Senior Discount at Disneyland Hotels - date?

I just got off the phone with them for the third time this month. But this is the first time that I wasn't given a date as to when the discounts would be available. My CM today stated that there has never been a set date, and that the hope to get the rates loaded by december 1st (last date I received)was because DL is upgrading their reservation system... apparently my CM figures the rates will become active during the upgrade. I asked if there were a set number, and my CM said it was based on the total percentage of standard rooms booked, not on a fixed number available. Unfortunately the end of the story is that we just have to keep calling until the rate is available, or DL decided to not offer it.

Just got off the phone with a CM. I am hoping a very misinformed CM. She told me that there would be NO senior discounts for 2013! I am so hoping this is not true. I was expecting her to say those discounts haven't been released yet, but she was adamant they would not be released period. I hope if anyone else calls and gets a different answer, you will post!! It wouldn't make sense to me to give the discount in 2012 with the Carsland opening and none for 2013. Thoughts???

If you are getting a 30% discount this year, it's probably because the discounts were set in 2011 for the year 2012.
I called and was told the same thing. No Senior or Airline discounts for 2013.

Carsland has kept the occupancy rate UP. Disney realizes they do not need to offer these discounts to entice people to come.

Maybe if and when the turnstiles slow down, the discount will return.

We got a good discount at DLH in May before CL. (I'm pretty sure it was 15- 20% for DLH and GCH and 20-25% at PPH depending on dates and room category.) Then in Nov. we couldn't get anything but AP 10%.

I kept watching for discounts for any time frame after CL opened and I think there were only some in September. I anticipated what the CM told you - no discounts next year except basic AP of 10%. The perk of EMH at DCA for staying onsite was marketing genius on disney's part but not so great financially for many of us.

We received 30% off our room at PP & DLH in October and we also received 30% off our upcoming stay at DLH over Christmas (only booked 3 weeks ago)...I am sad to see that there will be no senior discounts in 2013 as this discount made DL more attractive to us...we'll probably head back to WDW in 2013.

Was the 30% for senior discount? You are one of the first I've seen on these boards who has gotten such a good rate for those dates!

If you are referring to our Christmas week rates, yes, we got a senior rate for Dec 23-29 for a standard room at the Disneyland Hotel. Saved close to $1,000 off our room. We decided last minute (less than 5 weeks to our trip dates) to visit DL, I was shocked when I called that they had discounted rooms available. The CM advised that I would need to have my Mom's ID with me when we check in. This was something I already knew as this will be our 5th stay using the senior discount (April 2011, April 2012, May 2012 and October 2012 (X2)) and each time we have received 30% off a standard room at either Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotel.

I have tried every Disney trick to save money at DL, and it doesn't seem to be in the cards. We were going to rent points for GVC, but no availability. I found out about this discount, and my mom always travels with us so this discount would have been great. I don't know. I know staying offsite isn't the end of the world, but it may possibly be the one and only trip to DL so I wanted it to be special. I can just always figure out something at DW. we are already paying more money for this trip than any DW trip, and it looks like we will be offsite at Sheraton Park.

Msdaisy...I'm sorry your plans didn't work out but I know you will still have a great time...CarsLand is sooooo amazing.

There was a thread on this board with some discount coupons for the Rainforest Cafe in DTD, the Disneyland Express, and LaBrea Bakery - here's the link to the coupons.

I know what you mean about DL costing more than WDW...I would never have known about the senior discount if it had not been for a wonderful CM that I spoke to when I was planning our April 2011 trip. When I mentioned I was travelling with my Mom he asked if she was a senior and when I replied that she was he told me about the senior's discount. He said that to always ask if they are available when I call to book a reservation. I was surprised that there were discounts for Christmas week but I was prepared to pay rack rate because we just found out my Mom is losing her sight and I wanted her to see Disneyland all decorated for Christmas before she no longer see.

Just confirming what has been said above. I called today to "check" on senior rates (planned to add AAA rate since I knew from here senior would be a no) and the agent initially told me there was a 10% senior discount. I thought, wow, this is news. However then she had problems loading the discount and had to put me on hold to check something. When she came back she told me that "Wow, there is no senior discount for 2013". She also told me that they removed the military discount as well.

There is a AAA discount of 10%, but it wasn't available on my current standard room (the standard rooms are sold out) however she could give it to me on a theme park view room.

I was so looking forward to the 30% discount, but oh well. Good thing we cut a day off our reservation bc of work & school! Can't wait to run the Tinkerbell 1/2 for my second time and for my DDs to get to see CarsLand!

When I tried the other day I was sad to find the senior discount was out for 2013.
I asked about other discounts and was told about the AAA 10% discount.
So I decided to book with the AAA discount.
The CM said they couldn't book with the 10% for AAA.
I would have to go through a AAA agent to make the reservation..

Guess I'd better try another call. I really don't like AAA travel in my area.

I've also booked a WDW room thru WDTC with a AAA discount. Never thru my AAA travel agency.
