Sending merchandise from 1 resort to another

Ive never used the service that allows you to send merchandise you buy back to your resort. If I buy something from the Contemporary gift shop will they send it to my room at Port Orleans? Or does this only work in the parks?

That's a great question! The merch from park to resort works great but there's a limit on how close you can get to your checkout date (I think it might be two days prior.) I'm guessing they won't go resort-to-resort, but let's have one of the experts chime-in here.

I've often wondered the same thing. We love the shops at contemporary and sometimes head over there for a little shopping/relaxing session mid day.

If you don't receive a solid response on this thread I'm going to inquire when we go in October (if I actually remember to ).

In January we asked at the gift shop in the Contemporary and the CM said they would only transfer to the other monorail resorts. May have changed ...

This made me think of another question: Inside the parks and at DS you can ship your purchases home from just about any of the stores. Do the resort shops offer this as well? If they will do that, it might be better than sending it to another resort.

Yes and yes.(It is not cheap)

Related to the shipping home, there is the shop disney parks app. Most of what you can find int he resort store is sold somewhere else and you can scan it with the app and then have shipping options (home, front of park and it might even do to your resort). So try the app and see if that fits into your not carry it around needs when stopping into a resort. Many things aren't in the app but a lot is. Shipping is reasonable also (oh and you can order many things from home and never step foot in the parks)

Also related to shipping it home, you can also call the park/resort from home and they will sell/ship it to you if they still have it. It's even more expensive then shipping it home from the resort while your there.

Some years ago we had a large purchase from Once Upon A Toy at DS that we shipped home. This is when the monorail playsets were available--the castle, Contemp, Spaceship Earth, Poly etc. The boxes for these items were HUGE, no way to pack them or carry them on the plane. The cost was steep, but it was the best choice at the time. I don't recall exactly how much it was, but something around the lines of $80 for the shipping. Sure was fun getting a big box from WDW a couple of days after we returned home.

Last month I purchased 4 of the hand-carved giraffes from the outside marketplace in Africa (the big ones), and ended up paying abut $17-$18 for shipping as there was no way they would ever have fit in my suitcase nor would I dared to try given their cost. Turned out to be the best thing I did. I honestly didn't think the shipping cost was too bad and they did a phenomenal job wrapping them. The best part was they said about 7-10 days to ship ground, we still had about 5 days left of our vacation and the box was already sitting at my front door the day we arrived home .

That's an excellent point! They do a very good job with the packing/wrapping, and if damage occurs in transit, Disney will take care of it.

Yes, we shipped two packages from the resort gift shops to our home. Not that expensive and based on cost of merchandise, not weight. Two large boxes, one cost us 7.75 and other was about 17. Shipped last Tuesday and received today via UPS. In contrast, we also sent a box via UPS of merchandise that we bought in Epcot at China. Cost for that box was $75.

You can ship home from resort shops but not to other resorts. There was something I really wanted at the CR, but it was too large to carry around the parks with me. I asked if they could send it over to BW for me...didn't have to be there that night! Nope, we don't ship between resorts. So, I left the store without it. I've shipped stuff home thought, with very good success. I have an AP, so get 10% off at many stores. So, that discount goes towards the shipping costs. And I believe that I don't pay tax, but could be wrong.
