I read some where (in the FAQs here, most likely) that the USPS doesn't recognize Disney Resort addresses and to use a private carrier like UPS and FedEx to send things TO the resorts. I may need to send something to the resort and then have it sent back home after our trip so I was thinking of including a pre-paid postage before leaving home on our trip. What would be the best and most economical way to do that? Can I just go to the regular post office at home, get it weighed, get postage, then drop it off in the mailbox at the resort? Would the USPS have any problems picking it up there? Should I expect a delay if I choose this method? Or should I just stick with either UPS or FedEx to ship it back home? If I do go with UPS/FedEx, how do I get it to them while at the resort? Do I leave it with the front desk/guest services/concierge?

Thank you

I can't speak to USPS, but if you're staying at one of the resorts with a convention center, but business center will be able to help you with FedEx/UPS. I usually stay at the BW and take the box down to the business center at the convention center and they weight it and print out all of the mailing labels. They also sell boxes and packing materials.

Here is a link to some info about the business centers and their locations:

No, we're looking to stay at one of the Port Orleans, so no business center there. :(

I'll share my experience... stayed at AKL last year and needed to ship home some stuff that was no longer needed a few days into my trip. Wanted to do USPS since I could do a flat rate box and didn't need to worry about knowing the weight ahead of buying the postage.

Step 1- Went to concierge and asked if it was possible for them to send a box out USPS if it was already postage paid, was told no problem.
Step 2- Wanting to be extra sure before spending the money, went to front desk on a different day and asked if it was possible for them to send a box out USPS if it was already postage paid, was told no problem.
Step 3- Feeling pretty good about the whole USPS thing since two CMs had said no problem, I went to a post office and got a flat rate box and paid associated postage before returning my rental car that I only had for a single day.
Step 4- A few days later, took packed up box down to concierge and was told they can't send stuff out USPS, only UPS/FedEx.
Step 5- Took packed up box to front desk and was told they can't send stuff out USPS, only UPS/FedEx.
Step 6- While getting more and more frustrated, told CM what I had been told previously. She fought me tooth and nail, and when I asked for a manager, she went back through a door (I assume to an office) and disappeared for about 10 minutes (yes, it was this long, I timed it) with my box. She came back out without my box and said it would be taken care of.
Step 7- Box didn't show up at my house for over a week and a half, so clearly it had been sitting around somewhere at AKL not going out for a bit (given the type of postage and distance it traveled, should have been delivered 2-3 days later at most).

After that experience, I'd recommend going with UPS or FedEx if you can.

The package I have in mind should fit in the USPS mail slots at the resorts. I have very limited experience with them, only using them to mail post cards. Considering such, would it still be a problem? If I were to ship UPS/FedEx would I just hand it over to guest services/concierge and they'd take care of it?

Is it a package or a regular envelope? If its a regular envelope that fits in a mail slot, that shouldn't be a problem. If its a package that goes anything other than regular old first class mail, I wouldn't put it in the slot, I'd take it over to the concierge. Also, keep in mind the slots are small (postcard/letter sized), not like full mailbox size ones.

If you do UPS or FedEx, you can give it to the concierge and they will take care of it from there (assuming you've already got it paid for).

I'm thinking it'll be a small padded envelope. 4x6" size but probably no more than 10x15".
