My Fh has some of his med school textbooks that he'd like to sell. Is there a website that specializes in this or should I stick with Ebay? I've never sold anything online before so I could use some budget board expertise :teeth:

Thanks in advance!

I have bought, and sold textbooks on www.half.com. , which I think is owned by ebay. Half is not an auction. They tell you what the going price is for your particular book, and then you list accordingly. If you already have an ebay account, it's easy to list the books that you want to sell with Half.

I be inclined to sell them on Half.com. They have a whole section just for textbooks and he could list them just by using their ISBN numbers. You also don't have to worry about listing fees. Half.com takes their cut after the books sell. And because it's not an auction, you can list them for as long as you like, unti they do sell.

Half sounds like a good choice. Any comments or experiences comparing Half to Amazon.com for selling books?

Thanks,
Tink

I prefer amazon.com to sell my textbooks. Mainly because I have had much better luck selling on amazon as opposed to half.com. I usually post books on both sites and 9 times out of 10 they sell on amazon and I remove the listing from half.com. I believe that half takes a little less in the way of commission than amazon but neither site charges if your listing doesn't sell.

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use ecampus because I used them back in August and it took them till December to get me my refund and they said I did not mail in one book and I lost out on 20 dollars because of it. It was very bad. I called them over 10 times and they were rude each time to me on the phone. Just a word to the wise... I prefer to use Barnes and Noble or Amazon now.

I would definately suggest either amazon or half.com. Ecampus is a business owned by the former gov. of Ky and his texbook business and is basically an online extension of this, Barnes and Noble.com is the same thing, running their orders through their old textbook division. Amazon and Half, you are selling directly to the customer

One word of caution for selling textbooks on Half.com. They have a flat rate reimbursement for postage. Textbooks, especially medical texts, are quite heavy and shipping even by Media Mail is pricey and often exceeds what Half.com pays you back. So keep that in mind when pricing your items.

Also note that because text books change so oftern that if it is more then a year or two "old" there may not be a market for it.

While this is true in one sense, I learned long ago with Ebay that if the price is right there is a market for virtually anything. I graduated medical school in 1990 and I've sold med school textbooks on Half.com as recently as last month. Why someone wants a 15 year old textbook I'm not quite sure, but who am I to complain when the check arrives.

Ditto to this post. I have had much better success selling my textbooks at amazon! :flower: EVERYtime I've listed, it has sold within days, and twice it was sold within a few hours :cool1: I was amazed! Good luck :sunny:
