*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

yeah, i'll be staying on the ship if they dock at nassau

Yes! Sorry, St. Maarten!

Thanks for all the well-wishes! :goodvibes I think he is feeling pretty good today (ie... meds LOL!) but he and his dad took the girls to a park. Kansas City is having such lovely weather this morning! It's about 20 degrees cooler than back home with less humidity as well.

After flying and navigating the airport yesterday by myself with the girls, I am re-thinking bringing the stroller. I think we will... we are bringing Em's carseat since she has her own seat on the flights, and the stroller just helps transport it since it snaps in. If my 40-pound daughter can pull the 50-pound roller bag, we will be all set. :thumbsup2 (Just kidding... kinda...) My other checked bag will be a backpacking backpack (so I am hands free) and a garment bag.

THanks, AManda! He had mentioned ATM. And I had also read that about the small bills for the aerobus.

St Maarten, not St Thomas, right? ;) Our half-anniversary is Pirate Night. We have celebrated a couple anniversaries on cruises, but never a half. :)

I have wondered about that as well. We are really hoping to see Castaway Cay for the first time. If not, we'll go with the flow. But if any DCL folks are lurking on this thread... if CC is cancelled, please substitute St Thomas on 9/22 the day after Tortola so I can take my family back to our "I Do" spot on St John! Love returning there!! Can still make it to PC for 9/24 disembarkation. Just a subtle hint though.... ;) Love love love St John. :lovestruc I can't recall the last time we actually spent time on St Thomas - always head straight over to St John.

I'm so happy that Irene hit this weekend instead of next weekend. So many of us will have had our best-laid plans completely scrambled. Flying into NY will be crazy for the next few days, as the airlines play "catch up". Next Saturday, my DM/DN will be flying into PHL, which has also been closed due to weather. Of course, by next week, the airlines will have their acts together and life will go on (NO MORE HURRICANES UNLESS THEY'RE IN A PRETTY GLASS! :thumbsup2).

Yes it sounds like JFK came out pretty much unscathed which is a relief.
The NHC has another storm (Jose) out near Bermuda but it is supposed to fizzle out in the next day or so. There is a wave coming off of Africa right not which is organizing and is expected to intensify so we'll see what happens with that one. Hopefully it'll take its sweet time going anywhere to allow all of us to get to BCN before it starts causing any trouble!

Everyone has their own comfort level; mine is dependent on pre-planning (and planning and more planning :thumbsup2). I'm starting to have anxiety issues as the countdown continues!:rotfl2::confused3:scared:

I'm kind of the same way - anxiety rises as it gets closer - so many what ifs! :) Jeremy lets it roll off his back and lets me do the worrying for the both of us. :lmao:

Enjoy - we are having BEAUTIFUL weather here this morning. It's somewhat cool and the humidity is low. :thumbsup2 It is supposed to get hot again this week they said, but it *is* summer in STL after all...

i'm the same as you mandy, i can't stand the taste of wine and champagne, but will join you in looking through the door!

I will join Mandy and Karentan in peeking in on the Champagne Girls ! I can't wait to see the pink boas--what fun :cutie:

I've decided to join Pub Crawl (if I can) but do I need to sign up or can I just show up and tag along? DH and I just can't resist trying some new tipples, lol!

Did you happen to see the dust storm on TV today from PHoenix? I think that is the fourth one recently, and those things cause issues with airlines, too.
I can't even imagine the clean-up after those storms (the dust must be in every nook and cranny). At least with rain/wind, everything is washed for you! :lmao:

my twisted sense of humour at work.....

also couldnt resist printing these two:
These are absolutely hysterical!:rotfl2:(esp. the first one)

DD is flying from Austin to Atlanta Thursday, then to PA the following Tuesday. As long as DM/DN can get to Philly Sat. and DD can also get home, bringing us all together, we can manage whatever happens after that. DD can take care of herself, but DM/DN (special needs) are NOT good at handling crises. They were worried about a lay-over, which is why they're flying direct into PHL instead of making a connection to our closest airport.

Seriously, if we have to kayak our way to BCN, we will be there by the 10th! :thumbsup2

At least Larry shares my anxiety...he's good that way...:lovestruc. In general, I'm usually the one who lets things roll off my back and he's the one who worries, but for this trip, we're sharing the angst  and suffering together. It's the little things that keep me up at night. I think Jeremy has the right idea!

Karen, don't laugh, but I can't do beer either. Now anything with Malibu and I'm game! I'm a mixed (and/or frozen) drink type of gal. :thumbsup2

Thank you, Linda! I'm never one to be sick, so I am glad that is done with. That hit last weekend. Super glad we went ahead and took care of that stone, too.

Mandy.....I also am a mixed (and/or frozen) drink kind of gal.....that's how I roll! :goodvibes

I just have to share.... Curt and his mom are down in the basement going through old memorabilia in various boxes. He came across two Disneyland shirts from his early years, a Donald and a Mickey. Both are ringer tees. I think that since he can't wear them, they look like they may fit Sarah, so I am going to have her wear the MIckey ringer on our DIS Mickey Club House night! (Need a little OxyClean though...) NOw... the name is not across the back, but diagonal on the front in one-inch felt iron-on letters... and of course spelled "CURT". I told Sarah "how cool is that" to wear a shirt and be able to point to your Daddy's name to let others know it was his about 30 years ago! :thumbsup2 Completely vintage. :)

Ohhhh! That's AWEsome! Maybe get her name on it too? And put it away carefully until 20 years from now when Sarah's little one can wear it?

Rain is petering out, wind is slowly abating. lots of trees down in the area, roads flooded, dams in danger of being topped. Much worse in the hill towns than here. Breathing a BIG sigh of relief!

I'm so glad you are getting to breathe a sigh of relief! Whew! A friend of our's is moving to FL from CT on September 6... curious how things are going for him today.

And YES - what a MARVELOUS idea with the names! :yay: I will have to tell him when he gets back upstairs! He had me pack the roller bag (instead of a normal backpack) because he figured we would be bringing some toys back home with us. ALL of his Disney books are in Sarah's bedroom at home, mostly from 1973, as well as some of his toys. No telling what we will be going home with in the morning....

Hey, I'm game for however the majority wants to do it. I look at it as a challenge.......Pub Crawl from 1:00 - 2:45, stagger to the room to put my "Champagne Girls" princess pinks on, go to Champagne Girls event from 3:00 - 4:30.....stumble back to the room to put my Pub Crawl clothes back on til 5:00.......slosh back to the room to get ready for dinner at 6:00 pm.....all this in about 5 hrs! Now if I fall forward into my food, please kindly lean me back and let me sleep it off!

All kidding aside.....it doesn't matter if they are both on the same day. We'll do what we can and have a great time doing it!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::thumbsup2

That's too bad.

Okay, it's just under 4 weeks til we get there. Who thinks they'll have CC back together by then? I think there's a good chance, as long as no other storms hit.

Fingers and toes crossed that they work that old Disney magic and have CC ready in record time. I know, I'm just being selfish here, but I love CC!

Let's keep our fingers crossed they get it sorted in the next month :thumbsup2 That's a lot of trips to CC that the Dream cruisers will have to miss otherwise :guilty:

For those of you familiar with British Airways, how strict are they on luggage (carry-on) dimensions? My planned bag is 2-3 inches too "tall"

Thank you!!

We fly BA quite often. I had a cabin bag suitcase last year that was slightly too big and I was really sweating every time that they would ask me to check the bag. I used it about 4 times and didn't get caught out, but I have since bought a new bag that fits the size dimensions as it was making me so anxious at the gate, that I didn't think it was worth it

DCL told me recently that the second formal night was Night 8, not Night 7. Has anyone else heard which is actually correct?

I just called DCL again, as they previously told me that it was night 7.

They have now confirmed the undernoted:-

Night 2 - Formal
Night 6 - themed night (possibly Villians?)
Night 8 - Formal
Night 11 - Pirate Night
Night 13 - Semi-formal

She said events can be subject to change, but should be final now with 2 weeks to go.

i put a text box over this photo with "getting ready for formal night..." written on it

Good one Karen :rotfl2: we love Family Guy too in our house :lovestruc

That is actually rather annoying!!!!!!!!

I guess we didn't need to move the Pub Crawl afterall then if the 2nd formal night is now on the 8th night!

I'm sure DCL are messing with us!

They're watching us on this thread!!!!!

damn you DCL - i booked palo for second formal night on purpose and now there's no reservations open for the saturday. grr......

oh and updated the calendar with the changes

So we are in Charleston picking up our luggage. Came in yesterday morning and are leaving this afternoon. So I lost some time packing... but on the bright side I found some awesome shoes that I can wear on formal night and just around the ship by changing the thing on the strap! And they're so light.
http://www.lindsay-phillips.com/jean-black-08.aspx Here they are on the website. Best thing was they were on clearance!

Those shoes are gorgeous :thumbsup2

That's what I would be afraid of. Would just stay on the ship then. Key West would be lovely though!!! :hippie:

yeah, i'll be staying on the ship if they dock at nassau

I wouldn't mind either .... I love Key West, and have never been to Nassau, but obviously would way prefer Castaway Cay. pixiedust: that they are able to carry out the necessary work before we arrive. They do have almost a month pixiedust: pixiedust:

i'd booked palo on second formal night to minimise the times i'd need to wear a dress.
now, no thanks to DCL, i have to girly up three times in one week......
