Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

I saw this post from another board, and wanted to share... it is in reguards to the NEW terminal opening time, and how it would take effect for guests and concierge guests. Just thought I would share.

Okay, I got a follow-up call from the concierge manager today. Did not really learn a whole lot of new information but this is what she told me.

As of August 2nd DCL will monitor and enforce the port arrival times. She said that if someone shows up before their arrival time then they will be told about things in the area they can do or will be made to wait outside the terminal until their arrival time. She did say that priority will be given to those guests who check-in online and have a port arrival time. As several of us have stated on this thread it will be interesting to see if DCL actually enforces the port arrival times. I can just see all kinds of problems with this. It’s going to be great if DCL sticks to their guns but until word gets out it is going to be very interesting.

There will be no separate line outside the terminal for concierge/platinum guests and we will not get front of the line, if there is one. So again this presents a problem if DCL does not enforce the port arrival times and they allow people to get in line before their port arrival time.

According to documentation she had, your boarding number will now be tied to your port arrival time. I’m still not sure how this is going to work with the buses from MCO. Also, as most of us have read on the boards, the boarding numbers seem to be at the discretion of the CM’s in the terminal. I have seen plenty of reports of people getting a high boarding number when they enter the terminal but then having a CM change it to a lower one just because they wanted to spread some pixie dust.

She also told me that our non-concierge guests will not be allowed to board with us anymore unless we want to board with them under their boarding number.

I also wanted to say that our family and our friends are going to be staying at the Radisson at the Port the night prior to our cruise, taking the free shuttle over to the port.

I am sooooo ready to be on the cruise already!

Just wanted to let ya'll know that right now as I speak the Dream is in Port Canaveral. THAR SHE BE MATIES!!! You can see her at www.portcanaveral.com/webcam.htm

The other webcam, that I like better www.portcanaveralwebcam.com isn't showing her as yet. But I'm sure once someone gets into work there this morning and they realize the Dream is in port, they will turn the camera around to show the Dream!

As I've mentioned before, it's not just a vacation we've planned, it's our honeymoon. It's a little stressful, but we're leaving the night of the wedding, hopping on red-eye to Miami, then taking a puddle-jumper up to Orlando. We're on the boat, then 10 days in WDW.

Well, my fiancée wants to move to an apartment before we get married. She's never lived on her own, and wants to (however briefly) before we get hitched. That's understandable. But we've been putting it off being so busy with wedding planning.

We went "shopping" for rentals, and "sticker shock" doesn't fully express the gravity of the experience. With the housing market in Washington being such a mess, rent is through the roof. So we decided to look at foreclosures. Lo and behold, a fantastic condo practically falls into our laps. Just listed, just under 1300 sqft, just the right size for a newly married couple. And it's just about $100K.

So it's not like we needed any other major thing to do, but now we're putting an offer on a condo tonight. Home ownership, here we come!

I am the "praying sort" so I certainly will! That sure is an awful lot for you guys to deal with right now! I really hope everything goes smoothly for you both We just moved into a townhouse, so I know how hard it is. I hope you guys have lots of family and friends to help you. Congrats on the move and the wedding. And the honeymoon, of coursez

NEED SOME OPINIONS HERE PLEASE! - Ok, this is to all of my fellow cruisers who have done the Palo Brunch before. DW and I know the dress code is cruise casual.........Right?!?? We know that no shirt, no shoes is a BIG PROBLEM!!! But.......if I were to wear a Disney button up shirt with casual slacks be ok to wear? And, DW wore a matching sundress to my shirt be ok? Or should we go more along the lines of what you would wear say to Animator's Pallet, (cruise casual dress code), for the brunch? I think the matching shirt and DW's dress would be ok.............but DW is just not as sure as I am. What do ya'll think?

David, I think your button up shirt and slacks will be fine and your wife's sundress too. My DH wore a casual shirt and slacks and I wore a nice blouse with white Capri pants. ( I have to confess that my DH got sent back to change into those slacks from short pants, because I thought they would not care at brunch, but they care!!)

Hey Welcome Aboard!!! What a Wonderful Wish for you DD!! We are also a Wish Family, and my DD chose a Land and Sea Vacation back in 2006. It was our First time to WDW and our First Disney Cruise, and was SOOOO Magical!

I read your pre trip report and wow, your DD has been through a lot. She certainly is a little miracle I have a special cruise Wish Trip magnet I created, I'll pm it to you tomorrow (well today really, it's almost 3:30 in the morning). Dis Group T-Shirt Disign!!​

We will be having a Group meet on Board, TBA. Below are Disign Samples Based on the Shirt I made for my son and will be making for me. Others from our group are all in for this on our Face Book Page, And now here they are for everyone else too. The Slogan at the top can be changed to either indicate Family Name or whatever you would like, and the info in the ears can either be the dates ( I have a special one for us B2B'ers,). There is a Generic one too. This worked well on my cruise last fall, to be able to identify others from our group, and for the DIS Group Meeet. We are thinking 3pm on Boarding day in the atrium, First meeting up by the piano, then once everyone is there, move over to the stairs for a Group Photo. 3pm is a time where everyone is on board, has been able to get into their staterooms, eat, check out the ship, and just prior to that Mandatory Muster Drill. Let us know what you all think of this time, and if you want info personalized on the T Shirt disign, pm me

Choose your disign, and print out onto Dark Transfer paper, follow transfer paper directions and iron onto a White Or Black or whatever color you want T-shirt

Right now we are thinking 3:00 on embarkment day. There is also an idea for a t-shirt.

LOL, I think we were both on at the same time this morning I wanted to move the FE info to this new page, so used the post on the previous page to put the Shirt Disigns and also asked about thoughts on the meet time.

I'm picking my boys up from Camp this afternoon, Gosh I MISS them SOOOOO much and in just two more days my son can join me in the Cruise Countdown!!

Do you have any ideas on how to get a photo with everyone in it? On the last cruise, one of the DADS, took the photo which meant he wasn't in the shot. Can a CM be asked?
