Sep or Oct visit?

We usually visit in early May or early Dec but want to plan a fall visit next year to see the Halloween decorations and go to MNSSHP. F&W is not a priority of us. We're used to heat, so hotter Sep temps aren't a huge concern for us (but maybe the humidity should be?). It's just my DH and me, if that helps.

I'm looking for input to help me decide between mid-Sep (9/16-24) or 10/14-22 or 10/21-29. How often does the parade get cancelled at the party due to rain in Sep? Are the crowds significantly worse in Oct? In general, how will the crowds be at these times compared to what we're used to? Any advice or suggestions will help!

I would go with Sept. It seems that Oct. has been getting busier each year, and you run into Columbus Day/Jewish holidays and fall breaks from certain regions from early to mid month. Sept. is usually still a little quieter, at least until the end of the month, with kids started back to school, since it is mostly people with young children and those traveling without any, like you, who can take advantage of a slower time. Historically, free dining has also been available during that period as well, so you might be able to take advantage of that. As long as you prepare for the heat (and humidity) as you mentioned, that would be my pick - using early hours with afternoon breaks/pool time, and then back for evening hours usually works, but I am sure you are probably used to it in May.

Agreed 100%. Been to the World last Oct. for my birthday, crazy busy. This year we went just before Labor Day. Not as busy. As I would imagine, early Sept. when ALL the kids should be back in school, the crowds should be manageable. My vote is Sept.

If planning on the MNSSHP, I would just wait to buy a ticket until you arrive there and watch the local weather report. Pick a night where there is a lesser chance of rain. I know you can save a little by buying early but trust me, it isn't worth it. Going to this party in the rain stinks! Ask my how I know:rolleyes:
