just wanted to say thanks for the kind messages everyone, sorry about the mini rant last night, its been a bad few days planning wise between the airport transfer, the SM and a couple of other things, and just felt a bit peeved off and overwhelmed last night.

but its the start of another week now, and less than 5 weeks til we cruise, so lets banana dance  :dancer:  :dancer:  :dancer:

hope you can make it.

so what was the decision then? seems to be that no-one is particularly interested in dinner, so shall we just go for a couple of drinks?

Yes drinks sounds good. We will grab bite to eat before we leave then.

Very jealous of your documents Claire. We have to wait for Virgin to forward ours to us

we've booked directly with DCL and nothing here yet. we've done all the online check in already anyway so know there's nothing in that book that we'll need apart from the luggage tags anyway

I hope they send them as fast as possible. :wizard:

Yep that's true. I read through it as it has the itinerary plus my excursions, Palo's etc then took the luggage tags out and will keep the booklet at home. :)

I've been thinking about her too, I am sure she will come back on here when she is feeling better. :wizard:

I know they are taking names for a 4th Palo Group brunch, I think Josh (giraffe104) is organizing it. :thumbsup2

We wont be able to make it, DH doesn't get in from work until 7/8pm & it's about a 90 min drive for us.

Have fun though, we'll see you all on the ship. :goodvibes

Thanks I'll try to get in touch with Josh about that Palo brunch. I LOVED it years ago! I bet it has only gotten better. Thanks!

Hi cruisingswedes! I'll put you on the list, but keep posting (5 more time... even in a row if you want) so we can start private messaging. I'll need your reservation number for you cruise and your full name. Keep up the good disboard chat!

Thanks Josh! Yum and soooo looking forward to that! We had such amazing meals at Palo before. I'll try to PM after sending a couple more posts.

Wondering if there are any bridge players out there that might be interested in getting together and playing a few non-competitive friendly hands? I can bring bidding boxes if there's any interest. I've found on other cruises that people are so used to playing with different bids and conventions - you learn something new every day! Hope there's some interest!

Thanks!

haven't got a clue how to play bridge, but i'm sure there'll be someone who does play.

about 60 seconds after reading claire's post, the fed ex van pulled up :) got my cruise docs

Thought I'd post a couple things I'd wish I'd known before we cruised from Barcelona in June. Not sure if these have been brought up before, but hopefully these will help someone - they would have helped me!

Luggage Transfer - there is a company that has a stand at the luggage carousel at the port after the cruise that will bring your bags to the airport for you. They meet you just outside the terminal. The charge was about 10euros per bag. This was a lifesaver as we had planned to actually take our bags to the airport and put them in a locker, then head back in to Barcelona for a day touring. It was so convenient and when we got to the airport the company van was waiting for us where they said they would. Saved us such a hassle!

Aquarium - there are also big lockers here that can hold small suitcases, carry-ons and duffle bags. Wish I'd also known that when trying to figure out what to do with the bags for the day!

Hop on Bus - the shuttle from/to the cruise ship is right where a Hop on Bus stop is. You can buy tickets at the stand right by the cruise terminal. They also give you a coupon book that has a discount for the Aquarium among other things.

We spent 1 night in Barcelona pre cruise, then a full day post cruise waiting for a 9PM flight in June (not DCL).

Hope that info helps someone!

Great news Karen, hope that cheered you up :)

I have to go out today - what's the betting they try to deliver while I'm out?

Last time FED EX delivered our gift cards to one of our neighbours by mistake. We didn't get them from the neighbours for ages. We never even knew they'd been delivered. No card etc.

Trying to get up to my 10 posts here so I can PM!

I forgot to mention that cabs in Barcelona charge about 2 euros extra per piece of luggage (including hand carries, strollers, big shopping bags). I had a fold up umbrella stroller that I put on my lap and my teenage daughter kept her smaller carry on on her knees and we were still charged the 2 euros for each of those pieces!

I saw a post earlier mentioning the cab fare of 15 euros from the airport to the port - yes the base is something like 15 to 20, but then they add on for every piece of luggage you have.

Just so you're aware when you get there!

My cruise booklet came via regular mail. I wonder if DCL is saving money in the continental US by not using FedEx?

Hey everyone

Been very busy last couple week with personal trainer exams and i have now qualified as a spin instructor :cool1:
Nice to see some people able to do the doc dance we also have to wait for our TA to send ours.
We managed to get 2 sideways rooms next to each other which is much better as we were abit too far apart for my liking!

Welcome to all the new cruisers and thanks Lynne for your recaps which save me hours of catching up :goodvibes
Cant believe how close this is getiing! At least now I can concentrate on cruise planning and relax a little

YAY for everyone receiving cruise docs!! We booked directly with DCL... so I will tell Curt to be on the lookout today! :thumbsup2

Regular mail... oh my... our's is deplorable in our area. My mom mailed me something last summer, only 120 miles away, and it took two WEEKS. And sometimes they will just skip our house (or street we think). It's very weird. At least we don't leave for four weeks (from today!).

Congrats on the exams!! I'm just home from boot camp, did my monthly measurements, and ugh. Two weeks in Colorado, although hiking, didn't help me much. Had the conversation on "diet". Gotta be better these next four weeks!

We have always had them straight from DCL when booking through Dreams. I think they must have an arrangement, perhaps with them having such a huge number of bookings??

I also would like to :thanks:to everyone that helped in planning all the activities and answer all of our questions regards to this trip.

Its been very busy around here hope to catch up soon. We are also still waiting for our documents

Does anyone know do they change desperate shipmates each cruise?
