Sending packages to the room?

My last trip to WDW was January of 2004 and will be going back this January. I remember purchasing items throughout the parks using my room key and having them delivered back to the room.

My question is, if I want my purchases sent back to my room so that I don't have to lug them around all day, do I need to purchase them using my room key?

Or can I pay cash and still have them delivered to the room?

Thanks.

In April 2007, we had our purchases shipped back to the resort (PC). It had to be more than 24 hours out from when we were leaving - and they were shipped to the gift shop at our resort, not to our room. We had to fill out a paper form with our room #, etc. It worked very well.

You can pay any way (KTTK, credit card, cash) and have it delivered back to the RESORT. Not sure for concierge but all other rooms now send the packages to one place in the resort (I would think whichever store operates in the resort as they do at the Poly). They no longer deliver them directly to the room. There must have been some problems with that.

The resort will leave you a message when your package arrives for you to [sign for] & pick up. Allow 1 to 1 1/2 days -- which is why you can't do this the last day.

Also packages can be delivered to the front of the park (not sure of timing to allow) and then can be picked up on the way OUT of the park. :thumbsup2

Thank you. Not being to have it delivered to the room is a bummer but having them delivered to the resort is much nicer than having to haul them around all day.

Universal hotels deliver to the room.

Disney hotels deliver to one of the gift shops unless you're staying "club level". If you're in a club room, they deliver to your room. It's the one and only thing I miss about staying in club level rooms...but I'm not paying $125/night to get it. :)

Most packages are available for pick-up the next afternoon. The Magic Kingdom sometimes takes 2 days, I don't know why. If you are checking out the next day, nobody will send it to your hotel...but you can have it sent to package pick-up in the park and get it yourself when you leave (might have to wait in line, especially at closing.)

You can also have stuff sent back to your house. They do charge you fo the shipping, but they don't charge you tax on items you send home, so it actually works out very well, especially if you're buying big, bulky items like thick blankets or whatever that you don't want to lug around or have room to pack. :) You need not be staying in a Disney hotel to do this.

It never matters how you paid for the stuff.

Have fun shopping!! :)

1) Alas, room delivery for packages has succumbed to cost reductions.
2) Now, packages are delivered to the Gift Shop.
3) If you stay on the Club Floor, they are still delivered to the room.

When I went in '07 we had items delivered back to Pop and yes it went to the gift shop. The line was quite long and there was only one person searching through stacks of packages. I waited over 45 minutes to get my items. I wasn't too worried about it because I was on vacation and there wasn't much else to do about it but wait. However, there were a lot of very angry persons that were probably tired of waiting and several mentioned it wasn't worth having it sent back to the resort just to have to wait to get it. I guess I would just say that if it's something easy to carry or you will be heading back to the resort soon anyway, just to carry it. Don't have it sent back just because you can. It seemed like a lot of people used the service simply because it was there, not because it truly was the best plan for them.
