It was just this year when paying my MF's that I said I think I am about ready to sell my DVC. DS is older and is noticing the zippers and questioning the reality of the mouse. Yes, it is our happy place but we are ready for DS to see the world, not just Disney.

I planned on selling next year or there about, but with the changes coming up, should I sell my contract now? Either way, I will never get my money back, that is not why I bought. I got my monies worth!

TIA.

It's an unknown at this point.
You can read multiple threads with hundreds of posts of people arguing both sides of the coin. My personal belief is that after 3/20 the knowledgable resale buyers will understand what they're buying, still buy but likely will use the dimunition of the usability of the points to get slightly lower prices than what we're seeing now.

....that, plus $3.00 might get you a cup of coffee at starbucks!

:lmao:

If I knew I wanted to sell, I'd personally be listing now in the hopes that I'd get a few extra bucks per point since the points would not be of restricted use.

Seems to me the advantage to selling now is the buyer will have full rights with the contract and will possibly pay more for it. The advantage to selling next year is you might get in one more DVC trip with your family. So I think you have to decide which one is more important to you?

As a buyer, it really doesnt matter to me about the extra "perks" with the full rights as we will only use it for Disney DVC properties and not cruises or RCI. But DH prefers to do it now before the change, for "just in case" the kiddos want the extra perks down the road. But if I end up buying after 3/20, I will be offering less pp.

Thanks, I will go list it and see what happens. If it doesn't sell, we get another vacation. Because of the low points we never have used it for anything but WDW DVC properties.

We have been thinking the same thing about our VGC contract since we live on the East Coast and got talked into points there since it was lower cost. We used over 200 points in the past year and decided to try to list it see what happens, no big deal either way. Faxed over the listing (1.00 less then what we paid pp) and got a call the next day that the contract is sold, never got listed! I am in shock. Lets see if it all goes through! Waiting about 6 months to see what the resell does and buying more points resale either SSR or BLT where we want to stay!

If one is planning to sell soon, I'd go ahead and sell now.

I sent the paperwork to Jerry at TTS and it should list tomorrow or at least by the weekend. Then we sit back and see what happens. I do kinda hope it sells but if not, I am ok with that too.

Glad I did make the decision and followed through to list it.

Hopefully, we have been able to find a buyer for you. If not, hopefully the right buyer will find your property soon.

Good luck to you.

We may have had the shortest DVC ownership in recent history; we closed in October and we listed and sold in February. We like DVC, researched it like crazy, rented points and then bought a resale contract. We hemmed and hawed for some time and were never "all in" for it, but the recent changes (and the prospect for future changes) helped us decide to list and see what happens.

We listed at TTS and had an offer within two days. They were great (both to buy and sell) and so long as the process works out we are very happy.

For us, the potential for change outweighed the promise, and frankly we do like the flexibility to vacation elsewhere. We will be back to rent points when we go, but like many here have said, it's not for everyone.

Best of luck!

I seriously doubt the value of BLT will be hurt after the March deadline especially if the price goes to $140 with no discounts.

However, I am selling some of my BLT contracts now that have no points left for 2011 and/or 2012. Actually, the amount of hype about the deadline has made it easier to sell them (less than 1 week).

For me, I believe I could have made more once Disney announces that BLT is sold out but factoring in additional loan payment = wash :teacher:.
