Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

Hello everyone!

We are also booked on this Sept 11 Dream Cruise! This will be our families second time on the Dream:cool1: and we are very excited to be coming back!

We will be traveling with our best friends and thier almost 2 year old - it will be their 1st cruise ever... so we are excited to share the Disney experience with them!

We would love to be apart of the FE and I am hoping to get our friends in on the fun too ;)

Very excited!

I too would like to :welcome::welcome::welcome: you to our group. How lucky to be sailing again on the Dream!!! Like JustTJ said please tell us all about your cruise on the Dream.:thumbsup2

Am I the only one:confused3...................or do the rest of you feel this way too. Up until now the time for our cruise has been moving right along................now all of a sudden it seems as if time has STOPPED!!! I know I don't want to wish my life away................but September can't get here soon enough!!!!:banana::banana:

I think I saw a few people asking about what is a FE... so here is a post I created when I was the person in charge of the FE's for another Disney Cruise :goodvibes

What is a FE? It is a “Fish Extender” meaning a pocket of some type that hangs from your Disney Cruise Line “fish” outside your door, where Cast Members leave your confirmations and such.

This is a fun game started by a group of travelers to make the Cruising experience just a little bit more FUN. It is sort of like a Secret Santa… you will get a final listing prior to cruising (about 15 days prior) of who all is participating, so you can leave little “gifts” or “goodies” in others FE’s. You can do as many or as few as you like, there is NO rules or guidelines, it is meant to be fun for all and not to cause worry or stress – we are all on vacation – good times only!!

Ideas of other peoples gifts for suggestions and ideas: something to represent your state/country, favorite snack food, cruise themed items (beach balls, sunglasses..), pencils. It is just meant to be a fun little surprise when you get back to your rooms, not a huge investment of money! REMEMBER FUN!

Where do I get a FE? Many people have purchased theirs from Ebay or you can make your own. This is completely up to you.

How do I participate in a FE? You just notify the person in charge of the FE's for your trip and they will happily add you to the list. Then typically about 2-4 weeks prior to the cruise, you will be emailed or a updated list posted for your records.

Welcome, nikicares!!:thumbsup2 How awesome that you'll be cruising on the Dream for a 2nd time...I'm very envious!!:rolleyes1 Seriously, it's nice to have someone who's already experienced it!

Last night, the DH and I were able to sit down with my nephew and talk about which shore excursions he's like to do. Of course he picked some of the most expensive ones...LOL!:scared1: Seriously though, we want to make this cruise as much about him as possible, so we're going to TRY and give him what he wants. In Nassau, he liked the Atlantis Aquaventure, so that's the plan for now. He wasn't dead set on that one, so it could always change. For Castaway Cay, he wants to do the fishing excursion. He's always wanted to go deep sea fishing, and has never been able to, so this will be a great time for him to experience a bit of that.

Talking about all this had gotten me really excited!!!:dance3::banana:The days are ticking away!!:woohoo:

Hi all! :welcome: to all the newbies!

I just wanted to check in here, I've been pretty busy now that I'm back to work. Me and future hubby are thinking about changing to a Castaway Cay wedding now. We don't like that there is no outdoor location on the Dream yet. What does everyone else think? Our only concern is we don't want to loose too much of our day on CC. Well off to work again. Hope everyone has a nice day!

I hope all are having a great week so far.

Well, Shannon1984 personally I would go for the Castaway Cay wedding. To get married on the beach sounds great. My only concern is - what if it would rain. Is there somewhere under cover that the ceremony could take place if the weather does not cooperate. Just something to think about. So my vote................we are voting aren't we:confused3...............would be Castaway Cay. (Also, how about wearing your bathing suits under your wedding clothes??!!!! Too tacky!!!):confused3 :lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I got married on the beach in Jamaica and LOVED that we had our bare feet in the sand :) My vote is Castaway!

Thank you so much for your opinions. I needed to hear it from someone else. Now I hope it's still available. Called the wedding coordinator today.

Well fellow cruisers, it seems we will be changing our sail date. Which I'm so bummed about after chatting with everyone, planning the FE, and having the sail date much closer. ;-(

It seems my nephew has set his wedding date for Sep 3, in LA. The t would only give us 4 days between trips & with my health issues, that is just not possible. So here is our new plan. Go to LA & the wedding, take advantage of Disneyland & other sightseeing while we are there! We will be moving our Dream ressie to either Jan or Feb 2012.

Any thoughts on which month would be better weather wise? I know it will be warm to us either way coming from a cold Chicago winter!!

Oh, I've been off the boards for so long because I have been in the hospital 2 times in the last 3 weeks, ending up with major surgery. Just now catching up on my "fun" stuff like the Dis boards! I still have 6 weeks of recovery so I'll be around! Peace!!

I am sooo sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well! I wish you the best in health, as I have a very rare bone condition, so I understand and have a soft heart when it comes to medical issues. All the best to being back to great health!

I am also very sorry to hear that we are losing you on this cruise:sad2: But I can assure you that as along as you are still going to be on a Disney Cruise it is always worth the wait!

Please stay in touch with us on this board too! You will be missed!

So sorry to hear you will be changing your sail date, and won't be able to sail with us.:sad1: Like nikicares said we will miss you. But you will be able to see Disneyland!!!:cool1: DW and I have never made it out there - YET! We will one of these days. But you are still going on a Disney Cruise, so hang in there, it will still be alot of fun. And, again we all will miss you.

Also, sorry to hear you have been under the weather here lately. And, glad to hear you are on the road to be getting well again.:thumbsup2:cool1: Please keep checking in on us and let us know how you are doing.:thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your health scare. Please take care of yourself. Wish you could cruise with us but your health is more important. Sounds like you will still have a nice vacation and get still get to cruise the Dream before too long.:thumbsup2

Tessa, I am sorry to hear about you not being on our cruise and your medical issues. But it is exciting that you are getting to go to Disneyland and then a cruise a few months later! I pray that your health is wonderful so you can enjoy both trips to the max!

Welcome Rakowitz family to our cruise thread. How exciting to be going on your second Dream cruise!

I am excited to have our plane tickets purchased and our condo reserved.

:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay:We are getting closer!

I hope your recovery goes well & quickly for you. I've cruised in January and it was cool and windy on our trip. We pulled out the shorts and swim suits for Castaway Cay. The water was too cold for me, but the kids dove right in. I just especially remember the wind in the late afternoons and evenings, but like you said it will feel warm coming from Chicago.

Enjoy your trip to DL, I'm anxious to get back there as I feel more relaxed at DL than at WDW, I don't feel as rushed.

This will be our first Disney cruise! Time cannot go by fast enough. I do have a question about the fish extender groups. How many people are typically in each group?

:welcome: !! I totally agree with your sentiments!

This particular cruise makes it our 3rd FE exchange that we have/are participating in. The number of people depend largely on the length of the cruise and the number of Disers that visit the meets board. On our 4 night cruise in 2009, there were a total of 10 Families participating. On our 7 night cruise last fall, there were about 42 families participating. So far, for THIS cruise, there are 11 families involved, and that number is still growing. I doubt it will get past 20, but only time will tell.

Seems I've had some catching up to do on this board!

DAVID, so sorry to hear about your cat. Pets bring us so much added joy, don't they? I've been enjoying watching the antics of our new cat. He is starting to recognize his name now, Mr. Shnuggles, although my DH keeps calling him Mr. CAT. My 7yr old plays with the cat a lot, and was/is getting Major scratches on his face, arms and hands from this cat. I couldn't understand it because this cat for the rest of us is SOOOOOO gentle, and gently playful when using his claws or teeth to try and catch your hand or arm as you play "Catch the mouse" with him. Well, the other day, I WATCHED Tim at play with Shnuggles. Tim crawls around the cat, Panting like a dog. It's this panting that makes the cat goe CRAZY!!!! I'll try and video it the next time as it is really CRAZY. Maybe you can help me figure out why the cat reacts this way to that sound. He starts our by rollinig into a ball and attacking himself with his paws, then rolls over and stalks my son, and as my son gets up to get out of the way, the cat litterally lunges at him claws and teeth ready to latch and grab and do damage! Next came my stupid move. I decided to see if it was just my son the cat was reacting to or the sound itself. So I started panting LOL, and man oh man, that cat did the same thing!!! He crouched then lunged at me. I put my hand up in defence, and got a nasty scratch on my hand. The cat settles immediately once the paning stops and I grab hold of him and cuddle him, he becomes all gentle again. Now we are verging on calling him PSYCHO Cat.

TESSASMOM, so sorry to see you leave our ship. Sounds though like you will still have a great vacation. I send well wishes to you in your recovery from recent surgery. Take care :thumbsup2

Welcome Karebear!
This is my first cruise also! The time for you will go by fast.. It has been for me I was counting from 517 days when we booked and now its 163 days! Piece of cake now:banana:

tessasmom..hope your recovery from surgery isn't to long! and your feeling better each day!

nikkicares..welcome to your family too! Nice to see our group is growing here as we get closer!

Suppose to be 70 here on Monday! Am really looking forward to the warm weather!

Shannon..were you able to book Castaway Cay for the wedding?

Hope everyone is have a nice day! Take care....

So the tough thing about planning a honeymoon for right after the wedding is making sure the travel arrangements all work out. Luckily for me, I'm kind of obsessive about it, and I happened to log into our airline's website the other day to find that our flight had been moved forward over eight hours, and now instead of being a red-eye getting us to Orlando before 8AM, it was leaving the next day and not getting in until 5PM.

Needless to say, I freaked out. :scared1:

Had much haranguing to do over the next couple of days, but we finally managed to get a direct red-eye flight to Miami, with a puddle-jumper jet to Orlando. Getting in four hours later than I'd like, but it's workable.

But seriously, apparently the airlines can reschedule and cancel flights and not even bother notifying you until 60 days before. They do this because they apparently reschedule stuff all the time and don't want to have to keep calling people. Why even bother making the flights available to purchase, then!? :headache:

So far, the flight coming home hasn't moved, and it's not as big a deal anyway. But the flight going down there is the one where we're on a tight timetable, and that had to be the flight they'd go and screw up for us. Praying that's the end of these hassles.

JustTJ are you keeping the FE list? If so then I will not worry about it, but I thought I was doing it? Just wanted to make sure we were not overlapping and I dont want to be pushy and take it over if you have started it :confused3, just wanted to make sure it was available to those who wanted to participate:cheer2:

On the Maiden Voyage of the Dream we had over 94 rooms in our FE! And that was my 1st one so I can not even begin to judge about how many... sorry.

So far I have the following people signed up for the FE:

nikicares
princesskenziesmom
flybone89
quicklabs
eeyorer'sthebest
Donald Quackers
mjmahnke
disneyjkj
kehonuamemano
disfunfor3
wendy&grumpy

Are you by chance doing a B2B and in charge of the FE for the other portion? I don't mind some help, but the people you have listed above, are to my knowledge, not on this particular cruise.
I know I've been having plenty of fuzzy Brain moments lately, but I don't think this is one of them :)
I really did like the post you had made on the explanation of what an FE exchange is, and quoted it into the 2nd half of my B2B cruise when someone there asked "What is an FE". Great info for newbies! :thumbsup2
