Hi-
This may be a dumb question but.....

I have been trying to make / save a few extra bucks before our trip. I sold my SW travel credit easily on ebay.

I have a check certificate for Hyatt that I cashed in my credit card points for. I can't use it because the Hotel I picked...although owned by Hyatt will not accept that certificate.

I was hoping to sell it on ebay but I noticed on the back there are a ton of restrictions. One being..."Certificate is void if sold for cash or other consideration."

I guess that rules out ebay. Is there any way around this....
Thanks.

I don't know if this falls into the same catagory, but I have seen some people get around selling things like tickets (sports/concerts) by selling a PEN or something & just happen to include the tickets as a free gift.

But they do that to get around Ebay's rules, not the rules of whatever's being sold.

If this thing has the OP's name on it, chances are excellent nobody else will be able to use it.

The airlines and hotels monitor this. They can and WILL cancel certificates and your account if they catch you. (SW is actually fairly agressive on this, I hope that your sale was not caught!)

I received a $50 hotel certificate and discount golf certificate a while back (I think it was Marriott and it was a promotion that was part of my Dell laptop purchase) and I thought about selling them on ebay but decided it wasn't worth the bother and ended up offering them here on the DISboards to the first person that PM'd me, not surprisingly they were gone within seconds.:)

But on DisBoards you cannot sell anything, and the OP wants to get some money for the certificate.

OP, you might try the trading thread (if you're sure the certificate can be transferred).

ETA: In fact, if you can wear a size 6 floor length, black, beaded dress, I have one on there for trade. We might work something out! ;)

Thanks. It doesn't have my name on it.

I am still hoping I can figure something out. I will check the trades.
:goodvibes

I assume the post above is just some random spammer and not the OP under a new name, but in any case I have reported it to the mods.

No, it's as spammy as spam gets. Anyone who would registered on a forum for the purpose of selling something on a 4 year old thread when the terms of service on said forum strictly prohibits "For Sale" posts would pretty much fit the definition of spammer.

Oh yeah - and welcome to the disboards.
