but I really don't like the idea of imposing too many "rules" on this. I'd rather let people do it when it's convenient for them, rather than assigning days.

i'm all up for keeping it fun and not imposing too many rules. i think assigned times can work for some people, but i'm in the minority/majority (not sure which!) that hasnt got a clue what i plan on doing on any specific day, so i'm all up for keeping it to "deliver when you want to"

DH & I have tried on every cruise to see dolphins and whales and we have never seen one. Does anyone know when the best time to see them? I hope we will be able to see some on the tour.

We were fortunate last year to see Whales :3dglasses while on the Med cruise. We saw them on the Sea Day from Nice, France to Barcelona, Spain...there were 3 whales. It was amazing! They were visible sporadically for about 2 hours. popcorn:: So, the answer to your question is - if you are in the right place at the right time you will see them ::yes:: ...they are definitely out there!

when leaving port canaveral, we've seen dolphins both times swimming alongside the ship as it pulls out of port :)

SW did you see my post regarding the rules having changed now for buying resale?
If you do you do not get the same perks as if you were buying direct from Disney. You will only be able to use the points for staying at WDW. It's only a couple of posts back.

Might be worth considering.

Oh that's what I meant by my post too, maybe I got lost along the way

if you're planning to use your points for only staying at a DVC resort at WDW every other year or so, consider the option of a resale.

If you think you're likely to want to use you points for other activites such as cruises, adventures by Disney, partner hotels ... Then buying direct from Disney is certainly more flexable!

However, of course you almost certainly get better value to rent your points, via the boards, and use the money to buy the other activities direct....

It's all about doing your sums and working out what works for your circumstances

In our group, there were 9 families (cabins). Each family delivered their FE gifts one night during the week. The lady in charge of our FE made a roster of which night each family would deliver their FE's. So you got one gift/gifts each night from just one family.

Hope this explains it....sounds like I'm repeating myself! :) It was exciting to come come back late at night and see your gifts waiting for you!

That makes perfect sense, thanks Deb. I just didn't get it earlier. ;)

I think 20 is a good number, too.

We can do it this way, but I really don't like the idea of imposing too many "rules" on this. I'd rather let people do it when it's convenient for them, rather than assigning days. On our last trip, some people gave a little thing more than once (we left something every day, but again, only a 4-nighter), and some did it just once.

I'd also prefer to leave the one-gift-per-cabin vs. one-gift-per-person up to the individuals. Again, I don't like to tell everyone how they have to do it. Sorry, I'm not very "rules" oriented when it comes to something that's supposed to be fun and creative.

But that's just MHO. We can always vote and see what the majority wants.

Sounds great to me. :thumbsup2

Fish extenders

It seems like 25 is the perfect number of Staterooms for the Fish Extender it exchange, in my opinion. You have just the right number of gifts to deliver and you're more than likely to receive something in your own Fish Extender every day of the cruise.

Of course it's also important to remember the restrictions on luggage for those passengers flying from America with at least two weeks worth of clothes, it doesn't allow much free space for gifts. I believe that was the real deciding factor factor on last years WBTA.

Of course for guest who would like to deliver, or receive, more than 25 gifts there is always the option of being in more than just one group. I know last year several cruisers choose to be listed in multiple groups meaning their deliveries were doubled, as where the gifts they received.

I'm not sure there is really a best time, as in morning or afternoon etc just the right place at the right time so to speak. I don't think there are any opportunities for Whale Watching tours on our cruise, but that's not to say you won't get lucky and see some. :wizard:

The Dolphin Safari that Sarah (totallyangelic) is organising in Gibraltar will be you best option to see Dolphins. :)

Thanks;)

I think if you have a look in the adult only pool at 3pm most days I think you'll have a good chance of seeing some whale action ;) :rotfl2: :scared1:

Just taking things easy now. Still dreaming about the cruise....at least that's free :rotfl:

I think i would prefer smaller groups for FE. Especially with luggage allowance and costs :thumbsup2

Thanks...we always seem to miss them..but hopefully not this time.;)

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm not a creative person but I think I will have a go at the magnets :thumbsup2

Good idea about us turning up after 1pm. Paris struggles in any queue but the fact she will be VERY excited and this will be a surprise holiday, she well may find it a bit overwhelming.

We normally do twilight check-in when going to Orlando and she struggles even doing that, i.e running all over the place, hitting her brother etc.

Actually, thinking about it now I might have to tell her

Damn!

She's very good at keeping secrets though:laughing:

FE how much does a person spend?

thats the beauty of the FE, you can choose to spend as little or as much as you like. there's no set rules, no set budgets. its good to keep in mind that its just a bit of fun and not to take it too seriously

you never know, we might run some over on the way into port canaveral!! :rotfl:

Exactly! :thumbsup2 (Of course, if I win the lotto, everyone just might get something from Tiffany's! :rotfl:)

Oh, don't say that!! Next to flamingos, dolphins are my favorite critters! (Dogs, of course, are people, not animals.)

We've seen dolphins both times leaving Port Canaveral. Dennis is good at spotting them.

was just having a look at one of the other cruise threads that a woman from work is on, lynne, are you doing the aug 27th cruise too? if so, sounds like you're going to have an awesome trip!
