Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

So good news y'all!! FIL is in the clear!! So many tha ks for your prayers and support! I still get goose bumps with the positive energy reading back on your posts!!

We are doing DW-Magic Kingdom after the cruise or possibly something else in Florida. Tossing up Busch Gardens, Lego Land or going to the Clearwater Marine Center (Dolphin Tale). Just depends on the funds after port excursions, shopping and tips, etc. And recommendations. Any suggestions?

Haven't checked yet to see if the second group has been assigned yet for the FE's. Just got some stuff from Hobby Lobby and JoAnne's to start making our FE and making some of the gifts now.

Ok now to the adult question... What kind of alcohol (if any) are y'all bringing? Lol!! Not looking to get trashed and be that obnoxious mom but more just to relax, unwind and enjoy being unplugged from life. Thinking wine and maybe a bottle of vodka for mixed drinks...
I am a Florida native! Specifically Tampa, FL =) So here are my opinions on those places

ahem
Busch Gardens- Loads of fun for everyone...if you love roller coasters, shows, animals, great kid area (Sesame Street) they have a really cool safari cost wise $$$ Unless you are a florida resident the tickets can range around $90 I believe now

Lego Land- I've only been once, I really enjoyed it but I've heard mix reviews...not much to offer for the little ones but not a lot of rides for the older ones, roller coasters are more tamed my 6 year old at the time LOVED it and so did my 12 year old niece not sure if teens would care for it $$ they are always running deals

Clearwater Marine Center- This is a tough one, I wasn't impressed with it, and wouldnt pay full price, but you can find sales on groupon ALL the time, I did love seeing Winter he really is the highlight. We had a nice time, maybe I was expecting more but you can make it better I think. Clearwater is such a fun side of town, maybe do that and head to clearwater beach Pier 60, grab food, outside entertainment, great ice cream shop on the beach =)

I don't think any choice you make would be a bad one!!

Did you mention Alcohol?! LOL I'll take TWO PLEASE (in each hand that is!!)

So gad to here your FIL is doing well!!!!

We've been wanting to Discovery Cove, Aquatica, and Sea World. If you are staying on property after the cruise it would be easy to add the water parks and more option and go to a Disney water park and DTD and Quest (some people don't like Quest, but we do :))

As far as alcohol goes, I plan to drink at least one DOTD daily! Otherwise, we are flying in and using Disney transportation to and from the world, so no grocery stop. My husband and I are planning to bring a wide variety of mini bottles. This will allow us to mix it up without bringing a ton of bottles on. I am like you, not a big drinker, just want to relax. Plus, I don't know what I will feel like when I'm on board, so I will bring several bottles of Sailor Jerry, several Bacardi in case I want to go fruity, vodka for the classic screwdriver, etc. I think this will be the easiest way to pack it, and allow me to have options.

Been MIA again! I'm trying to catch up, and read back a few pages since the last time I posted....Did somebody say ICE CREAM SOCIAL!?!! Do we know what day/ time yet? Also, this may have been asked already but for the FE are we doing a gift per person per day? or is it just one gift per person? I dont mind either way just want to know what else everyone is doing. Also, I noticed some of you are already shopping for them...but how many families do you know to buy for or is there a list that I'm missing?

SN: My daughter's Olaf I love summer themed birthday party was an ABSOLUTE HIT!!

The ice cream social is planned for around 3pm on the day we board at EYESCREAM I believe. Let Misty or Cindi know the number of people in your party and the topping you plan to bring :)

:cool1:I'm so happy that your FIL is doing well! That is wonderful!

I haven't been in Florida since I was 9, so I have no opinion about where you should go after our cruise. Good luck with your planning!

I am planning on bringing a bottle of rum for mixed drinks. I debated on bringing wine for dinner, but I can not deal with the $20 corking fee. So I will probably just not drink at dinner. My husband may want to bring some beer in his carry on, but I've stayed out of those plans!

Yes! The ice cream social is at 3pm on the first day.

Everyone I have seen is doing one FE gift per person. I don't think anyone would mind if you want to do more. It's up to you!

The list isn't finalized and it hasn't been split. It will be final on June 28th. My mom ran across an awesome deal, so we looked at the current list and bought an item for every girl 13 and under. We figure that if we have extras after the list is split, we will pixie dust the rest. Since there is a FE group in the site which will not be named, that shouldn't be hard! I have started my gift as well since it will take awhile to complete. I'm just skipping the personalized part till the list is final. Also, Amber said that the lists will be split based on our kids ages. So I have a general idea which families will likely be on my list. I've also flirted with the idea of doing both lists that will be on this group meet.

Ok makes sense! Thanks for explaining! This is our first FE I tried searching other boards for info but there was WAY too much drama!!

How did we get so lucky with a great bunch of people on this board?!?

That is the same thing I'm wondering!! I cringe just thinking that next cruise I could possibly be part of a drama filled group!!! But right now I'm absolutely loving our group!!!

So happy about your FIL!! Just wonderful news :yay:

Alcohol - last year we took the little airline bottles (shooters)...those worked out great because I could throw them in my bag and always had them handy. We also took our own cups because they are more sturdy than the disposable and hold more. I believe we took firefly vodka, lemon vodka, etc.

So glad to hear the good news!! Thoughts and prayers go along way! I'm gifting per person. We are also going to Tampa after the cruise we are staying in Treasure Island. I also did think about Bush Gardens and Clearwater Marina. Since we will only be there until Sunday morning I would rather spend it on the beach were I can open my Rum that I bought in the Bahamas. I just can't wait to smell the ocean breeze.

We are rebooking onboard...at least doing the placeholder cruise! Now to figure out when to go again :drive:

I'm planning on re booking also, for a 7 night cruise. Me and the kids are planning on going back in 2017 when avatar opens and universal studio's will be done with more of their expansions. It will be our mega vacation. My ideal time would be to go right after Thanksgiving but we can only put a place hold up to 2 years. Maybe I'll go over my Birthday this time instead of the kids...

That is a great idea! Is it true that we can't take an open bottle off of the ship? I thought I read something about customs that you can only take unopened items on and off the ship. If that is the case, I was worried about bringing a whole bottle of rum. I don't know that my hubby and I can finish that in four days! lol. The travel bottles are a great idea! Even just to be able to throw a couple in my bag.

We all need to rebook on board and plan for the same cruise :goodvibes:thumbsup2
Jake and I are talking about booking a placeholder while on board. We are interested in the 7 night Eastern Caribbean that stops in Tortola and St. Thomas. We would go Sept. 2017. Now we just need to decide if we are going to go for it or not!:sail:

I've heard the same thing about opened bottles of alcohol being confiscated in customs. That's another reason we stuck with shooters. There is no way we'd finish an entire bottle of anything (unless we shared).

So if anyone has booze they need to consume the last night, we could have a big party in Joe's room pirate:
