I've never thought about buying bedding in Florida, where do you get yours from? I agree SuperKing is so expensive over here!

It can be the likes of Walmart or Super Target. I usually get the complete bedding sets. Comforters & Pillowcases.
There's also TJ Maxx, Ross and Bed, Bath and Beyond (I think;))

The best thing is to take some of the vac pac bags and this squishes em down nicely:thumbsup2

WOWSERS! This thread has totally picked up in speed!!! I have homework to do now!!

I'm going to print the welcome wagon and show Curt so he can have input. (Or at least think he does...) Most times when we embark on a cruise, he can name maybe half the ports we are going to. And that includes the embarkation port!

I need to figure out what each activity is (hence following the links) and also if kiddos our ages do lanyards, pins, etc. I guess the pins are a great keepsake though. We definitely purchase a magnet from each place we visit.

Looking forward to catching up! :)
That's what a cruise is also for; not needing to know or do anything and still have a blast. Curt sounds like he's picked out the vacation that fits him. ;)

Hi Everyone -

We are still planning on doing this cruise as well as the Med cruise right before. We are not sure that my in-laws will join us though. I would really like to participate in all of the fun things like the FE, Secret Mickey and Candy swap. I am not quite sure though how to account for the people who will be in our room and I can not book the cruise until I know who will be in our rom. My husband and I are in the process of adopting through the foster care program and have not been matched with the kids yet. We hope it will happen soon, but until then, this cruise is in limbo. Would it be possible to sign up for these activities and adjust the info as we get closer to the cruise?

Welcome aboard! :cheer2: Exciting awaiting the adoption news. I think adding a child to your reservation shouldn't be a problem as there are a lot fewer kids on these cruises anyway, so not a huge chance of the kidsclubs already being full. Are you sure yet about how much cabin/cabins you would need eventhough you don't know the total lay out of the group yet? In that case you could consider booking the cabin(s) already, put names of those you know are going as the lead guest per cabin and later on adjust names of the adults as you know who's coming along and who isn't. That way you could lock in your price now.

As far as the candyexchange goes, I'ld say no problem at all signing up now and changing if it has changed later on. It's not like we're at the stage of rounding up things for a long time to come yet. Others participating feel free to chime in here, but I was thinking about making up the group(s) about a month before our embarkation date. This way each participating has enough time to go and get their candy and know how many people, adults and kids are involved.

Hi everyone! Looks like you all had a busy day yesterday! :lmao:

I wasn't well yesterday & wasn't online much so I missed the start of the thread & looks like i've missed out taking on some of the organsing for the FE's, Secret Mickeys etc that I said i'd like to help with.

I guess I need to catch up on the 8 pages quickly & see what else I missed.

We can find you enough to organise if you want to. :thumbsup2 Don't think there has been any sentiment about doing a cabintour or not and if you're like "hmm, like to do that one", but enough other fun things have been mentioned also that I'm sure could need a hand in organising.

Hopefully it was just one of those 24-hour bugs you had?

Just learned that the friend I did our first DCL cruise with, also has her second cruise booked. Not DCL, she's doing a Scandinavian cruise. Amazing itinerary also. HAL departs from the Netherlands so I'm putting some things in place to hopefully surprise her and wave byebye to her, family and ship. Rotterdams port is great for getting close to the ships, would love to see the ship if even just from the port, like surprising her and sharing our love for cruising we discovered at the same moment (and same cruise :rotfl:) and could combine it with visiting some other friends. Fingers crossed it'll al work out.

Looks like no Dream-watching-trip, here. The Amsterdam rumours weren't totally true, comes down to the CM's flying into Amsterdam Airport and than being transported to the Eemshaven where the Dream is already been since monday. Dad has been following it on the fishing radar all week already, yelling "if you want pics, just say so and I'll contact ships such and such, they're fishing right besides it". Eemshaven is a bit too much traveltime from here, so doubt it we'll make the trip down there between now and early december. At least I've seen some amazing pics and movies. :thumbsup2

Thanks, i'll definately be on the lookout in January as I want some new bedding. Great idea about the vac pac bags! :worship:

How about some links for hotels in Barcelona?

I know it can be quite daunting trying to find a hotel in a city you've never stayed in before.
I have never stayed in Barcelona before and have no idea of how far the port is from anywhere.
Recommendations from previous WBTA might be a good idea:)

AMEN!! Our favorite hotel is Bellagio in Vegas, and we always cringe when paying for it but know we are usually going during holidays and spending time in the room to relax and watch the fountains... and hotels for four (or apartments) are running more than we pay for Bellagio. (Unless we stay at Novotel Barcelona - but I keep reading it is far away from everything - and Renaissance Airport counts baby as a full person so we have to get two rooms there). I don't think in Barcelona it will be like Bellagio - we will be out and sightseeing - not hanging out in the room and watching sights from the room.

As of right now, we are set to stop in NYC on the way and spend two nights, then take the overnight flight into Barcelona. That was much easier finding a place to stay for four.

I think with a place like Barcelona you should think what you like doing, and if you like walking around then the centre around Las Ramblas is a great position. Even off on the side roads will only be a few minutes walk to the hustle and bustle. We loved popping out of the hotel and on to Las Ramblas, and could walk down to the Marina area which was granted a longish walk, into the Gothic Quarter and all around that area to the Zoo area. We also walked to the Grada Familia, but again that was a longish walk. We loved walking around.

If you don't walk much and will be taking public transport more, then it doesn't really matter where you stay.

The hop on hop off buses all go from Placa Catalunya, at the top of Las Ramblas, though I believe you can pick them up anywhere. The department store El Cortes Inglis is there too, as it the Hard rock Cafe.

Wherever you stay you will need to take a bus, Metro or taxi to some of the tourist places.

There is nowhere you can stay where you can walk to the port, though a taxi from our hotel just up from Las Ramblas cost about 25 or so Euros to both the port of the airport. Didn't take long.

My husband & I will be on the Disney Western Transatlantic cruise in Sept. So looking forward to it!

We went on the Disney Meditteranean cruise last May and had a blast! After the cruise, we stayed in Barcelona for 2 nights at the Renaissance Airport (quite a ways from everything but the bus service was very easy to navigate). We're hoping to stay this time at Le Meridien on Las Ramblas. The port is not far at all from Las Ramblas. We had a great time just wandering around seeing the churches, Park Guell, La Sagrada Familia, the market on Las Ramblas, etc. Just be aware of "pick-pocketers"! They are very good at what they do!

We would be interested in the fish extenders, candy swap, and secret mickey santa. We did fish extenders last time and it was fun! Haven't done the candy swap and secret santa so I will have to read the earlier posts to make sure what they are.

Hope everyone has a truely magicalpixiedust: week-end!~

P.S. How do I get my Mickey time line deleted? This was for our last cruise. Thanks!

Hi Debra and welcome to our growing and excited band of cruisers!!!!

I think you have to send PM's to the people in charge of the FE's etc saying you want to join in. Their names will be on the first page somewhere together with what info they require.

There were a few on our WBTA who stayed at Le Meridian. I think it was a DCL hotel too.

I think with your old ticker you go to your User page and then to Edit Signature, and just delete the line that is the ticker.

:welcome: aboard Debra & DH.

As Maz said, go into your User CP, then Edit signature & remove the ticker link. :thumbsup2

Hi debra!
Welcome to our meet thread! I'm Karen and I'm cruising with my husband gary. This will be our third disney cruise but our first one that's been longer than a week :) can't wait!
There's a lot of useful info on the first page, along with who to PM for the various exchanges and swaps.
Looking forward to getting to know you more as we go along!

Your stop over sounds great:) One day we'll get to NYC.

Welcome Debra & DH thanks for the info too.

A question for those that done the previous WBTA. What happens on Villains night? Do you dress up, if so what did you wear?

People did dress up for villains night. Some ladies wore lovely purple evening dresses, some just a purple t shirt/top as part of normal wear, most were in between, or not themed at all!! Some dressed actually as villains. Cruella, Queen of Hearts etc.

There was mask making during the day and people wore the ones they had made there. Others brought masks onboard. I think there was something in the Atrium during the evening, but we didn't get there. Not sure if it was a masked ball or something. Noel might know.

Busy weekend for us so a quick drive by post. Some of us either wore villains costumes or purple or purple/black combo outfits. Some like us also wore masks. You can check on my FB page for picks.
