Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

I think I'm caught up again. I love your Star Wars story. You seem like such a baby compared to me - I guessed you are the same age as my baby sister, so I guess that makes sense!:goodvibes

Believe it or not, DH was still in high school when we became friends which (much) later became US, but anyway, he had those same sheets! Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

And, why isn't the binder open - is it.. maybe... still empty??? Hmmm? :rotfl2:

Jackie you crack me up....:rotfl:

I am actually most fearful of the dreaded Darth pez....great post! I was also 3 the year the (real) first SW came out...I don't recall seeing it at the show, though I know my parents did and my older sister she was 7. I recall seeing Episode 6 at the show and it is still my favorite. When they released Episode 4 in the late 90's right? Matt and I saw it w/ friends and we een dressed the twins up as those famous twins for their first halloween. I will have to scan the pix for you and post it later.

I always played Lei when my brother and cousins (all male at the time) acted out the movies...lucky me huh? ;)

I know someday in the near future we'll revist a SWW weekend till then I am enjoying all this fun immensly!

Glad to see you were able to find the good in Darth as well. :darth:

I am going to have to chime in here too to say OPEN THE BINDER!:rotfl2:

There was rumor of an update over here this weekend, so I came to check it out.

I'll come back in a little while.

Have you got wind this weekend?
We had about three flurries, in the area, but we escaped the inch they predicted.
The wind, however, is 'blustery day' worthy.

Did someone say there would be an update this weekend? popcorn::

A "wintry mix" is falling in NYC, so it's a great day for the DIS. Hope the weather is better in Georgia. :goodvibes

Yea!!:cool1: for the trip binder, now serious planning can begin.

Yep! I must confess I have been pretty lackadaisical with the planning for this trip.

Oh my gosh, I love those!!!! Chad would seriously plass out!!

I love them! I want to buy a set since I had those exact sheets when I was little.

Oh you know I am with you on the tornados!! Ugh, I dread tornado season coming up!!!! I will have my post by our front door!!

You know I hate tornado season, but I am ready to be finished with this cold weather.

I do have to say, you look a little nervous standing by Darth! Did he threaten to take you on the Death Star?? :rotfl2:

:lmao: He was very tall! LOL!

I love the binder!!

Thanks!

Oh, I just showed Chad the picture of Darth Vader with you and Chelsea and Connor and he said, "Man!! Look how big he is!! When are we gonna go down for that?" ha ha

SWW are a lot of fun! Tell Chad he can get his picture made with Jabba the Hutt as well!

Nice binder!

Thanks!

What a fantastic BINDER! You do a great job with these! Very nice color scheme and pics!

Thanks! I had fun making it during our snow week. I seem to be on a purple and red kick lately.

I know I agree with you about that "fear" of Vader! I thought the same thing when I was a kid... then I think about our kids, who actually get to stand up to him or next to him, with all their "shortness" and all his "ominous sizeness" And I think I would pee my pants if I was in their shoes!!! And so I am ever thankful for the "on-screen" introduction vs. the in person bit!!! At least I could duck my head and cover my eyes and he wasn't going to talk to me!!!

No kidding! I would never have posed for a picture with Darth Vader when I was little! I can't imagine how terrified I would have been to see him in person when I was younger! :scared1:

Did Connor ever do the Jedi training? When Griffin did it, I would have paid good money to be inside his head during that experience, to know what was going on in his mind!!! you guys are going to have the best time!!! :thumbsup2

I loved those pictures of Griffin battling Darth Vader! We could never convince Connor to do the training! I really wanted him to do it, but he had zero interest in standing in line.

Love your binder. So fun. I have binder envy. I have never had a binder. Perhaps I need to rectify that.

It always makes me feel like the trip will really happen.

I totally relate to your basement trauma. For me it was not Darth Vader (although I loved the movies) but rather the sleestacks (sp?) from Land of the Lost. Seriously, I was afraid to enter the furnace room for YEARS.

You needed a Stay Out sign for your furnace room! They are very effective! LOL!

I am SO looking forward to hearing at SWW from the CP clan this year! I'm sure it will be awesome!!!

Thanks! I am sure we will have some fun!

I shared your updated with Tim & he told me of one of his childhood nightmares where Darth decapitated his mother! :scared1: He had to go sleep on the floor next to her side of the bed so that Darth would have to step over him to get to her. :rotfl:

Yikes! I can totally relate! I would have nightmares and have to go check on my parents and let them know I had had a bad dream. My mom always told me to go back to bed.

My brothers both had those sheets! I brought some vintage T's to Germany for my nephews and my brother was SOOO jealous!

At 4, Darth would be terrifying!!!

It's funny to read how many people had those sheets! I was in love with them!

Well, looky, looky...
it's Stormtroopers!
Oh, yeah, I know a Stormtrooper when I see one. :woohoo:

You're a quick learner, MeMom! :thumbsup2

You went all dark side on your binder didn't you LOL!!!! LOVE IT!!! I too had a fear of Darth Vader for the longest while!!! Even after I knew "who" he was at the end I still had a healthy respect for the power he yielded!!!

He was the epitome of evil to me when I was little.

Love those sheets!! I may have to get a set myself!!!!

They are so cool! If I thought I could convince Connor that he wanted them, I might buy them. ;)

Thanks for texting with me today!! Really enjoyed it!!!!

Same here!

:rotfl::rotfl:LOVED THIS! i just jumped into the middle of you PTR because you mentioned SWW. While I am still waiting for this year's details to be posted we will be there for what should be the first weekend. DH is SOO looking forward to this!

I'll be keeping track of your updates!!

Welcome!!!! Did you see where it was announced that Anthony Daniels will be there for the first two weekends? We don't normally do the autographs thing, but I may have to make an exception this year. Who can pass up a chance to meet C3PO?

that's how I separate egg whites too!

It works! LOL!

Love the back story!! My DH's ringtone, for when i call him, is Darth Vader saying "what is thy bidding master?" and for his texts its "Come to the Dark Side".

Oh my goodness! I love it! For awhile I had the Darth Vader for my ringtone for Charles. He didn't find it nearly as amusing as I did. LOL!

Totally had those sheets when I was little!

The first Star Wars movie I saw in the theater was Return of the Jedi at the tender age of 2 (when it came out). Apparently, I had seen the other two movies because we had them in some weird disc form (not laser disc, but I don't know what it was called). So in one of the first scenes where Darth is coming out of the ship and all you see are his boots first? Yeah, apparently, my mom said that this was the opportune time for me to chime in and shout in the theater "Mommy, mommy! Darth Vader!!!! Hoo-pah, hoo-pah!!" :lmao:

Yup, totally tried to mimic his breathing and everything. I was never afraid of him somehow....

Too cute about your attempted mimicking of Darth Vader's breathing. We had laser discs when I was growing up -- I haven't thought about those in years!

Side note, growing up, my brothers and I used to take our Star Wars figures, and create the Sarlacc pit monster in the dirt, with toothpicks coming out of the side. Somehow, Lando always ended up in that pit.......:rotfl2:

:lmao: Poor Lando!!!

That is awesome!

Gee Jackie, if you had been watching Big Bang Theory, you would have known this a couple years ago. They actually played a part in one of the story lines!

See, I knew I should be watching Big Bang Theory! I always forget when it is on -- I need someone to remind me.

I remember those sheets when I was a kid.
Pottery Barn Kids has the whole bedroom set. The blanket is cute too.

I love your trip binder cover. You're so creative, Jackie!
Are we going to get a peak inside the binder?

I did look at all the Pottery Barn Star Wars stuff -- it is all so neat. I liked the pillows with the sayings on them.

The binder's insides look about the same as they always do, but I might be able to oblige. ;)

:lmao:

I can just imagine little Jackie dictating that sign. How very cute!

Love the binder, it is perfect for your trip planning.

I was a bit of a diva even at a young age! LOL! I showed Charles a picture of me around that time yesterday and his response was, "You look like you were a bit of a brat." He was right in a way.

I always like making the binder.

Loved the update Jackie! Can you do a post just about your trip binder? I would love to see photos of the inside of it! I'm going to update my ptr with my trip binder pics today! My brother would love all of the star wars stuff! (He's a total trekkie!)

Thanks! I can do pictures of the inside. It stays pretty standard from year to year though.

Good job Chelsea!!! The pie looks delish!!!

I have an egg white separater my mom bought me. Its a head and you crack the egg and put it in there and the egg white comes out of the guys nose. Yuck!! haha I can't stand touching a raw egg...or raw chicken...or raw meat!! lol
So kudos to you sweet Chelsea!!! :goodvibes

:lmao: Love that your egg separator is a face!

I am not a fan of touching raw meat either -- especially hamburger.

The story about Darth is too cute-- love the basement sign! Ahh, the making of the Disney binder-- such an exciting part of planning!!

I wish my parents had kept that sign. It is one of the classic stories from my childhood. LOL!

How stinkin' cute were you, dictating a sign to your dad to keep the bad guys away! Loved the little peek into your childhood :goodvibes

Great job on the trip binder!

Thanks, Michelle. I am sure my parents were at their wits' end because my playroom was in the basement, and I flat out refused to go down there for awhile. My mom was probably willing to try anything at that point to get me back down there. LOL!

Haha oh Jackie, I love the story about the sign in your basement. That's priceless! Your trip binder is really cute. Do you leave that in the room each day or does it come into the parks with you?

Thanks! I was so terrified of the stormtroopers and Darth Vader coming through there, but I really didn't want Princess Leia and Han Solo to think they weren't welcome. LOL!

I leave the trip binder in the room. No way would I lug that through the parks.

When my second son was 2 we ran into Darth Vader at a festival. Darth scared the crap out of my son!:scared1: He did grow out of it & became a huge fan. The first movie that sons saw was Empire Strikes Back. They had all of the toys that were out, also. Second son is your age Jackie, that makes me feel my age. :sad1:

My 7 year old GD loves Star Wars & is gettibg into the old Star Treks with William Shatner. Just like her grandmama! :wizard:

I remember being so excited when The Empire Strikes Back came out -- same with Return of the Jedi. I still like the second one best!

Isn't it fun to share your likes with the kids? I feel that way with Connor about Star Wars.

Ok I figure I will post this here since we were talking about Charles coming over to the dark side.

My Disney hating DH was walking through the house and just mumbled something about an Iguanadon. I actually asked him if he said that becuse I really thought I heard wrong.
He said yes and walked out of the room.

What the heck was that all about?

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Oh that is too funny!!! I wonder what prompted him to say something about an Iguanadon.

Jackie - awesome update! I can definitely see how Darth Vader would be very frightening to a 5 year old. My kids watched those movies over and over again.

Love the sheets. We had lots of star wars sheets too.

I love the cover of your binder. Very cool!

I have watched those movies over and over again. I saw the other day where they are coming out on Blu-Ray in September and actually thought, "Maybe it is time to buy a Blu-Ray."

I didn't read through ALL of your posts in here but I wanted to let you know that my husband and I will be going to SWW too! We are taking our loving family...my daughter being the oldest of 4...her initials spell HANS...yes as in Han Solo. Husband kinda did that one by filling in the birth certifcate with her first name having a space in it so the initials spelled it!! When I saw the birth certificate I just stared!!! We will also be taking Leia and Luke along for the ride! Of course my son Brayden will be going too...he is the only one not related to Star Wars in some way name wise...dh wanted him to be named Hayden but I was able to get Brayden instead. Just thought you would like to know that! :rotfl2:

Oh, I love all the nods to Star Wars in your kids' names! Too cool! I would have loved to name Chelsea Leia, but Charles would never have gone for that one. :sad2:

:lmao:

The sign in the basement is HILARIOUS!!! I love it!

My brothers had those sheets on their beds. My mom still has them. They're old and ratty and well-loved.

Pretty binder!

If my mom had kept those sheets, they would have been pretty ratty as well. I loved them!

Too funny about the basement sign!!

It worked. :thumbsup2;)

Now about this binder - it is so nicely done. Do you use a different one each trip and save them with all their contents? Or do you take the stuff out and reuse the binder? Just curious. I use the same one over and over, but I don't make mine so cute with covers etc. It would be nice to do that and then take the cover and turn it into a scrapbook title page.

Actually I usually just buy a new binder and then most of the same stuff is placed inside. Some of it is changed around for the current trip like budgets and resort details, but for the most part, the contents are the same from year to year. Now this year, I did actually reuse the same binder from the AKL trip -- I wanted purple and figured I could just use that one instead of buying new.

You guys NEED to get an egg separator!!!! Gosh, I should send you one. They're really cheap! I'm guessing there must be a Disney one out there!

Maybe I will look for one at Walmart this morning. ;)

Do you have a stand mixer? Holding a mixer for meringue would be tough!!! Kudos to Chelsea if she did that!! I don't have the arm strength. I probably would never bake if I didn't have my trusty Kitchen-Aid stand mixer!

No stand mixer, just a hand-held one. I would love one of those Kitchen Aid ones, but have never been able to justify the price when I could spend that money on vacation. One day...

So, what's in that binder....popcorn::

I guess I could open it up. ;)

I'm with Sheree, I want to see inside the binder...:magnify:

 The Binder of Secrets...

The cover of your trip binder is so cool! I hope we get to see the contents! I also noticed how you were standing next to Darth Vader, as if you were thinking, “I’ll stand close enough for the picture, but not too close…” :rotfl:

I think that must have been what I was thinking subconsciously.

Part of your trip binder? What progress! :cool1: He is a scary dude. Well, until his helmet came off and we saw who was inside. :rolleyes1

:lmao: I was even a little freaked when Luke took his helmet off and I was a much older and much wiser eight at the time. LOL!

I actually surprised that Ben hasn't insisted we own these sheets yet....maybe they don't make them for a queen sized bed. :upsidedow

They do, but I won't tell Ben.

Wow!!! Love your binder :worship: I feel like I am doing good if I put my ADR's in my iphone :rotfl2: Seriously!
:rotfl2: OMG I was cracking up at your dictated post to your father to keep Darth Vader at bay :lmao: Too cute!!

Tracy

Thanks! I love making the binder, but to be honest, I don't know how much I really use it anymore.

I was quite adamant about who was allowed in the basement and who wasn't from Star Wars. LOL!

Thank you for taking me back to my childhood...I remember Empire Strikes Back. I imagine my dad took me to see it, but I am not really sure. My mom has an awful memory so no help there. ;)

Empire Strikes Back was my absolute favorite -- probably because Leia and Han kissed. LOL!

I played with the action figures with my neighbors. I so wanted to be Princess Leia!

Oh, I did, too! I wanted to be just like her!

Here is a picture that I took for my neighbor's son, but it seems that I had another person I was taking it for!

1174874863_u3dKq-M-1.jpg

Love it!!! Is this at the end of the Backlot Tour?

Wow, the kids look so young there!

They have grown a lot over the past few years.

I love IT!!!! And yes, I was just a tad bit frightened of him too.....maybe, part of me still is! Ha ha ha ha haha!!! :)

THE FORCE!!!!!

Oh, if I were completely honest, Darth does make me a little nervous still. ;)

Not sure if you know this but on jibjab.com (the company that has all the elf yourself things) has a whole star wars series that you can do! It's Hillarious! You should check it out! I bought the year membership for around $7 or $8! Just google the coupon code!

LOL! I did actually do one of them awhile back -- the Empire Strikes Back one -- Chelsea was not pleased when I made her Lando, but I wanted to be Princess Leia.

Hey Jackie! I'm late, but I'm here to join in! :goodvibes

Hi, Lynne! You aren't late at all! Thanks for coming over!

Open the binder!!! Open the binder!!! popcorn::

Open the binder, open the binder...:bored:

Open the binder! Open the binder!
please.gif

What? You want me to open the binder?

Are you sure?

:lmao:

Open the binder! Open the binder! :cheer2::cool1::banana:

Twist my arm! :lmao:

I love the story about your childhood. Too cute!! I have always had a strange fascination with Darth Vader. I have always known he was evil, but he intrigued me. My DS, Cooper, loves Darth Vader. He loved fighting him at Jedi Training also. One of the highlights of our last trip. I think I may get him Star Wars stuff from PB for his birthday.
Speaking of Darth Vader, when I was in training, there was a certain surgeon in our hospital that had a reputation for being evil with the residents and students. Everytime I saw him walk down the hall, he reminded me of Darth Vader and I would hum the music in my head. :rotfl:

:rotfl: I do love Darth Vader's voice -- James Earl Jones was perfect!

That PB stuff is so cool!

Too funny about the surgeon. We have a teacher at our school who tends to be a bit much -- I always hear the Wicked Witch of the West's music in my head when she comes bearing down on me.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that there are some people who want to see the inside of your binder.

You think? :lmao:

Just open the Binder! :hourglass ::yes::

I might be persuaded...:rolleyes1

I thought you might enjoy this Volkswagen commercial: The Force http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R55e-uHQna0&feature=channel

Love it!!! Connor has that Darth Vader mask and costume. LOL!

Oh, that is just precious!:rotfl2:

Makes me want to buy a Passat now. I am such a victim of marketing. LOL!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: that was cute.

Wasn't it great?

I think I'm caught up again. I love your Star Wars story. You seem like such a baby compared to me - I guessed you are the same age as my baby sister, so I guess that makes sense!:goodvibes

Believe it or not, DH was still in high school when we became friends which (much) later became US, but anyway, he had those same sheets! Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

And, why isn't the binder open - is it.. maybe... still empty??? Hmmm? :rotfl2:

Too funny that DH still had those sheets! LOL!

The binder is full, never fear. :rotfl:

Jackie you crack me up....:rotfl:

The details are beginning to trickle out a bit which makes me even more excited.

Glad to see you were able to find the good in Darth as well. :darth:

It took a long time for me to reach that point. LOL!

Joining in! :goodvibes

Welcome!!!

I am going to have to chime in here too to say OPEN THE BINDER!:rotfl2:

Oh, I guess I could let you have a quick peek. ;)

There was rumor of an update over here this weekend, so I came to check it out.

I'll come back in a little while.

Have you got wind this weekend?
We had about three flurries, in the area, but we escaped the inch they predicted.
The wind, however, is 'blustery day' worthy.

I am going to update today, but I am not sure where my weekends go anymore. :sad2:

It was very windy here yesterday. I thought of Pooh and Piglet often! :thumbsup2

Did someone say there would be an update this weekend? popcorn::

A "wintry mix" is falling in NYC, so it's a great day for the DIS. Hope the weather is better in Georgia. :goodvibes

Hopefully if I can get my act together...

cough, cough, cough... :rolleyes1

popcorn::

Yep, I guess it is time for me to make good on our deal LOL!...I have some pictures I need to take -- I delved into boxes in the closet yesterday looking for some very specific items...;)

OOOOH can I chant too....Open the Binder Open the Binder!!!

I'm with you on where do the weekends go...I'm still so far behind on my grading and getting my house in order LOL

Waiting for the update... happy dog had one already!

As for the blue ray player.. Doug says he can tell the quality is better (granted I think we have only watched Enchanted and the Toy Story trio!)

Here I was hoping to see the inside of the binder this weekend....pretty please! :flower3:
