not sure this is the place to put this......but It doesn't go in the disablities forum. I am planning a Christmas trip with my parents....... they will be nearing 70. They are in good shape but will not be able to walk and walk all day.......... any suggestions....... do they have scooters that can be rented??? Do they ever run out???? :moped: :moped:

My dh and I are both "senior citizens" who love Disney,my advice is to see that they have enough info about the parks and the Disney transportion so that they can travel at thier own pace and be able to return to the resort in the afternoon for a rest period, that is what we do.You can rent scooters in the parks but you must be there early because they do run out of them. You can also rent them from an off site dealer for the lenght of your stay,(see DIS Disabilities site.)There can be a lot of walking but my DH and I just take it slow and will sit and rest when we need it, we also tend to pick shows and rides that let us sit down like the Haunted Mansion and Muppets in 3D. The secret is to know what the rides and shows are, where they are and what they do. I suggest that you buy your parents a guide book like The WDW Passporter well before you go so they have time to read and study it.
Have a great trip.Disney World is for young at heart senior citizens :earsboy: :earsgirl:

THank you so much for the reply..... my parents will have a great time I know....... they will be happy just watching the grandkids have fun. As for now we are planning to get them back to the room for a rest in the afternoon and to not do every park back to back and hurry hurry hurry.... the way young teens tend to do. :cloud9:

We went w/my parents in April & my Dad, although only 66, isn't in the best of health (3 known heart attacks, high blood pressure, mini strokes, and knee replacement). He can walk, slower then us young ones, but its the standing that kills him. He thought he was going to have to rent a scooter everyday, but only had to at Epcot - its a pretty long walk all the way around the world! And he did great the rest of the 8 day trip. :cool1: He thought the scooter was well worth the money. They even have a thing that you can rent a scooter (or stroller), upfront, for everyday of the trip & when you pay in advance its cheaper. I can't see how they can let you pay for it in advance & then possible run out???? But don't know for sure.
Enjoy your trip!
