Senior Pictures at WDW

My DD is a high school senior this year. As many parents know, the cost of senior pics is outrageous. DD has expressed she would like to just a few pics at the designated school photographer and have her casual pics at WDW.

Has anyone done this before?

Are there any reasonable photographers at WDW that set up professional shots that would be suitable for senior pics?

What would be good backgrounds would anyone recommend?

She has said it would not have to be a professional, if we thought we could get some good shots with our own digital camera. I have thought about spending a few extra bucks and spring for a good camera. Justifying the cost by what we would save from the professional photographer and would also have a good camera for graduation pics.

I have my own tripod and have taken decent pics in the past. Anyone think this would work?

For a background, I think the rose garden area on the side of the castle would be lovely. Or the gardens between FW and WS in Epcot. I'm sure there are many more that people can suggest....

Disney does have professional photographers that will pose and take pics of your whole family in various spots around the park. You can then order what pics you want. It's $275 for the photo shoot and you get a portfolio of pics. This way-you can get the senior pics but maybe some whole family. We always have lots of pics of DH b/c I take the pics--we don't usually get both of us!

I would ask your DD if she plans on giving out the disney photos to her friends. I know when I was a senior you gave your senior photo (wallet sized) to EVERYONE. The Disney photos will not be able to be professionally reproduced by anyone other than Disney (copyright issues) and that could get very expensive, so it might be better to do a couple on your digital that you can get a lot of reproductions of for your DD to distribute to her friends.

Good luck!

The school will only stipulate that one of her "head and shoulders" shots be submitted by a certain date for the yearbook. In my DS's case, the studio submits it for us. The other shots will be for your family and friends, so I don't see why you can't take the pictures anywhere you want! Remember, whoever takes the shots will need professional lighting, etc. I wonder if it'd be hard to get shots without people walking through the shot. I think you'd need to pick a place with your DD standing up against some kind of backdrop, wall, etc., so that others wouldn't appear in the background. If you want to do it in WDW, you want to be able to recognise it as WDW, so you'd want to try to get the castle or something else identifying in the frame. Another potential problem would be if your DD is posing out in the heat for any length of time, it could get uncomfortable, and the weather is very dicey this time of year.Your best bet would be to find a photographer with experience shooting in WDW, I would think. Good luck and let us know what you decide! :flower:
