ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

What is WITH people? I listed a $30 item and so far, one person completely stood me up, another lives over an hour and a half away and asked me to meet him half way (costing me 1.5 hours and $10 in gas!) UM, NO!!!!!!!!!!

ARGH!

You didn't, (drive and meet him halfway) did you?

One thing you can do is insist on a reconfirmation within an hour or two of the meeting in order for the meeting to be finally on (valid). They would have to give you their phone number for you to call.

I hear you, I have a $5 item listed and one guy has said he was going to get it for 2 days, the most recent being noon today. I'm done with him, someone else wants it so I'm going to email her in 15 minutes and see if she still wants it.

I also listed our wooden swingset for free and got about 20 emails about it before I took the listing down. By the time I went through all 20 people who asked about it no one ended up showing! So next I listed it for $20 thinking the people who responded would be a little more serious. Nope, no one showed still. I gave up, I think I'll end up burning it instead, which is a shame because while it needs some TLC it's still in decent shape.

I hear ya... I listed our glider w/ottoman for $50...someone had the nerve to ask me if I'd take $25 for it!!! Really $25?!?!?! come on!!!

I currently have two listings on there for two toys at real cheap and am shocked that no one has emailed me about them :(

I told him I would not and could not meet him half way. I did just email him and tell him we would be at al local place 12 miles up the road (and towards his direction) this evening and if he wished I could meet him there. We are eating dinner there so if he is late or whatever, it won't matter too much.

That will save him 25 miles r/t.

The no show wasn't a big deal either really as I was home anyway......but there have been times when I needed to be somewhere else and the person didn't show.

Ugh, I love Craigslist... I hate Craigslist!

Once a woman was buying baby gear from us and coming from an hour away. I told her DH was off from work, if she couln't come PLEASE CALL so he wouldn't be waiting around and could run errands. Of course she was a no show and he waited around just incase she was running late since she was coming with little kids. How hard is it to pick up the phone and say "I am not coming"!! :headache:

Then I had a guy buying something from me for $75 and coming from 90 minutes away. I had to go to a mall that easily cut 40 minutes off his trip each way so I told him I would meet him there. He looks at the item (great condition and pics were in the ad) and he says "so you take $60." Um... NO! He was shocked when I said NO and then he said "you really won't take $60?" I said I had two others email me that day for item and take it or leave it. He only had $60 in his pocket and had to search for the other $15. I was literally about to drag his butt to the ATM across the street. My Mom was in the car and couldn't believe the nerve of him.

Latest was I had a woman coming to my parents house and she knew a TON of people wanted this patio set. I warned her if she was a no-show I had a list of people who wanted it. Two hours after she was supposed to show she called my dad asking for directions from 20 minutes away. I gave her the adress earlier and asked if she was familiar with the area, she said yes but obviously wasn't. Personally I would have said "go on MapQuest and if you are not here in 30 minutes forget it!" But of course my Dad gave her directions and waited up for her. My parents like to go to bed early and she came pretty late.

We recently got some kittens off of craigslist after the shelter seriously told us we needed to have our landlord come with us when we adopted cats so that he could sign all the paperwork too. Our lease says we are allowed cats but that wasn't enough for them and I wasn't going to inconvenience my landlord like that.

Anyways...so at first we only adopted one. The woman who I got him from posted the ad and it said that they found him at about 3 weeks old in their back yard all by himself, abandoned. She told me they hand nursed him back to health with kitten formula. She said that they wanted to keep him but couldn't because they were moving cross country the next week and couldn't bring a 6 week old kitten with them. OK, understandable. We adopted the kitten and are in loooove with him-he's so affectionate and playful and amazing! (And he even plays fetch like a dog! Look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmZk8eziMvU Shameless plug lol)

So fast forward a couple of weeks...we are so smitten with him that we decide we want twice the kitten fun, and want a kitty friend for him. Back on craigslist we go. I emailed a few people who posted ads about kittens saying I was interested.

Well...this one lady e-mails me back...and guess who it is?! The same person who I got my other kitten from LOL. Same e-mail address, same name, same telephone number and lives in the same town. Definitely the same person. I told her I got the other kitten from her a few weeks ago and didn't care that she lied about finding him abandoned and moving to Texas etc but that I would still adopt the other kitten from her if it was from the same litter because it would be great to reunite siblings....but I think she was too embarrassed that I caught her in a big lie to ever reply to me LOL!

We ended up adopting another kitten from someone else on good old craigslist and they are the perfect pair :) And are both very healthy too-they've already been to the vet and gotten shots and been fixed :)

i to have a love/hate thing with craigslist! there have been so many times where i have been stood up! yet, when i go to buy something im there! like we got a pool 18' x 48" for $100! it was a drive but so worth it! :goodvibes

I quit selling on CL because of things like that. We live in a small town and probably 75% of the responses I received were from people who either wanted me to deliver, meet them half way, or knock the cost of gas off my my (already low - I want the stuff gone!) price. Now I just post an ad to our town's Facebook group or sell at our annual garage sale. CL isn't worth the hassle.

I love & hate Craigslists. Its a great site for deals and for selling things without having a garage sale (which is the #1 reason I use it since we live in an apartment complex and can't have a garage sale). But I hate how some people can be so rude. We've had people e-mail and set up a meet up only to put it off day after day. Or we'll tell people the price and they are all fine then we meet up and they have $10 to $20 less then the prices we've already agreed on. Grr.

I have gotten great deals on craigslist and when I sell, have had pretty good luck. I don't list things very often and try to meet in neutral location.

I had one bad luck....guy selling a gameboy. We brought a game to test and it didn't work. He acted shocked, etc....but we drove like 20 minutes to get it and son was bummed. But glad I had a game to test. Would have been out $50.

And I'm still LOVING my $250 Fiestaware Bonanza. :thumbsup2

I don't know what is wrong with these people. We had a steel case desk in an upstairs bedroom (big and heavy). I posted it on Craigslist for $50 and lowered the price every week. No one wanted it. Finally I put it on local freecycle - again no one wanted it. Finally I listed it on Craigslist free items. I got several inquiries. One wanted to know what condition it was in (I had posted pictures). Well it is over 30 years old and it's FREE! Another one came by with a truck and someone to help get it down the stairs. He looked at it and decided he didn't want it - for FREE! I finally had someone come who had a used furniture store and they took it. DH said no more - everything goes out for trash.

Now I have my son's old desk - wooden Cargo Furniture. It's in really bad shape. It's scratched and written on (he was little). DH says to me when am I going to list it for sale. I'm banging my head against the wall right now.

I tried it once for a basketball hoop...a guy from NY called (we live in Ohio!) can I ship it????????????????????????????? It brings out the crazies. One lady wanted it and asked me to hold it for her (she didn't show up). Then I get a call with a GA area code (caller id) and thought another crazy, this was actually a kid from a local college and he and his friends came and picked it up that day. That was my first and last Craigslist sale. People were getting robbed in a nearby town from Craigslist ads so with the paper and the news people in my area folks don't use it much. Garage sales are big here.
