My FIL just had a heart attack and is not doing well also because of complications of a blood infection, diabetes and pnemonia. DH and I are his only family and take care of him. We have a DVC rental for December 12 -14th. We rented from a member BEFORE we became members ourselves. If we need to cancel our trip, can we have those points transferred to our DVC account?

Yes, if the seller is willing. I believe there is a limit of once per year. The key factor will be the expiration date of the rented points. Hope your family member gets better. I'd let the seller know soon the new situation your dealing with.

I would call MS ASAP and find out for sure. Banking deadlines would apply. I don't think you could enjoy a trip if you are worried about his health. Better to wait until you know how is doing.

Good luck and God Bless!

Sending pixie dust to you and your FIL :wizard:

i agree with Desperado, if the points used to book the ressies were points that expire the end of this year, you would have to use them by the end of this year.

you might be better off (unless you can use the points next year)seeing if you can rent the ressies out and have the owner that rented to you change the name on the ressies.

remember you are past the 30 cancelation policy, those points will go into holding, you can only book 60 days out for your next ressies.

i think you should contact the person you rented from and the two of you can decide what is best to do. good luck !

Sorry about your situation. If the points were banked or borrowed, they are not transferable. You could sub rent if the owner is willing. You could also ask the owner and MS to make any exceptions needed to transfer in this situation. Good luck.

Thank you all, again. Rather than cancelling the entire thing, we decided my husband would stay home with his father and I would take my sister in his place. Then I would just have to deal with the airline.

You all have been a big help.

FIlaw is doing about the same -- no better no worse -- but was transferred to a step down unit from CCU last night. Still waiting for a host of test results, including a test for multiple melanoma. His mother (DH's gram) died from it.

Thank you all for your prayers and pixie dust.

So sorry to hear this. Hope you fil's complications improve and he is able to be upgraded soon. Try and have a nice trip with your sister, though I know it may be a little difficult. Thoughts and prayers with you.

I apologize...what I meant to say in my last post is that if my husband cannot go my sister will go. We'll see how things go in the next week.

Again, thank you all very much.
