Thank you so much for your input!! Now I am wondering... with our previous skin cancer battles... starboard vs port for the crossing and which way the sun is directed. :confused3 Sept 21 is the Autumn Equinox. From what I am thinking, starboard will be mostly northern facing as we go from east to west , so possibly more shaded??

We had a great covered verandah (with huge overhang from deck above) on Celebrity, so we were literally always shaded. Either way, we live with that rule of trying to avoid the sun for all of us 10-4, and our 4-year-old knows not to go outside w/o sunscreen (I often hear her saying "Daddy, did you put on sunscreen?") We will be loaded up with sunscreen, hats, and UPF rash guards for the trip! :thumbsup2

I would say starboard would be better for you with having that problem. It won't be too bad across the Atlantic as it might be cool/hurricanes etc, but in the Caribbean it will be hot, humid and sunny hopefully!!! The heat and humidity really hit us last year even though it was good weather across the Atlantic.

WOW!!! That sounds a lot! :scared1:

We are so lucky that my parents look after our two fur babies, in fact I don't think they would ever speak to us again if we left them anywhere other than with them. Thye love them to bits & spoil them something rotten. :lovestruc

Yeah, it's the most expensive place around, but it's so clean and they get so much attention it's totally worth it. They're really good at dealing with dogs with "issues," too. The owner is very picky about the people she hires, so I feel okay about leaving the "kids" there. Not great - I'm way too attached to them to feel good about leaving them behind - but I'm comfortable with this place. And they seem to love it there. They get all excited when we pull into the parking lot. I think that's a good sign.

Funnily enough after writing this I just checked and we have exactly 4 months until we board the Disney Magic ..... that seems a very short time indeed :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Four months, eh? I need to step up my exercise again. Kind of slacked off for a while. Just had my yummy healthy cereal for breakfast, now it's off to work I go!

Now that we have the Military rate, I started working out all the other bits and pieces. I thought this was funny. To board our 5 dogs for the 20 days we'll be gone is only $300 less than our total cruise fare. Okay, they don't have to tip their dinner servers and room attendants, so I guess that counts, too. I sure hope they enjoy their vacation!

We are spending over $400 on two dogs for boarding the other two go to grandparents..

luckily my mum is looking after cerby. dont think she'd let me put him into kennels anyway, she's looking forward to having some granny-doggy time!

I think that is best for us as well. I did not hit me until reading Fontabel's post this morning for some reason! Duh. Which is exactly why we booked our last verandah in that location with the overhang. Think we will stick with this cabin location and not gamble.

There won't be hurricanes this year --- they were all sent as tornadoes earlier to the southern US --- so all the wind was used up already. No hurricanes!!! :thumbsup2

Me, too! I recently switched to coconut milk, which puts a Caribbean twist on the cereal it seems. :thumbsup2 And I started a boot camp on MWF at 5:30 AM. Not losing weight so far, but clothes are fitting better! (Hopefully I am losing fat and gaining muscle!)

cant remember if this has been answered yet or not so going to ask again:

has anyone been in contact with DCL about the dining/menu nights - eg: which nights are formal night and semi formal?

I'm really trying to exercise more....been doing kickboxing and zumba.....don't know how much fat I'm burning...but by the way I'm sweating afterwards, I've got to be doing something!!!!:banana: Now, if I could do as well on the week-ends as I do during the week as far as eating right, I would be shedding the pounds! Unfortunately, it's coming off slowly! UGH! So much fun putting the weight on, hell taking it off! Maybe I could wire my mouth shut....... GA-yaya...you are in orthodonitics......how about it? :lmao::lmao:

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.....one day down towards our cruise! WAHOO! :cool1::cool1::cool1::dancer::dancer:

Jeremy's dad and stepmom are using this as an excuse to come to the midwest from California - they'll be staying at the house while we are on the cruise to look after the dog and two cats, so no boarding for us this time around!

Reminder number 8 from Dreams just arrived!:lmao: I think I might just keep this going to the very end, this time on Thursday!!!

I sent off an email to DCL to get the cancellation policy right as it is important for me.

I could see non US ports for cruises under 10 days but couldn't see over but it obviously was included in the info for US ports. I think I am daft!!!:lmao:(No, I will rephrase that, I know I am daft!!!)

Seems like it is 89 days before, not the 75 that I thought it was:rolleyes1!! Ah well. I think our deposit is $600 so I wouldn't want to lose that really.

Good Luck completing your Masters thesis! It can be really hard to see patients, do research, and get a paper completed while trying to take care of a family! Hats off to you! :worship:

It's always fun to find out there is someone traveling that works "in the same field". I am a dentist also, with my practice limited to Orthodontics. Fortunately, our patients actually like to come see us! :lmao:

Peggy- That's so fun to hear there's someone in the same field on the cruise! Did you go to school in GA? I did my dds at WVU and am getting my endo degree here as well. We'll definitely have to get together on the cruise. :goodvibes

My parents will be watching Charlie, my little guy while I'm gone. In fact, we have joint custody of the dog even when I'm in town. My father refuses to allow my dog to stay at home, alone, for more than two hours. So, every morning after his run he swings by my house and picks up his buddy for a day at "Mommy 2's."

I have PIF status :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

:dance3: YAY! :dance3:

Aww how sweet. :lovestruc

My parents are the same, they have mine if i'm out for 3 or 4 hours. They love having them so much, they really miss their dog that died ten or so years ago but due to my dad's health they just can't commit to having one of their own.

Whenever we get back from our holidays & pick the dogs up I get so sad as I know how much my parents miss them for the next week or so, my mum calls & texts several times a day to check up on them.

I was wondering the same thing

And what kind of special nights could we expect ?
Is there a Pirates In the Carribean Party during this cruise ?

Maybe some Veterans could answer ;)

Yes, we had a Pirates party once we reached the Caribbean. There was also a Villains night, so get your purple and black gear on or dress up as a villain. We will have to see if the Med cruises have this though before we plan. There was also a Prince and Princess night and quite a few ladies really dressed up to the nines. Tiaras everywhere.

Hiya

I've just been speaking to DCL so asked while I was on. She couldn't give me the menu/dining themes for the evening yet, but she did confirm the undernoted:-

Night 2 - Formal Night (Sea Day)
Night 6 - Theme Night TBC (Sea Day)
Night 7 - Formal Night (Sea Day)
Night 11 - Pirate Night (St Maarten)
Night 13 - Semi-Formal (Sea Day)

From memory, I think that's the same as last year :)

I know there was a lot of discussion about the first formal night last year and they eventually held it on Day 3, Gibraltar night. I can't remember why though. A sea day is much better.
