Trying to figure out the most economical way to sell some sports tickets. I think I will be able to get about $575 or so. How much would I actually clear on Ebay if the final bid was $575. Any other ideas?

I'm not sure about Ebay, but Stubhub charges 15% of the total price. I wasn't charged any additional PayPal fees. There is no charge to list - you just pay 15% of whatever the total sale is when they sell.

Just be sure that you are following the laws in your state. I believe that in my state, it is illegal to resell tickets for above the value printed on the tickets.

Yes. You need to go to the eBay website and carefully read the section about fee structure. Also review the rules about selling tickets; as stated, you need to follow the laws for your state regarding scalping. if your buyer pays via PayPal, you also have to read the fee section of PayPal to figure out how much that will be.

Don't forget that you will also have to pay eBay listing fees.

I generally estimate e-bay/paypal fees at about 10% and that usually comes pretty close.

But you can also google e-bay fee calculator. There are lots of them out there and as long as you enter your parameters correctly, I think most of them do a good job of running the numbers for you.

If you want to sell them for face value plus any fees you accrued, Craigslist is the place to go.

I was about to say the same thing!

I know Craigslist sounds super sketch, but it's worked out great for me in the past.

I had a single guest ticket for the sold-out Miami/Clemson game, last year. I listed it on eBay, and Craigslist. No one bid on ebay, though several were watching. Some guy sent me a message on ebay saying that he would buy my ticket for $20 (asking price was face value, $50), then sneak over to the 50-yard-line. But, I got an offer from a guy on Craigslist offering $75, so I took it and quickly canceled the ebay listing.

Google ebay fee calculator and you'll find a number of them.

A word of caution: are you a season ticket holder? Know that (depending on the team) the team can yank your season tickets if the people sitting in your seats misbehave - unless you sell your tickets through their "approved" reseller. For the Yankees it's Stubhub. For the Giants & Jets it's Ticket Exchange. So god forbid you sell to the drunken nutjob who gets ejected, at least your season ticket license is protected.

I sold concert tickets to the Taylor Swift concert on ebay because I was able to get better seats and I believe it was 10%.

I would not recommend selling tickets of any kind on Ebay. It's a high fraud category and your chances of being scammed is up there. You are much better off selling on Craig's List where you can get a cash payment and not have to worry about the buyer trying to rip you off.
