*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

Hopefully this is a little bright news for you cabana peeps! USAtoday says "The storm also closed Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Cay, but damage was minimal. Dream will change its itinerary, rescheduling a Tuesday stop until Wednesday, giving crews an extra day to freshen up the popular call."

Whether the journalist is referring to the statement put out by DCL in previous reports, or this is new news, it is unclear... but still happy!

I'll be glad if only a 'freshen up' to CC is required.

It's going to take more than a refresh to renovate some parts of this area. The Mohawk River was broaching the road when I went down this morning. By the time I came back, it was up high enough for the road to be closed. The Schoharie valley is far worse.

Hi, Lauren:
We are arriving on September 9th at 7:35 a.m. on Air Canada. Our hotel is the Hilton Diagonal Mar.
Thanks, Connie & Dan Graves

Definitely, I like it because I can drink it with coke. I am usually a G&T kind of girl, but buying 2 weeks worth of tonic water from Morrisons and carrying it to the ship might be a bit of a chore, so I stick with a drink that I can use coke :thumbsup2

I'm not a hard liquor person and can't drink vodka or the like (unless it is in the cocktail of the day and very disguised lol) but spicy is very sweet and easy to drink, I think you may like it :lovestruc

I'm sure i'll like it. :lmao: I'll drink anything other than red wine/port. :thumbsup2

My plan for G&T's is same as last year. Pimms in the can from Morrisons!!

I've had those Pimms in a can but it's not quite the same, hence me packing a litre bottle and a jug. :rotfl2:

That is good news. :dance3:

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I've never tried that, you'll have to give your neighbour a little taster. ;) :flower3:

If you are planing to buy alcohol at the duty free shop on the Magic, just remember they will not give it to you until the night before we doc in Cape Canaveral. Be sure you buy it off the ship and bring it on if you plan to drink it during the cruise. Disney does not limit how much booze you can bring on.

I'll bet money the Princess Tea on that date too. Which is the most important to me. Can't let my Fairy Goddaughter down.

The Princess Tea Party is usually on 2 or 3 different days, depends on which one you are invited to attend.

This Fairy God Mother really loves her little Princess's... can't wait to see them all prettied up!

Ok i'll start with some good news.....

My contact at DCL has got back to me to confirm that Sessions will definitely be closed to everyone else for the duration of our Champagne Girls event. :cool1:

Now the next bit of news isn't quite so good......BUT remember i'm just the messenger so don't shoot me! ;)

I am collecting names & room #'s for the Champagne Girls so I asked my contact what information she needs for those that still have a GTY status and her reply was those that have GTY at this late stage are unlikely to get a cabin number until they check in at the port. :guilty: I know some of you had kind of assumed that anyway but for those that were still hoping, it really doesn't seem too promising.....Sorry. :sad1:

I guess we need to come up with an efficient way of collecting & circulating these cabin numbers asap. Maybe it would be an idea to have a separate list of those that are taking part in the FE, Secret Mickey, Scrapbook Exchange & the Candy Swap. I am willing to keep the list. People can notify me at either in the Port, 3pm Promenade Lounge meet, Deck 10 Sailaway gathering, write it on my white board room 6507 or call my room & leave a message. Providing everyone notifies me on the first day, I will make sure that all the missing cabin #'s are on my whiteboard for everyone to see from the next day onwards, so you can just stop by and make a note of the one's you need at a time convenient to you.

How does this sound??? If everyone agrees then I suggest all those that are still GTY please PM me and i'll get the list started.

Noel,

I googled Pimm's to see what you're talking about. Looks like the recipe calls for Pimm's and then adding lemonade or ginger ale. Is the "Pimms in a can" a pre-mixed drink, or do you need a mixer to enjoy it?

I am a fan of gin & tonic (with decent gin), most mixed drinks and most wines. Everyone told me I'd learn to like beer as I got older...still waiting...I think it is a bit late to start now! I also never learned to like coffee, but I love tea, either hot or iced.

I'm almost afraid to ask: Any word on the lanyards?

If you could see my the alcohol i've already packed & my shopping lists for Barcelona, Gibraltar & St Maarten then you would have no fear that I will be buying it onboard & having them keep it from me! :rotfl2: Just let them try! pirate:

Have just had a thought and needed some advice. I had my hair cut quite short and have just been wondering what to do with it on formal nights to look vaguely girly (ish). I know in the salon you can make appointments for hair preening!!!! But is this something to do as soon as you board to secure an appointment???

Don't usually have to think of such girly things but needs must!!

Annemarie

My daughter in law has short hair and wears these kinds of things in her hair at the few formal things she goes to as she isn't too happy in sparkly things either. I think they have other names than spirals but I couldn't think of them. I bet Claires have them

http://www.weddingbitz.com/twist_in_spirals.htm

I have some of those and they are lots of fun, and I bought them at Claires. They have lots of options for hair accessories .. even fake hair if you'd like to add a ponytail :)

What's on the TOP TEN list of things you DON'T want to hear right before a vacation??

DH asked me this morning, "Honey, what did your APPENDICITIS feel like?"

Please send some fairy dust this way as we wait to see what progresses. . .

Also sending well wishes to little Harley and, oh Margaret--you have cracked me up this morning picturing you with dresses bunched up on a little kitchen scale!

I hope that's not the case. I had a scare a few weeks back with a pain in my right side, it turned out that I had pulled a muscle doing some sit ups.

Sounds good to me ... thanks for taking the time to keep a list for us Claire, you're such a sweetie

Is this as good as the real thing? I was just introduced to Pimm's last year and it is now my drink of choice! Does Disney not carry it, or is this more convenient? Does Disney serve Sprite type soda as well as Coke? Of course cucumber and fruit add to the level of satisfaction after they've soaked up all that liquor. Woo-Hoo!

Grrrrr....:headache: I was really hoping to leave complete information at home with friends & family before we left - that includes a Stateroom Number! :headache:

Oh well, I guess it'll just be a nice surprise when we get there! :flower3:

Whatever is easiest for you - the old lady just felt better having them in hand. The LESS I have to stress over at the last minute, the better!

hope you have a nice, quiet, HEALTHY, upcoming week, Mandy!

We normally get ours as we arrive whereever we are. This way at least with HSBC, we get the best rate when we need them.

What ever made me think it was a good idea to take DS for some motorway practice on a public holiday. Came home and just had to go to bed for a nap, and to cap it all, managed not to buy anything at the outlet centre but a packet of prunes !!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
DS decided to a have a sissy fit, after ignoring my advice and pulling out, then not being able to get back over for his exit!!.... then he managed to wedge the car sideways in the exit ramp of a multi-story car park…:scared1::scared1: but then he passed his test and he knows it all now. Was hoping he would give us a lift to London city airport next week, but not sure my nerves will be able to handle it, so the train it is.
Maybe it was a sign I should have stayed home and completed my packing !! Sorry rant over !!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:
Thanks for all your comments, think I may just chill for the evening… tomorrows another day, it's funny really when I got up this morning I felt it would be a productive day..... how wrong could I have been... so am just going to get productive with a glass of wine !!

Have fun Margaret :lmao: it's very difficult :headache: to resist.

I went to M&S on Saturday to buy one last small item I needed and came home with 3 more dresses :rotfl2: now have to completely re-think my packing list :confused3

Mind you, I do have all the dresses in, chargers, some toiletries and the bottle of Baileys and it's at 13 kg, so I have 10 kg to go.... fingers crossed :scared1:

Wish I could manage that one, at that rate I'm sure you could a few more things to your packing list :laughing: Had no such luck in M&S today could not find a single thing to buy:sad1:

josh that's great news, one less thing to stress over:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Sorry still trying to catch up since I haven't had much time in the past couple of days. Our update is that we are now flying to Cincinati to Paris and catching a train to Barcelona. I looked at Expedia and saw the cheapest flight from Paris to Barcelona was $324 which is more expensive then the train. It will be a neat experience on the train though I think. Never really traveled by train unless you count around the Magic Kingdom:lmao:

Our DH's are a bit disappointed that we told them there was not enough time to go to DLP until we reminded them that we are going to be in PARIS!!! The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Truimph, etc. How can you go wrong with that? We were looking at the Paris pass. Does anyone have any experience with that?

My DH is designing an awesome magnet. Hopefully he will get it done in time for the cruise. If he gets it done before we leave I will make sure to post it.

They definitely have free weights, but they might also have this machine b/c there are several machines in the gym..

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Good Morning All!
I've been up extra early as I fell asleep so early! Must have been that huge early dinner we had! Went to celebrate my birthday at one of my favorite restaurants in Houston

:cheer2::cheer2::bday::bday::cheer2::cheer2:Happy Birthday, glad you had alovely time, and you can celebrate again when you board the magic !!

I think someone mentioned this before, but the Eiffel Tower is AWESOME. I remember seeing picture of it for years and thinking it was pretty amazing--but nothing compares to seeing it in person. Of all the landmarks I've been fortunate enough to see, only two things far surpassed my expectations: The Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Grand Canyon in the U.S. Most of time I think "Okay, that looks like I thought it would"--but these two things are worth any amount of trouble to see.

If you are willing to be the keeper of the GTY homeless that would be great. We could still get them one week out, at least that tends to be our experience with GTY, but Disney may wait until we get to port. We will find a way to get it to you day 1, but hopefully sooner!

We used the Paris pass (I'm assuming you mean the Paris Museum pass). We purchased it at the airport right near luggage claim I think. Get to Notre Dame early if you plan to climb the tower. That was our favorite place! :lovestruc We stayed at a hotel nearby and this was also close to Austerlitz train station (the one you need to get to Barcelona). Did you look at the seat61 website I mentioned earlier? You will pay alot less there for your train tickets. We paid for our tickets on line, then just picked them up at the train station. Easy peasy. The french web site is all in french, but the seat61 site will walk you thru it. They have quad sleepers that are pretty inexpensive. Not sure how many are traveling with you. If you want, PM me and I'll be glad to answer any questions if I can! :goodvibes

For those taking the Santa Maria tour in Madeira ... did you receive a confirmation email of your booking? I sent mine over a week ago and still haven't heard from them. I'm worried that maybe it got sent to spam or we're really not booked with them as they didn't ask for a credit card.
