthday, and we were in first period class. Marine Bio was the class. When across the PA system the principal announced that a plane had crashed into the WTC. After that class let out I left school, picked up my brother from school, and headed home to watch TV with the family. A day I will never forget. The one quote from that day that has stuck in my head since that day was after the first tower collapsed when I asked my father who is a firefighter "why the hell would anyone run into that building?" The response i got was "There just doing there job." That wa sthe day i decide dtop pursue a career as a firefighter.

I totally agree. I turned on GMA this morning and September 11th was almost an afterthought (same with the Today Show). I couldn't believe it! I'm watching the September 11th show on the History Channel. Very interesting, but it still makes my stomach upset to relive that day. I was teaching kindergarten that morning and we were not allowed to let them go outside that day. We are close to a Navy base and there was fear that it might have been a target.
