Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

I've eaten at both, but H&V was not a character meal at the time. They aren't horrible, but I wouldn't pick them for the food. We have never been back to H&V but we frequent CM when we take any extra people to WDW with us. This is so our guests can see the Fab5, and get pics and autographs. Basically it's just the basic WDW buffet which I really prefer not to do. I would also throw 1900PF in there too.

We don't use the dining plan (way overpriced for how we eat) so we normally do menu service restaurants. The only family style/buffets we really enjoy are Ohana dinner, LTT dinner,Tusker House lunch/dinner. Of these Ohana is our only must do.

Does anyone else on here follow DISboards on facebook? They posted the worst Disney dining experiences today, and Chef Mickey's and Hollywood and Vine had LOTS of negative reviews. Anybody experience this on past visits? I have ADRs to both and am thinking about changing.....it has me really scared! :scared1::confused3

I have eaten at both of these places and I wouldn't really eat there if you don't want the character experience. I have even read that Ohana's is getting bad reviews. Any buffet meal, you are taking a chance and I don't remember a good one at Disney. My personal preference is to order my meal but that's just me.

Hello all :)
With this being our very FIRST cruise... I would like to get a little input from all of you on what are the "must dos", "must brings" and "must sees" :) thank you!
Andrea

Please add us to the FE group - Kathy (adult), Tony (adult) & Kylee (17 - girl). We've signed up on the FB page but since these boards have banned FB links, we'd like to get in on both :-). Also, anyone interested in Mixology classes? Lots of fun!

You have been added to the list pixiedust:
Please give me your stateroom number, favorite character, and where you are from (optional)to be added to the list as well.

I had reserved them for the character experiences, but I went ahead and cancelled them. The kids can just see the characters at the park. I don't expect award winning food or anything, but there were so many posts that stated it was inedible. We had 2 other character dining reservations that we kept, so that should do. :groom:

We kept 1900 PF for the princesses. I It will be our only character dining experience. Luckily, there were no horror stories about it on the posts because it is the one my daughter wanted to go to the most.. We also kept Ohana and Boma. We are very excited about Ohana because we have heard many good things from friends.

I have read bad reviews about Ohana, but we love it. As far as restaurants go you really have to experience them yourself to know what to think. I will say that 1900 has some of the best character experiences!! Love the stepsisters:)

I'm a member of that group as well (not part of the FE over there though). It's funny b/c I know everyone has said these boards have slowed down so much but I think our cruise board over here is much more active than the other one! And yes my husband and I would be interested in a mixology class :) We were just talking about that last night actually! I was watching the Food Network Disney special that I recorded over the weekend and they did the Chocolate and Liquor tasting so we just may have to seek that one out as well...

My oldest turned 6 at the beginning of the month and she had a Frozen themed party. I wanted to do some special food and drink things for the party, but the weather was so miserable that we only had immediate family and some close friends. Oh well! A Frozen drinks bar sounds awesome! I bet she has a great time!

Aww I'm hoping we have good weather that day! Its a pool party so hoping for no RAIN!! FINGERS CROSSED!!

I'll cross my fingers for perfect weather!:sunny: A pool party sounds like a fun time. I'm really tired of cold weather here. I'm excited that we're supposed to have a high of 65 degress today!:lmao:

I'm lurking on this thread, but I sail the next four night after you guys. I'll be in 12508 and would love any info you have about that room and concierge when you get back. :) although it'll only be a three day gap before I move into it! :)

I finally finished our fish extenders! YAY!

Hi Andrea,

This is not our first cruise, but it is our first Disney cruise.

One piece of advice - don't overpack! You need about 1/2 of what you think you will. If you search on here, I'm sure there are some great packing lists and tips. I know over on Cruise Critic there are for sure.

Some things that I do take on every cruise:

Post it notes (for leaving notes for room stewards or each other)
Highlighter (to mark all the activities you want to do in the planner)
A small power strip or outlet extender (check on the Disney cruise site though - some types may not be allowed)
Shower caddy (I got a little mesh travel one that fits the small travel bottles and a bar of soap to hang in the shower)
Travel clock or docking station for phone (all ships I've been on have been without clocks)
My own hair dryer (just because I find the ones on board have been lacking)

For a 4 night cruise you don't need that much. You can mix and match outfits. Bring neutral shoes that go with everything. It's great not having a "formal" night on Disney and having Pirate night instead.

Hi Everyone I just seen this posting and thought maybe if enough is interested in doing this us as a group can reserve it. See #1. Maybe Amber can start another list of who would want to do this to see if we can get up to 25 people. Thoughts???

There are different types of alcohol tastings now being offered on board.
There are two ways to book these classes;
1. If you are in a group (Group Cruise meet) you can email DCL 30 days prior to sailing and reserve for your group.
A minimum of 25 guests to a maximum of 35 guests/adults per class/session (Depending on which class/tasting), and the appropriate fee per person and each participant will be charged automatically to their onboard account whether they show-up or not.
You will need to provide each guests full name and stateroom number or reservation number at least 2 weeks prior to sail date. You can also request for the time and dates you prefer.
DCLFunctionRequests@email.disney.com
2. On embarkation day head to the Guest Services and ask them what alcohol tasting they offer on board and they will give you a ticket. It is also indicated in the navigator.
