In 2013 we went to WDW for 8 days and had a great time. We are planning an oct. 2015 trip now. I would really like to get in on the free dining. SO here is my questions.
So do I book my room now and pray FD happens??
Will they add it to an existing reservation??
Also we are thinking of traveling the 19 to the 31st of October. Is that a free dining time??
We are a family of 5 and thinking of staying at POR. DO they do free dining?
Also how much would it be to upgrade to the deluxe? (estimates?)

Thanks so much

1. Will you be going whether or not free dining is offered? Would you book a package? Remember if you book a room only reservation you will have to cancel it if you want to make it a package so you can add free dining. Also remember that free dining is an incentive to move unsold rooms. If the rooms are sold, it could lead to a decision that free dining isn't needed.

2. If you have a package reservation, and you are booked at a resort where free dining is offered, and it's available for your dates and room category, then yes, if you call and ask they can add it to your reservation. They won't do it automatically. If free dining turns out to be available on your check-in date but not at the reservation or room category you booked, you may have to change to a different resort or room category to get the discount applied.

3. For the 2014 Fall Free Dining offer, POR was completely excluded. This does not mean it will happen for 2015 but you may want to have other resorts in mind. I believe CBR is being renovated to have rooms that will fit 5, although I don't know how far they've gotten with it. Also see above about how booking ahead might mean that Disney decides they don't need to offer free dining for certain dates or certain resorts.

4. For 2015, the difference between the regular and deluxe dining plans is $48.84 per night for ages 10 and up, and $10.63 per night for children age 3-9.

No promotion or promotion period is ever guaranteed.

Reserving a room in the hope that a promotional rate will be offered reduces the need for Disney to offer that room, or even resort, at the promotional rate.
