Weekly Recap April 27 - May 4, 2011 - 128 days until cruise
Getting Around Barcelona
"We also used the T10 tickets. They worked well for us since we were staying in a hotel that was a little farther out from the central city area."
"DH & I used the HOHO bus when we were there last year. Since we have limited Spanish language skills, it was much more comfortable for us. We bought our tickets from the hotel concierge desk for, supposedly, a small discount. It was really easy to navigate on and off which made it nice to jump off and shop when we felt like it. I'd do it again.
Royal Wedding
steamboat will:
"Hello all
I'm super lucky to live so close to London, so when I woke up today I decided to go up and join in the wedding day festivities.
Left home at 8.30 and managed to get a spot on the The Mall, which is the main road leading to Buckingham Palace. Saw Charles, Camilla, The Queen and Kate whizz by on their way to the Abby,
And later was really lucky to get a spot close to the palace and I could see William and Kates kisses.
I feel so lucky to have been able to go and enjoy the day and wonderful atmosphere.
Now I'm sat at home watching the highlights on the BBC to see all the bits I missed"
Passporter Guide
"A random planning questions ... what do you think about Passporters? I've been thinking about picking up the 2010 Cruise one (since there's no real eta on the 2011 edition). Since this is my very first
Disney cruise I thought it might come in handy."
"We bought the 2010 Passporter. It's a TON of information!"
"I've used PassPorters for years for both WDW and
DCL. They do include a lot of info - I love them! The DCL one doesn't have much on the TA cruises, specifically, but it does tell you a lot about the ships and Disney cruises in general. ..."
"I've got a 2007 copy of the Passporter's Field Giude to DCL and its ports of call that I bought before our first cruise. It's very informative for life aboard the Disney Wonder and Magic. Although it doesn't cover all of the ports of call for the WBTA, it does provide some information on Barcelona, Gibraltar and St. Martin..."
Running
"Just wondered if there were any runners in the group?..."
"We are in training for running the 5K on
Castaway Cay, we will be the ones at the back of the group"
"Thanks for the info Karen...but I wonder if they will have it on the return trip since we have such limited time? They had it on the trip over last year at 10:30 am but we don't get there til after 11:00, do we?"
"Thanks for pointing that out to me, I had no idea we got to CC at 11:15 .. ouch .. I wonder why we dock so late. Maybe we'll get lucky and arrive early, it does say times are subject to change. Maybe I'll have a little chat with The Captain .."
The 5K is not an 'official' activity, but it is headed by a volunteer crew member. They usually post it in the Navigator the night before Castaway Cay whether that option is available, but from what I hear, it is run more often than it is not. Sometimes you get a certificate for running, sometimes not

I wish Disney would make it more official
Here's a thread from the boards on it

Wonder in San Francisco
"Went up to San Francisco today to see the Wonder off. She looked so great in port with the bridge in the background. Met up with some cool Disers and took pics and waved. The sounding of the horn was delightful..."
John took this sequence of photos as the Wonder left the Bay. Photos were taken from
Hawk Hill in the
Marin Headlands above the
Golden Gate Bridge as the Wonder was leaving the San Francisco Bay.
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP)
"I don't know if anyone is interested but MNSSHP tickets are on sale now."
"I've seen pictures of how beautifully decorated the parks are around this time and of the great pics you could have taken in front of the haunted house (with the ghosts appearing in the pics) and of Cinderella's coach!"
"Well....it's official....MNSSHP is not going on the week-end after our cruise. The next date after the cruise is on that Tuesday, Sept. 27. UGH! "
Cruise Price Decrease
"Also the price of the WBTA has dropped a little bit more..not alot, but still every little helps."
"The price we got was using the Uk residents discount code MEO which you put in the first booking screen when choosing your cruise on the DCL website.
Hopefully you have a UK TA who can re-do it for you. DCL cancelled our previous ressie, re-applied the money to the new booking and swapped our room number over."
Currency to Use on Cruise
"For those that have done this cruise before, what money did you have to exchange for each port? I know the caribbean is the US dollar but I am not sure if I should look into both Euros and Pounds and not sure about Portugal at all."
"With regard to the different ports, the currencies accepted are:-
Barcelona - euros
Gibraltar - euros and UK £
Madeira - euros
St Maarten - euros and US $
Tortola - US $
So you'll only need some US $ and euros in currency"
"Just an extra here. Gibraltar has it's own currency, the Gibraltar Pound. It is the same as the UK pound, but you don't want it as change as you can't use it anywhere else! So, ask for Euro change(or UK money), or use your card. One of us Brits will always buy some back off you if you are stuck with some(not Gibraltan though)"
Verandah-free Option
"We used deck 10 as our balcony last year to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and evenings and that was free"
"We will also be spending a lot of time on the Deck 10 balcony."
"see you up there with a lovely bottle of something cold and sparkling"
"I'll be up there too, with my glass of Champers or cocktail of the day. Cheers!"
"So let me get this right.......
We'll by dancing on Deck 6 & Drinking on Deck 10......sounds perfect!!!!!!!"
Flights After Cruise
"Can anyone tell me what time they arrived at the Orlando airport from the port when they took a Disney transfer?
We have a 1230 flight out on the 24th and I am debating a rental car or the DCL transfer--which would be faster.
Does DCL check luggage for you if you go with the transfer?"
Hi Fontabel,
Check out this link on DCL's Web site:
http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/p...air-ground-transportation-bahamian-caribbean/
It gives information on the participating US domestic airlines where you can check in onboard the ship if you book DCL transfers - just scroll down to the bottom part of the page
