Separate Villa Inventory?

Does WDW maintain a separate inventory of Villas available to the public that are not available to DVC club members?

I am a non-member, and recently tried to rent points for a 9 night July/August vacation at a BWV studio. I felt reasonably certain of their availability, since in checking the WDW website, the BWV studios were (and still are) available to the public for the dates I wanted at the 325.00 per night rack rate (BCV were "sold out.")

After making arrangements for the purchase of points, I was disappointed to discover that there was nothing available through DVC, even thoughWDW still has the BWV available through the website.: confused3

This is my first experience with renting points. I realize now that I should have gotten into the game earlier, but I thought that "Villas" were "Villas."

The short answer is yes there are two separate inventories and the cash one cannot be used for points reservations.

There are two sets of inventory. Members exchange their points to do other things. DVC pays for those things by transfering the villa to CRO. Also, rooms empty within 30 days of a booking date gets transfered. It helps to lower our dues. I like the system personally.

They are the same Villas, but there is seperate inventory. That happens in several ways:

-Some ownership is held by Disney for CRO use, and maintenance
-Members trade out for an II trip to (fill in the blank) timeshare
-Members use trade out their points for Disney Cruise Line or to a non-dvc Disney resort

As a non-member, there is absolutely no way for you to find out about member (points) availability. Only a member can do that.
