Senate back in session + stimulus check = countdown 2 DIS trip!

I don't think the stimulus check had anything to do with WDW being busy. I dont know anyone personally that used that money to go on vacation.

Amen! Disney is busy due to playing it smart by offering lots of great discounts. Altho we had a wonderful trip to Disney, our $600. is being saved for a rainy day, once we see what 2009 and our 401K brings or doesn't bring ;). Hoping and praying things look up for everyone in 2009!! :goodvibes

Maybe if they would stop paying congress for not doing their job. If anyone ever watches CSPAN the chambers are more then half empty no one is working. We pay these people why are they not at work?

attending session is a small part of their job, if they are not in the chamber it most likely means no voting is taking place, and they are in their office attending to other business, such as meeting with constituents/lobbyists/business owners, or attending meetings elswhere on capitol hill, with other legislators,

your thoughts are shared by many, but are a common misconception on the duties of a legislator, just like most americans think that when the house or senate are not in session for any length of time, people think they are at home or on vacation, when in reality they are holding committe meetings, or working out of their district offices, rather than being in DC.

the average american also thinks legislators are underworked and overpaid, when again in reality most people would not want the job if they knew how many hours are involved and the stress it puts on families due to absentee parents, since they put their constituents first

A friend of my husband figured out that if they gave each legal working American who has been paying taxes $1 million, it would cost less than the bailouts and would boost the economy like crazy.

Serious, is this true? Then why the heck don't they go with THAT stimulus plan? People would invest some of their million, thus, getting the banks back on track. They'd buy new cars, getting the car makers out of the red....

I want THIS plan.

Work posted a summary of the stimulus plan and it looks like there may be a chance we could checks:

A tax cut for 95 percent of workers and their families -- plus seniors: Barack Obama and Joe Biden propose a permanent tax cut of $500 for workers and $1,000 for families. A first round of these tax credits could be mailed out quickly by the IRS based on tax returns already filed for tax year 2007. In addition, Obama and Biden would extend these expedited tax credits to senior citizens who are retired as a down payment on his plan to eliminate taxes for all seniors making up to $50,000

I assume that means this tax cut would be made retroactive to 2007, and since 2007 has already been filed, they would send out retroactive tax refund checks. That's fine with me! This portion of the plan should pass since the Republicans are always in favor of lower taxes and the Democrats are in favor of lower taxes for the poor.

No this is not true. If you look back earlier in the thread, you will find where I outline the actual costs per American.

As long as that check helps me and my mouse friends, I'm all for it!!!:cool1:

As much as I would love a million dollars, the mass distrubition of the money would just cause hyperinflation.
